[QUOTE]Hi! I'm looking for free books to download on my kindle for the long ass car trip to IL tomorrow. I am in love with my kindle.  I wasn't entirely sure that I would be able to get over not having an actual book, but I adjusted to it really fast.  I'm glad I got the Touch instead of the Fire, I love the e-ink.

I have a weird confession. I like the way book pages make my hands smell. And a question - does reading on a Kindle or Nook hurt your eyes? I get dizzy after being on the computer for awhile.
  • When Comcast first installed TV/internets here about 4 years ago, the wiring was all effed up from Direct TV, and oddly enough, the attic crawl space was unsealed, which I guess is a big no-no. The comcast guy offered to check up there to make sure the previous owners weren't videotaping us or something freaky.

<div>It's not *really* free. The HP books were just added to the PRIME library, so you can choose to loan one of those each month for free.</div>

I've never had a problem Sesh.

  • Sesh, reading on my Nook is totally different from reading on a screen. Because it isn't backlit, its easier on your eyes. It's almost exactly the same as reading from a real book.

  • Nebb- I know this is so two pages ago but we went to the vent a couple of weekends ago and he gave us a good suggestion for our dogs teeth cleaning. He suggested dipping a rough sponge in chicken broth and then using that to scrub the dogs teeth.  Apparently, it's more the scrubbing action than the actual toothpaste that cleans the teeth so that will still take the tarter off.  Plus, the dog is more likely to tolerate something chicken flavored than toothpaste flavored.

  • Sesh- My eyes start to get strained from using a computer, but the kindle is seriously like a book with the e-ink. I wouldn't get the colored kindle because I do have the eye strain problem. I think it has to do with back-lighting, and my regular kindle has no back lighting.

<div>Nope! At least not if you get one of the (cheaper) e-ink models.  Then it's just like reading a newspaper (promise!)  If you get one of the fancier ones with video and stuff, then ti's backlit and sucks to read on.</div>
  • ha I see we've all repeated each other 5 times about the e-ink. ;)

<div>My eyes hurt a little after I tried my mom's Kindle Fire.  That's why I decided to get the Touch.  I love the e-ink.  It doesn't hurt my eyes at all, and I got a case with a little light built into the top that I can turn on if I want to read in the dark. This is it:  <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Amazon-Kindle-Lighted-Leather-Cover/dp/B004SD1ZPY/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1337821226&sr=8-2" rel="nofollow">http://www.amazon.com/Amazon-Kindle-Lighted-Leather-Cover/dp/B004SD1ZPY/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1337821226&sr=8-2</a></div><div>
    </div>

  • Sesh-The e-ink is just like reading a regular book.  I was totally against buying a kindle for the longest time but now i'm all about it.  I'm kind of a kindle snob now, I don't even want to read regular books.  The kindle doesn't strain the eyes and it is so much easier to carry around than a book.  In fact, I have several books on there at any given time.

  • I've never even heard of e-ink. That's interesting. The backlighting issue makes sense. I think the e-reader is something I'd only use if I won one or it was gift. I don't think I could bring myself to ever buy one.

Seriously?!  She damn well knew that the dress was incorrectly marked.  She tried to snag it while it was mismarked and it didn't work.  Nice try but you can't get mad at Nordstrom when it didn't work.  I'm so annoyed that someone even suggested calling a manager and trying to pursue this.

  • KD, I can't believe she thinks she should get the dress for a penny. So what if it was the company's mistake? That is one case where I say the customer isn't  right and the company  gets to cancel the order and set the right price.

Gross KD.  Sure the "customer is always right" but ffs have some common sense, and quit being so damn greedy. It's not like you ACTUALLY thought the dress was a penny.

  • I wonder how a dress accidently gets listed for a penny in the first place, like maybe they were setting up a test listing and it accidently went live or something.
  • right, brandi?

or the "EVEN WAL-MART HONORS PRICES"... then go buy your wedding dress at Wal-Mart.

I have to post things for work all the time and I'm human. Everyone makes mistakes. But, that doesnt mean you get a $470 dress for a penny. Nordstrom is known for their customer service but this is over the top.

And who do they think is going to pay for this mistake if Nordstrom does cave and honor the 0.01 price?  Nordstrom isn't going to just eat the cost, they will probably take it on a scapegoat; the person who inadvertantly posted it for the wrong price.  That is what irritates me the most, she is probably justifying it by claiming she is sticking it to Nordstrom but she is not.  Someone just like her will pay for making a honest mistake.

<div>Could be.  Or maybe the default price for everything is .01 and they forgot to change it? Who knows, but either way it was obviously a mistake.  If they had accidentally listed the price too high, she would have expected a refund for the overpayment. But since they listed too low, it was their fault and screw them?  Yeah, that's fair. </div>

Crocs and gators scare the hell out of me. I'm not sure which scares me more, gators or sharks, but I've had more experience with gators so probably them. That would change in a snap if I ever came face-to-face with a shark though.

[QUOTE]That's ridiculous. I do agree that they should give her a discount to compensate for not contacting her as well as the mistake, but more like at their cost or a 25% discount or something, not $.01.

This would make more sense Dj, like I'm sorry for the inconvenience, we'll gladly sell you this cost at our employee discount. But, even than it was clear it was a mistake.

<div>Uh yeah, I would definitely not be camping there.  Although last year when we were visiting my inlaws in FL, we went to the everglades and I held a baby gator named Wally.  MIL was freaking out the whole time, especially after they took off the muzzle that was on it's snout.  But I survived and I love Wally!</div><div>
