Dry Reception???

Re: Dry Reception???

  • I'm glad to read your message and I agree with everyone else--it's YOUR wedding! one meal without beer will not kill grandpa.

I am also having an alcohol-free wedding. while i know some of my friends are not thrilled about this, they still love me are are going to show up. my family has more than a few recovering alcoholics, neither me nor my fiance drink (at all) and we are trying to stay in a small budget. i don't enjoy being the only sober person in a room full of drunk people--so why would i PAY to do so on my wedding day?

you have good reasons for having a dry reception. stand behind them! Smile

[QUOTE]In Response to Dry Reception??? : Have a dry reception. Your grandpa will live. And so will your guests. Just sweetly tell your grandpa no, and be done with it. Don't get yourself into an argument with him about it. You don't need to justify anything (unless its an etiquette faux paus) that you decide to do at your wedding.

  • Does your venue allow BYOB? If so, offer to your grandfather that he may bring a few beers for himself if he feels it's that absolutely needed. Or another idea, a flask?
