How did I not find this board sooner? I need a break from the sugar and spice and all rainbows and ponies from my local board. What's up ladies! I'm recently engaged and planning a big gay NJ wedding for 6/4/11.

OMG no, it's not a twilight reference. That bitch Stephenie Meyer ruins everything. It's my actual last name. It was a really nice last name too, until she had to write her stupid vampire books and now there's all this Cullen merchandise out there with the wrong family crest on it and all these dumb girls wanting to marrying fictional sparkily stalker vampires. I refuse to even read those books. Anyways...

Yes, big gay NJ wedding. As in me and my lady, both Jersey girls are getting married (well Unionized b/c NJ is lame and doesn't allow same sex marriage). We're having the full insane cocktail hour 5 course dinner extravaganza as us NJ ppl like to do. There will be cake, and two wedding gowns and family drama I'm sure haha

Oh and my fiancee and I have been together for 7yrs come next week and own a home together and have a corgi. She's Italian, I'm Irish so our wedding will be loud and drunk. My family is cool with us, her family recently found out and is warming up to it. Her parents are divorced and will hopefully not kill each other at the reception, hopefully my dad won't get too drunk. We booked our venue already the Imperia in Somerset but haven't done anything else b/c we're slackers and work too much. We're both having two bridesmaids, a MOH and a Best Man b/c we can b/c there are no rules with big gay weddings.

I feel at home here lol

I am fascinated with your wedding. I am from nowheresville, ND and of course we have gay people here but I'm fairly certain that if you tried to have a big gay wedding (er, union!) up in these parts, there'd be a strong reaction. Not that people don't do it up here - I mean, they must - but I imagine they're smaller, more intimate affairs.

I love that you're both wearing gowns.

I want your wedding to have been yesterday so that I can see the pictures NOW.

I'm really just trying to pretend to work today.

We just got engaged in May, the first time. She proposed to me, and then in July, I returned the favor and "proposed" to her. We have matching e-rings which is kinda cheesy, but kinda cute I guess. I'm not sure what kind of dress I want. I'm planning on taking my first dress shopping trip the weekend before halloween with my MOH and mom probably. Definately A-line, perhaps tip of the shoulder neck line, probably not strapless. Not too much beading, kinda simple but elegant I guess. My FI doesn't want to see my dress until the ceremony so we're going to have our MOHs run interferance and make sure we don't pick out the same dress, dresses that will look terrible together or one that's really understated and another that's really ornate. I will walk down the aisle first b/c a) age before beauty, i'm 3 yrs older almost, and b) I really want to watch her walk down the aisle.
