Re: For the brave people sticking around TK

  • I'm great with babies, but Tucker honestly gets on my nerves sometimes. He's literally always all up in my face and won't leave me alone. FI says that'll calm down once we all live together and it's just because he doesn't see me everyday. I hope so. I love him, but I don't like anyone to be all up on me unless it's FI or K, my favorite of the girls I nanny for.

This is the system we had.  We installed it ourselves.   It wasn't too difficult to put in.  Took an afternoon.  It's not super expensive if it doesn't work and you end up going a different route, and we used it for almost 6 years.  We left the collar and our tenant uses it with their dog, so it definitely lasts.
  • Very cool Loopy, looks like the next time I am in Denver for some sister time I will need (yes I said need) to have a cocktail or two with you.  After the baby is born, of course.

  • All righty - I'm heading for bed.  Good night all!
  • Haha see I love having my dogs all up in my grill, Angel. Absolutely love it. But maybe once you live with Tucker you will get a closer relationship with him and feel more comfortable. Or not, haha but usually dogs can tell where your boundaries should be once they get used to you always there.

  • I actually am already really close to him, I just don't like my personal space invaded by anyone. So far, he blissfully ignores that fact, haha.

    Night, Loopy!

  • Night Loopy!

What kind of dogs are they Angel?

  • I am headed to bed too, FI is working so I am going to stretch out big time.  Night all.
  • AH yeah, I can understand that. I hate my personal space invaded by other people aside from J. But pups? They can invade my space all they want, all day long, lol. I was at my best friend's house last week and his two husky/chihuahua mixes were all over me on the couch and I just loved it. My friend tried to apologize and make them get down and i'm like "NO PLEASE DONT!" haha.

  • My family has a belgian sheepdog and a poodle. FI has a goldendoodle.

  • So I watch Bethenny Ever After, and they had the season finale on Monday. They showed their new apartment/condo they bought and its supposed to be "huge" to them, since its in downtown Manhattan. I am amazed at what is considered huge there. I think my house I'm renting is bigger than their new apartment and probably thousands and thousands cheaper. Weird.

  • Manhatten prices are insane... my friend's sister lives there and has an apartment that I think is considered pretty big. They're DINK though.. and she's a partner in a law firm to boot, so they can definitely afford it.

  • I have a couple of high school classmates that I'm still friends with on FB and they have posted pictures of their apartments in NY.  I'm amazed at how different the rental market is there vs. where I'm at.

  • Yeah I can't believe the price for space there...its like when I watch house hunters international and people move to asia and get NOTHING for their tiny ass little apartments that cost like $2000 a month.

  • I'm afraid of apartment living... Mostly noise and living in such close quarters. I wish we could just buy a house.

  • I don't want to go back to an apt ever again. There were perks of course but ugh. Neighbors were always the worst no matter where I lived.

  • I'm going to head to bed... so excited to sleep as long as I damn well please. Night!

  • Good night Angel! Enjoy sleeping in. :)

  • The only apartment I really like was the one I lived in before this one.  I had my own private entrance right next to the office and my own balcony.  (I lived in the manager's apartment because the manager decided she wanted to live off-site).  I liked the complex when I first moved in because it was mostly families.  It was one of the only complexes in town (San Marcos) that wasn't college student-oriented.

Then the "student invasion" started.  FI and I are convinced that they pushed out everyone who wasn't a colllege student.  It went from a family complex to a college complex over the course of two years and eventually, the management gave out notices of non-renewal to everyone who wasn't between the ages of 18-24 (including me).  And they didn't give any reasons.  We (FI and I) decided not to look for another apartment in San Marcos because by that time all the complexes were student-oriented and we were tired of that atmosphere (by that point, I had lived in SM for eight years).

I like the property that FI and I live at now, but I still would rather be renting a house or a duplex.

Living by students is the suck, TGurly. I hated it even when I WAS in college, haha.

Yeah, I did too, especially because I wasn't into the party scene.  And Texas State used to be known as the "party school" in Central Texas (back when it was SWT), so it was especially bad.  Now, I've heard it's to the point where you drive up and down a certain street in town or go to any of the apartment complexes in town on any Thursday, Friday, or Saturday night, and you will find a party somewhere.  Doesn't matter if you know the person or not.
