Unpopular Opinions

Can you actually make them unpopular? None of this "leggings arent pants!" crap we always get, be controversial!

Mine - Im pretty sure because of my political leanings im SUPPOSED to support social programs for low income people, but I really dont think they deserve it. I think if people can make a comfortable living off of any kind of welfare, there is something seriously wrong and it pisses me off that people are given a free pass to skate through life. I dont even care that not everyone abuses it, that people do is more than enough. I dont care if taking it away would affect "the children", I think there should be a massive recall in the amount of social assistance paid out.

Another - I deeply and severely hate militant moms. I think they are so self involved and their opinion that they are mother earth incarnate and should be able to do anything they want because they GAVE BIRTH just makes me rage. I feel like they have no consideration for anyone and make a huge deal for really petty reasons.

Now you go.

I dont think this is such an UO, I believe not everything works for everyone. You have to do what is right for you AND your baby. Not what someone tells you have to do, because your child may grow another head if you dont.

I'm fine with being crunchy, but there is a fine line between crunchy and fanatic.

  • I think the TV show Toddlers and Tiaras is at/crossing the lines of emotional abuse.  I think child beauty pageants should be illegal.

I agree with your welfare thing Nebb.  I think you need to show extenuating circumstance (IE not even McDonalds will hire you even though you have a bachelors degree or you got in a serious accident and physically cannot work) to be on welfare/unemployment for more than 12 months.
  • I have a friend who has gone absolutely crazy militant mom on fb, she regularly tries to rally up people for those nurse ins and is always blasting people for not breast feeding. A lot of moms argue with her and she gets pretty vicious. Its weird to watch.
  • I know I've stated this before too, but I think teachers unions need to go.  Or at least severely reformed.
  • I find the whole treatment of kids today baffling. (Generally) they seem to rule the house and get their way and decisions are made around what the kids want. I'd like to go back to that ideology where kids were seen and not heard.
  • I think any mother who doesn't vaccinate her kids (I mean the basic ones,  not a flu shot) should have to alert everyone about it so that people can avoid her and them. And I do not want to invite a close family member's child to my wedding because she won't be vaccinate against things like measles and Whooping cough which are now making a comeback. I swear if my grandma gets measles and dies because of this...

  • Nebb, what are Nurse ins?

I think that workplaces should focus more on being results-based instead of time based. Going along that line, I also don't care what you do in your spare time at work as long as your share of the work is getting done.

  • I get really pissed off at the able-bodied and -minded people who abuse public assistance program, because it makes it even more difficult for people who really need it to access the services without being judged. I also have a serious issue with parents who send their children the message that they deserve everything in life without earning it, since it absolutely contributes to people taking advantage of the system because they feel entitled to it. Ok, in retrospect this is probably a popop, but it was inspired by Nebb's :P

I was just reading an article about someones infant that got whooping cough and was in the hospital for 5 weeks because the infant's sibling was in school with someone not vaccinated. It is ridiculous.

  • Maybe this is more of an irrational irritation than an unpopular opinion, but really?  I become insanely pissed when my very able bodied co-workers take our elevator up or down one floor.  Our building is four floors.  And our elevator is slow as fuuck.  If I start out at the stairs on the main level I will beat the elevator to the top, every time, and I'm not even rushing.  FFS.  Fucking lazy ass dumbos.

  • That too, AATB.

That being said, at my new clinic (womens' clinic), I swear there is not a staircase in the lobby. So I have to take the elevator one flight from the 2nd floor (parking ramp skyway) to the 3rd floor (clinic) and back down when I'm done. I spent 15 minutes last week looking for the damn stairs to no avail. I feel like a moron when I get on the elevator at the 2nd floor and get off on the 3rd when other people are going to like the 10th floor.

<div>Apparently there are forms they can fill out?  FI and I know someone who is adamant against vaccinations and insists their child will receive none and that it is legal.  I half understand it but then the scientist in me wins and I think it is stupid.  </div><div>
</div><div>A lot of people argue against them because most of the things we vaccinate for have been "irradicated."  Then the whole herd immunity thing where if everyone else is protected and wont get it then my kid shouldn't have to be vaccinated because no one else is at risk.  Well, nowadays half the "herd" isn't vaccinated, and all of this crap is popping up again.  I really don't understand people.  And I don't even know why I spent this long ranting about it... just gets on my nerves.</div>

Our building has 1 floor and I regularly see people taking the elevator. In my year and a half here, ive used it 5 maybe 6 times and it was always cause I had a lot of packages or heavy things and didnt want to drop them. I dont GET it. 1 flight of stairs isnt going to kill you.

<div>You can get exemptions - how you go about doing that differs by state. I blame Jenny McCarthy, Oprah, and the Internet. Vaccines don't cause autism, folks! I just find it sad that these horrible diseases are coming back because of misinformation. There are pockets of these diseases springing up, especially in places where vaccination rates are plummeting. </div><div>
</div><div>There was an outbreak of Whooping cough in Chicago last year (or the year before that). Very young babies died because they were exposed before they could get their vaccines. That means herd immunity (when diseases don't outbreak because enough people are immunized), which protects those who can't get vaccinated, is failing. </div>
  • I am so sick of hearing how everyone should be "proud of their curves" and bashing on skinny people too. Yes there are different body types and not everone has to weigh 100 lbs, but being overweight and unhealthy is not something to be proud of. Being HEALTHY, yes, absolutely, but there are a lot of unhealthy people running around talking about how thinner people suck and expecting support for their unhealthy choices.
  • I have not fully decided yet but as of right now, I don't plan on breast feeding my children.  I also don't understand why this offends others or why people feel the need to lecture me on the benefits of breast feeding.  They are MY breasts gosh darnet, stop talking about them!

I don't think bringing your kids to school late because you decided to let them sleep in should be an excepted excuse.  I thought this was a popular opinion but based on the amount of parents that do this at my school, I was wrong.  I also think kids aren't raised to be tough anymore.  I am a middle school cheering coach and am shocked at the amount of parents that allow their children or make their children stay home from school for sore throats and headaches.  When I was a kid, I was at school unless I was throwing up or had a fever.

Cash bar doesn't offend me or bother me, but I think that's because it is the norm where I am from.  I've literally never been to or heard of a wedding here that does not have cash bar.
