Oh lala, haven't you realized by now that if everyone in a post is agreeing, East has to come in and say the exact opposite?  It's how she rolls.  ;)

i've noticed this recently, but it seems like a departure from the standard east.
In Response to Re: so, can we talk about KPS? : Yeah, and who are the Mean Mommies?  I assume they're a specific group, like our AFSB, who took over a certain board?

So MM stands for Mean Mommies? I couldn't figure that one out, but I've never gone to TB and figured it was just a board over there.

I never go the Bump either, but at some point in all of the secrets about MM, someone called them "mean mommies" and I realized that's what they were saying.
Either way though, I agree with East.  I find them interesting even if they aren't "juicy" So someone submitted a secret about going hairless.  You all roll your eyes and say it was lame, but what if the person really feels it's a huge deal?  It's kind of silly to say that the "secret" has to meet some sort of standard, and unless we start being allowed to attack people, I doubt it's going to be much different than it is now.
Posted by AmoroAgain
I'd be willing to bet that the people with the lamest secrets don't find them that scandalous or a big deal, they just really like talking about themselves.
• I think that's why I find them annoying. same as when people here get annoyed when someone AW's every single little thing about their life. some people think that not shaving may not be different but because it's them, it's fascinating.
• OMG, I've been on the bump today (Babys Showers led to Baby Names) and I will never go there either for actual advice/ to hang out. The name board made me die inside. So many extra sylllables, and extraneous letters, and just stupid names in general. Ugh.

Which reminds me. The KPS about married ladies staying here. I know we've said this before, but to the KPS poster who is lurking: if the married ladies left, all you single ladies would have no one to ask if it's okay to have a cash bar/ have a gap/ tell your SIL she's not a BM even though her H is a groomsman/etc. We're here to offer our experience. Imagine the absolute tacktastic suckitude this board would be otherwise.

Yeah, it'd turn into *shudder* NEY.

• Heh.  Well, I made the shaving one, not because I love talking about myself, or find it fascinating, I just noticed we hadn't had any KPS that day and i was reading a blog entry about someone going for their first Brazilian.  *shrug*  Mostly, I was bored.

Or do you think I just love hearing myself talk about myself? :)
• I saw that one too, georgia. yeah, I'm TERRIFIED I won't fit in on the bump or the nest. I figure I'll have to take some crazy pills and then I'll fit right in.

I think it's all relative.  If a person is say, really conservative and buttoned down or isn't one to fuss over her hair and makeup at all, the fact she's going for brazilians on a regular basis might be a "secret" to her.  It could be a departure from her normal persona.   I have friends I would be surprised to hear they did that sort of thing, because it just wouldn't seem to fit their usual MO.

I dunno.  I just find the personal self expression in the secrets interesting whether they are very "secrety" or not.   I value that more than the secret shock factor.

lol... Yeah, I was going to say so in the beginning, but backed out at the last second.  Honestly though, I don't think it's right to judge the worthiness of someone's secret.  Does Arb need a panel to run secrets by before she posts them?  Kinda takes the fun out of it, don't you think?

Yes, I edited those out because I thought better of it.

The thing I find is that even when people come over and suggest a name like Maddysynn, most people will say, "Uh, yeah, that... isn't good."

One of my favorite recent baby names posts was a few weeks ago when some girl wanted to name her kid either Tyler Steven or Steven Tyler. That was followed by a lot of responses of, "Please do not name your kid Steven Tyler!"

• of course it's right to judge the worthiness of the secrets! just like it's right to judge anything about KPS. that's part of it, dontcha think?
• Amoro, those are good and you're brave.   I posted one and there is no fuucking way I'd tell - the institutional memory here is way too long, I've noticed.

I'm sorry my darling.  I could get into a lot of legal trouble if I left that up though.

I'll repost the other one that's not really that big of a deal:  http://theknotpostsecret.tumblr.com/post/566424052
• I posted one a while ago that was pretty lame: http://theknotpostsecret.tumblr.com/post/590668881

And the day it went up was the day that Nebb got all mad because we were talking about KPS too much, and I only argued with her because I was hoping somebody would mention mine. Embarassed

• FWIW, Sarah, I agree with that secret.

I posted one that I will admit to:  being pissed/resentful at fi's debt load.

Actually, maybe it never got posted - I probably didn't format it correctly.

Was there anything around here Nebb DIDN'T complain about in the last few months?

FI knows about this, finds it amusing, and teases me about it a lot. It means that my DVD collection is skewed in kind of a weird direction. :)

• I'm curious as to why you'd judge a fat white girl MORE for dating a black guy then a skinny white girl?  I find that amusing and puzzling all at the same time.
