I've had the Dyson Animal (ball) for 3-4 years now. It's an excellent vac. I actually had to get customer service to help me turn it down because it was so strong that I couldn't vac over my oriental rug.

I don't think it's the best vac in the entire world...it's comparable to the other vacs in the $500 price range.

I will say that the Animal attachment isn't all that great. I never use it.

All vacs have some (many?) plastic parts. If they didn't, they'd weigh a whole lot more. Plastic makes them light.
• Ash- yes! I agree!

• Man! I just checked mine and no one has bought anything off either. Slightly disappointing, but it is still kind of far out! I'm suprised people are seeing things being bought already! My showers are both in May though..

Ditto this.

[QUOTE]People are actually buying stuff off our registry!! So far we've got a vase, a $40 ice bucket LOL, crockpot and the $300 Kitchaid stand mixer. OMG! How exciting! I really wasn't excited about the whole registry thing but I guess it is kind of fun to get stuff that you want but would have never bought for yourself.

When we first registered I was excited because I wanted to watch what stuff we were getting. But then I started telling my FI and family members and got yelled at for looking at it. So now I just look but keep it to myself. So far I know we are getting our bedding, everyday glasses, crockpot, coffee pot, and the electric griddle...

[QUOTE]Yay! I am not excited about our registry either. I really hope people go in on the dyson and mixer though. I really want those! :) I know FILs were going to try and get some family to go in on the dyson for us.

That was one of FI's additions to the registry! He insisted on a Dyson (and I admit I would like one, too).

FILs have one and love it! They have two goldens, one beagle and two cats and are very hard on things, it still works amazing after years of having it. We want the yellow one since you can turn the brush on and off depending if you are vacuuming carpet or our wood floors and tile. It would be perfect. I bought a $70 one that did that and it died, works awesome though!

[QUOTE]I wish Lowes had a registry! :( FI and I have both lived on our own for years so we didn't need a lot of the basics. We will be living in my house and will need to do some remodeling. The first being adding a shower to the only bathroom. Right now the shower is in the basement and Vince has to lean over to take a shower! We will be getting the majority of items for the remodel from Lowers, but they don't have a registry. I don't want to ask for gift cards, but I don't know how to let people know what we want from there. Any ideas?

You can spread by word-of-mouth that you are well settled into your home, and would appreciate contributions that would help you with your remodel. This implies you would appreciate receiving cash or gift cards in a more polite way - AS LONG AS you are spreading it via word-of-mouth only (e.g. asking your parents to pass it along to relatives, and giving this as your answer when asked directly).

• No one knows about our registry yet, my mom bought something off there for christmas but is not working & paid half my dress so she won't be getting us anything else (which is fine). She is real sick & i would not expect that, i am sad that i haven't been able to tell people yet lol.

• Nothing on my registry has moved since christmas. However, I was updating it the other day and told my FMIL we purchased some stuff off of it because the item was on sale and she complained to us not to do that. Apparently, she's purchasing stuff off the registry but not getting it marked so we know what we are getting. She is however, giving us the stuff before the shower invites go out so I can take the stuff off the lists.
