Tampa is weird. And it's entirely possible there are more Yankees fans there than Rays fans. It is pretty stupid that they kicked him out though. The shirt wasn't graphic or anything.

I think iit was the FL hockey team that did that same thing up here in Boston. They got all pissy about these "fact" signs that the rink had put up; nothing offensive just silly smack talk. The Garden was forced to take them down.

Sounds to me like FL fans/players are a bunch of whiners.

I'm already not a huge Tampa fan (sorry Mica), but up until this point my dislike was only towards their hockey team.

I used to root for Tampa Bay when the Sox didn't make the playoffs. But I'm not a fan of this development.

It is! Without friendly rivalry, it wouldn't be fun at all.

One of my coworkers is a Yankees fan. The season wouldn't be as fun without us completely talking smack every single day here at work. I look forward to it.

Now I want a shirt that says Tampa Sucks. It's completely not sports related, but I have an irrational hatred of Tampa. Probably because the vast majority of Tampa natives I met in college were huge douchers.

I can't believe they're tossing people out of the games -- for a good team they have heinous attendance numbers.

I'm not sure they understand how important a rivalry is for ticket sales -- you've got to get people excited about the game!

And the fact that they are unable and/or unwilling to directly lay out how the shirt violates their policy is pathetic.

Agreed. And at Fenway - if you're not wearing a Sox shirt, it's practically required to wear a Yankees Suck shirt - even if they aren't playing.
