Whatt!  Oh no!  Glad you only have one dress there!!!

I wanted to get my BM dresses there - good thing I didn't order yet!  Are there any other stores that offer similar discounts on the dresses??  Nonchalance had one for orders with a large number of dresses/BMs.

They called me also, I've been trying to spread the word. Got a call for the store today stating that due to unforeseen circumstance this store is closed indefinitely. They will be at the store this Friday July 29 2011 from 4pm-7pm. Anyone who has a dress at the store, it can only be pick it up then. That is the only day and time they will be open. Payments need to be made in cash or personal check. I am so sad to see them go. My girls got their dresses from them and one still has to pick hers up. I had nothing but great experience with them and hold the highest amount of respect for them, as I have heard of many store not notifying clients of their closure, or not being able to contact clients because clients have changed their contact information. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up..

OMG they didn't call me and all my bridesmaid dresses are due at the end of August!  I just tried calling them and they didn't answer, its 8:10pm, so they would be closed anyway.  Does anyone have dresses still coming and did they say what will happen in that case??

They won't answer the phone anymore....it is disconnected and their website is down. My best advice would be to go to the store on Friday between 4-7 and try to talk to them.

I live here too and just walked by. The store has a sign on the door that basically says the same thing as PP. I spoke to my friend whose dresses are on order and hers are being shipped to a different salon instead (she thought it was Park Ave). So hopefully everyone's orders are safe. I just picked up my dresses there recently and had a great experience. My fingers are crossed for everyone!

Maybe other girls should also check other designer pages to see if other salons will be delivering them instead? Or maybe Gary will know if its a designer they don't carry.

Thanks, I have Bill Levkoff and there is nothing on the designer website.  I probably will contact the designer directly tomorrow and see if they know anything, otherwise go Friday.  My dad is even offering to go with me to tell them what's up! LOL (As you can see I am trying not to worry too much).  It was very sweet of him.

I have 11 bridesmaids dresses on order.  someone from the store just called me 2 weeks ago to make an appt to order the flower girl dresses and I have one for this Saturday & they have yet to call me.  I am getting married in less than 4 months and I am freaking out.  Does anyone know why they have closed?  My BM dresses are Jim Hjelm so I will give Gary a call.

Thank you everyone for all the helpful information - Good luck

Hi...I was accidentally given the number for BL headquarters after someone at NonChalance told me that I needed to reach out directly to the manufacturer. The number is 1 800 538 5633 and speak to Richard (the production manager). He was very helpful although he couldn't find my order because I have Belsoie dresses. I think everyone is just scrambling to figure out where our bridesmaids dresses are and who has the $$ since all my girls paid in full. Good luck!!

Hi everyone.  I'm in the same boat.  My Jim Hjelm dresses were ordered and are in NYC at the Jim Hjelm store.  Once we pay Park Ave. Bridals, the dresses will be shipped to Park Ave.  BUT, my bridesmaids have to pay Park Ave Bridal the full amount of the dress....their original deposits to Nonchalance will not be honored.  My bridesmaids were told to dispute the original charge with their credit card companies.  So far, 3 of them were successful in getting their money back put back into their account.  Unfortunately, one of my bridesmaids paid with a check, so we're not sure if she is out $122.00.  It will all work out!!

That's so crazy!! We were just in there on Saturday and my mom had found her dress. She told us to wait to order...now I know why!! Sad.

You were lucky.  I was just there with my entire bridal party of 7 this past Saturday to order their dresses, which they did process with deposits taken.  I received a voicemail yesterday around noon telling me they were closing and to have all of my girls call their credit card companies to dispute the charge.  Fortunately, the actual order was not placed.. I contacted Jefre Bridal in Green Brook (where I have ordered my dress) and they don't carry Lazaro samples in their store but will have no problem placing the order for us.

My sister is getting married 9/10/11, we ordered our dresses from Nonchalance on Feb 19th. The dresses were supposed to be available for us to pick up this week, but yesterday my sister got a call saying they are going out of business effective yesterday. We all paid in full in advance & now have no way of getting a refund from the store.

Maybe that's why they went out of business. Maybe selling their dresses so cheap was a sign of what was to happen. Who knows.

I wouldn't exactly say I have the highest amount of respect for them. Yes, they did the right thing by notifying their clients. However, i paid in full for my dress, can't get a refund, and now need to re-purchase from another boutique. I would repsect them if they were giving refunds for the dresses they took payment for! Obviously there financial/bad business practices didn't happen overnight they should have realized they were digging themselves into a hole!

I dont know what I am going to do, most of my girls paid with cash so now I am sure they are going to be screwed. This is very unprofessional, they screwed all of us and they should make it right.  I cannot wait to go there on Friday.

And on top of that, I still have yet to recieve a phone call and I emailed them on Friday and last night, the least they can do is respond.  Someone from there just called me on July 13 to make sure I was coming in this month to otder my flower girl dresses.  I have an appt this Saturday to order them. Thank god I called yesterday or else I would of just went there on Saturday.

Nicole from Nonchalance called me yesterday morning to let me know that the store was closing as of yesterday.  My wedding is in 4 weeks and I still hadn't received the bridesmaid dresses so she instructed me to have all of my bridesmaids call their credit card companies and dispute the $142 charge from Nonchalance for the dresses since we will have to pay for them again (I believe all but one got refunded the money right away).

I then called the Dessy Group, explained the situation, they are shipping all seven dresses to my house later this week and since Nonchalance had not yet paid for the dresses, they charged me the wholesale price of $90/dress.  They were very apologetic and responsive.

No one has called me yet from Nonchalance.  I called jim Hjelm and my bridesmaid dresses are on hold because no payment has been received.  7 of my girls out of 11 paid $140 in cash & I was told that they will not be refunded if they paid cash.  I dont know what to do.  Meanwhile I have an appt with Nonchalance on Saturday to order my flower girls dresses and still waiting for someone to call me to let me know they are closed.

I also had bridesmaid dresses that were supposed to be delivered to their store in the beginning of July and they told me there was an issue with the shipping from the designer.  Obviously that wasn't true,  My dresses are now going to be shipped to another store but I am concerned that my girls will not be refunded; since it is passed the 60-90 day timeframe to dispute with the credit card companies.  Nonchalance should definitely reimburse us, just not right!  Why should we have to pay double for the dress.  I still haven't received a call from anyone from the store.

  • edited December 2011
I would have your girls try calling their credit card companies, my bridesmaids paid for their dresses back in March and all but one was able to dispute the charge and were reimbursed within 24 hours.  The other girl just has to send a written complaint and wait for the investigation to finish before she will get reimbursed.

I would also try and see if the manufacturer can ship the dresses to your home or work at wholesale cost - the dessy group did this and it was a savings of $55 for each dress since Nonchalance had a high mark-up.

Thanks for the heads up but most of my friends that have called their cc company and they have been told they will  not get reimbursed.  I will suggest the written complaint.   The designer won't ship directly to me which is ok.

Hi everyone. My fiance ordered her bridal dresses from Nonchalance and needless to say, we're not happy about what happened. I happen to work for Channel 7, Eyewitness News and we're trying to put together a story for our 11pm news TONIGHT. Is anyone on here getting married within the next month and willing to talk to one of my reporters on camera tonight? We are at Park Avenue Bridal in Verona now trying to find some brides to talk to. They are trying to fill all the orders that were made at Nonchalance. We're going to head to the store in Morristown shortly. Please get back to me here or call me at the assignment desk at 212-456-3173. Thanks, and please spread the word!
