Re: Unpopular opinions

  • I HATE WHEN PEOPLE HAVE THAT ANNOYING "ITS A JEEP THING YOU WOULDN'T UNDERSTAND" BUMPERSTICKER.

Like is the inside made of gold or something? What the deuce do I not understand?
In Response to Re: Unpopular opinions : I think that's mainly to put things in perspective to entitled, self-absorbed brides. technically, a BM's only "job" is to buy the dress and show up. so when a bride is all, "OMG, this one biitch had the nerve to get pregnant and can't make it to my shower," people give the bride a reality check.
    Posted by laladypoet
I just don't agree with that... I get that it can put it in perspective for a bride who is acting all entilted. But, personally I DO expect my bridemaid to be there to offer me thier opinion, give me emotional support, be happy for me..... if they did not do this then they wouldn't be my bridesmaid (meaning I wouldn't have asked in the first place). The girl's who are, are my sister's and 2 best friends. We already have this type of relationship established and I am 100% certain it will continue to be carried over. But as a bridesmaid I DO expect that if I call you up and ask for advice (or even just to vetn) then you damn well better listen and give it to me. But that's just MO, Im not arguing with anyone here.

I LOVE when Amy does that. :)

My dog does the same, but she'll whine and whine and whine, like she hasn't seen me in fifty years.. and I get that some people dig that, but even all the attention in the world won't make her stop for a good five minutes... it just really gets on my nerves.. especially when I'm tired from a long day at work.

Like I said, I really WANT to love dogs.. but I guess I really am not a dog person.

I think the overall point was just to show how crime is changing in current times. I mean, that's the point from Tommy Lee Jones's perspective. It's all about drug wars now, and it's no place for an old school guy like him, and he's sad about it. That's the point.

I use "job" as shorthand for "what is an absolute must, no question." the bm MUST buy the dress and be there on the wedding day, or else she's not a bm.
if a bm buys a dress, shows up, and does nothing else, she's a crappy bm, but a bm none the less.
Um, I haven't seen Princess Bride either...what's the biggie on this one? I think it's one of FI's favorite movies, though, which makes me question his overall masculinity... (not reallly, but geez, a chick flick is one of his favorites?)
    Posted by jcbsjr
I had never seen the whole thing until H made me watch it soon after we started dating because he really loves it too. I had the same thought you did about the chick flick aspect, but a) H is kind of a romantic and b) I think the guys like the "hero rescuing the princess" aspect of it just as much as women do. They just identify with the other side :)
