I love pierogies..... Coming from a Polish-American family we always just added the " es" to the end. Ha. Tell my dead grandmother that isn't how you pronounce it.

ETA - Thinking about it....Pierogies come in singular? AH? I thought they they came in batches of 100....

• I've never had pierogies, either. Why am I so food and drink deprived?!

I dislike that.

Also, I wanted to point out that I wrote bitch, and TK didn't correct me. I WIN.

BITCH!
In Response to Re: I dislike... : Ha ha! So what does it taste like?
Posted by CAB1217
It tastes like bubbly cherries.  haha and I've been trying to figure out why they call it "Cheerwine" but I have learned that: Cheerwine is "legendary", has been spotted in such locations as the Great Wall of China, and the battlefields of Iraq, the original owners of the company donated old signs to the war effort in WWII and some Sailors said that they could still see the outline of "Cheerwine" on the hull of the USS Intrepid, 2 presidents have "tasted the legend" Eisenhower (he said "Ike Likes!") and Bush Sr. Haha.. Fun Facts!!

• Perogies (especially homemade) are amazing. We served them as a station at our wedding. That is all

• Sami- that is a gret description.  I was trying to think of one that would do it justice but couldn't.  It is just so good that you can't even describe it but you just can't, you just have to taste it.
• This Southern girl prefers Cherry DrPepper over Cheerwine.  Friday is my favorite day of the week.  Not because it starts the weekend but because everyone has fried fish and cheese grits on their lunch specials.  Love my Fish Frydays.
CAB, you need to get to Savannah so we can show you how we roll.

• Cheerwine is cherry sparkles on your tongue.  It's amazing.  It's like if they took the red Freezeee push-up pops and melted it down and make it into soda.  It's tasty!

Perogies are the best.  Speaking of pluralizing, I remember getting in an argument with my teacher in like 2nd grade about "sheep" and "geese".  It made NO SENSE!!!  It still doesn't, but I stopped thinking about it so much once upon a time.  But when I help students who are learning English, I find myself faced with those no-logic situations that just make me shrug and go, "Eh, it's just the way it is.  Just have to memorize it"

I dislike:
-That work possibly monitors my internet, so I can't get on TK and participate in threads earlier, such as this one!
-cancer
-splinters
-King's Jewelry
-sneezing
-my lack of motivation to train for this half marathon.

As for perogies.  I LOVE them.  I could eat perogies every night for dinner.  FI and I went through a phase of eating them about every other night.  Then we realized FI gained 30 pounds.  Oops.

And I'm with Sami in regards to snow.  I actually miss it this year.  I always thought I hated snow until we didn't get much this year.

• I dislike:
- lazy people
- incompetent professionals
- getting yelled at for things previously mentioned lazy and incompetent people didn't get right
- cancer. It's too damn depressing and seeing patients hits way too close to my heart.
- not being able to make up my mind about what I want to be "when I grow up"

On a side note, I have lived in the south my entire life and have never heard of this Cheerwine. Is it an East Coast thing?

• I'll eat Mrs. T's but only if they are boiled and then fried. I hate them when they are just thrown into a pan of butter. bleck.

• OMG I love perogies. But only the fattiest one with potato, cheese, and bacon. YUM! :)

I dislike that my friend at work will take advantage of the fact that I won't ever tell on her...ugh...
Spiffy what's King's Jewelry?
Posted by Zimsgirl
A jewelry store.  It's where FI bought my engagement ring.  They closed the storefront that FI bought my ring at, so now I have to drive two hours to the closet storefront to get my ring inspected every 6 months.  Tomorrow is my first time going, which is why I dislike them.  It takes out a pretty large chunk of my day.

• Spiffy, that's the traditional way to eat them.  Boiled then pan fried in butter, preferrably with sauteed onions and topped with sour cream.  Foodgasm!

But technically, the word "pierogi" is already plural.  The singular "pierog" means "dumpling."

I'm from Cleveland, OH; we can't have a festival of any sort without having pierogi.  Even the Feast of the Assumption in Little Italy always has a lone pierogi cart.  I make about 12-15 dozen every year before Christmas, the way my very Polish grandmother taught me.  It's a pain in the ass, but *so* worth it.  :)

<div>Ahhh yess... the ONLY time I eat them a year Christmas eve. We all help my mom make them...just the cheese and potatoes with butter/onion sauce...I don't like them fried, but to each their own.... 150 this last Christmas. My grandmother never told us about the tradition of doing it on Christmas eve...we just thought it was a special meal for christmas... sort of like turkey....Ha. But I only recently learned about the tradition when I heard of other people making them for Christmas eve... </div><div>
</div><div>I find it funny about pierogi being the plural, when my grandmother would always call them pierogies. Strange. </div><div>
</div><div>You have to love pierogies in my family to be accepted... thank goodness FI loves them. Otherwise he would be shunned at Christmas time. One time my aunt (not polish side) pitched a fit because she didn't like them.... yeaaaa.. she hasn't been invited back for Christmas again.</div><div>

• Mmmmm I love pierogi (that's plural???? okay then...) but I don't think I've had the same quality that you all have had.  I just fry Mrs. T's in butter. Anyone want to share a recipe???  I'd love to try the real good stuff you guys are talking about!
