Ekath - I know I have totally been here long enough to know I need pictures. I tried to take pictures this morning but it was still too dark here that everything looked awful. I'll have to do it tonight when lighting is better.

We had planned on celebrating Valentine's Day yesterday because we tend to make a really nice meal at home and we wouldn't be able to do it after work tonight.
After finishing our Valentine's Day meal I gave him his gift which was a gift certificate to a place that sells bbqs and accessories (i wasn't allowed to buy chocolate this year). So, he looks at me and says I'm sorry I don't have a gift for you...which didn't upset me cause we were supposed to have gone skiing on Saturday and I thought that was supposed to be my gift. Then he says, I hope this'll do instead and pulls out an engagement ring, gets down on his knee and asks me to marry him.
He's had the ring for over a month and apparently freaked out last week when I started rummaging through the closet when I pulling things out to decorate the newly painted office. He had thought I found it.
Only issue is that it is a little big, he had used the ring I got for my sister for sizing beause he thought it was the right finger, but my fingers are a bit smaller than hers.

I'm so ridiculously happy for you! Can't wait to see pictures, and to be able to congratulate you on FB, too! (You'll notice I put a small, no-hints message)
I'm already understanding the dilemmas in wedding planning. FI's dad wants the wedding to be this summer because he thinks grandkids will come sooner this way. However, FI's sister is due in September and there is no way she should be travelling from CA to Canada in her third trimester. Which also eliminates the fall because we don't want to put pressure on her to travel with a new baby or trying to get a passport lined up for the new baby.

Yipes! That sounds challenging. Give yourself a really tight schedule and have a wedding in June - that should be early enough for her? Maybe a little over a year and go with next spring?
We are looking at summer 2012. This'll give people time to save (some were hit pretty hard in the recession) and also to enable the teachers in the family plus the ones with kids to have less restrictions.
Besides who wouldn't want a summer holiday in Canada? No one wants to be in the CA desert in August anyways.
Cate - I honestly don't know if she'd even be up for that. She had a miscarriage in the fall and it was really hard on her. I'm not sure how careful she wants to be but I don't want to make her uncomfrtable having to make a choice.
