Anyone around?

Lucas is playing De Blob 2 on the Wii so he's commandeered the television. What's everyone up to?

Re: Anyone around?

• I am around..the day started with lots of promise, but the Bruins went to 2 overtimes and lost...now we are just sort of blah around here.
• MOH and I had a productive afternoon.  We tie dyed tshirts for the bach party and finished the pew deocoration poofball things.  I am super excited about them so I feel the need to AW them :)
• I'm laying on my bed with my dog wrapped around my legs. Don't think I'm going anywhere anytime soon.
• We are hanging out and about to take a walk. We looked at a house today and went out to lunch. Nothing much is going on today.
• Crfb how are you liking the new home? Good change?

Barrel how was horse riding this morning?
image
• Evening, I'm taking a dinner break before finishing our backyard project.

Chelsea, those are cute! I like the colors

MK- It was awesome. My trainer has done such an amazing job with my horse. We climbed rocks that were kind of like steps, rode through water, through a gulley, etc. I know we wouldn't have been able to do that 3 weeks ago.
• Sounds fun Barrel!

Chrissy I'm glad you're liking it.

Can we talk about these articles? WTF is going on in Wisconsin?

http://shine.yahoo.com/parenting/wisconsin-bill-claims-single-moms-cause-child-abuse-011200419.html

http://shine.yahoo.com/love-sex/wisconsin-lawmaker-says-women-stay-abusive-marriages-232700220.html

Who is running that state? Single mom's cause child abuse? Women should stay in abusive relationships? Repeal of the Equal Pay Enforcement law?

Just say it WI, you want all women barefoot, married, in the kitchen, stuck with horrible abusive men because "men know best". What is our country coming to??

Just like all Germans weren't like Hitler, not all Wisconsinites are like Scott Walker (No I am not saying Scott Walker is like Hitler lol).  Don't get me wrong, the guy has erased the deficit which is awesome.  But sheesh, he's a moron even past the ways of eliminating deficits.

That whole single mom thing REALLY pisses me off.  That even applies to women who were married and then got divorced and are now raising kids on their own.  Bullshit.
• MK, those are awful. I agree with your conclusion. Clearly, they are not a fan of equal rights for women.
• I also don't like how they want to penalize the single mothers. Um hello! Not many women choose to be single moms. And then to punish them for it seems like pouring (sp?) salt on the wound to me.
• Well and wtf.  If single parenthood was truly abuse (which it isn't) why the fluck aren't they penalizing single dads too?
Chels, <strong>is Walker even mentioned in that single mother one?</strong>  It has been introduuced by a state senator, from what I can tell, it hasn't even been voted on yet.  That article and introduced bill are a crock of ish.
Posted by crfb87
I don't even know.  But usually I correlate dumb Wisconsin laws with Walker, so there's that. ;)

And I'll bet large amounts of money he supports it.
Anyone remember that dad in Texas that was beating his daughter?  (The youtube thing.  The guy from Aransas).......Yea men totally prevent abuse.   (Someone please tell me if I read that wrong...) the board to emphasize that not being married is abusive and neglectful of children,   and to underscore "the role of fathers in the primary prevention of child abuse and neglect."
Posted by crfb87
Gag.  Unstable homes are abusive and neglectful to children.  Single parents =/= unstable.  I know plenty of kids in single parent households that are much better off than kids in two-parent households.  If I was a single mother, I'd be extremely offended by that bill.  It's like saying men are better parents than women (which is ironic considering that people that sexist usually view women as better suited to be the stay at home parent.. that logic is so messed)
• Dude, Grothman sounds like a straight douche. No wonder he's never been married.

"Grothman, for his part, continues to defend his controversial bill. Now, though, not only is single parenthood a factor in child abuse, women in particular are to blame for it.  "
• Chel I didn't mean to imply ALL of WI hold those beliefs, but it's just ridiculous.

These are the people voted in the make/control the laws in that state. I'm in VA, and it's not much better out here. With the terrible adoption bill, ultrasound bill, and personhood bill, we're right up there with the crazies that are apparently running your state.

I had to laugh at one of the comments though. It said something along the lines of, "I'm a little confused on the math of single moms vs. single dads. Doesn't it take one mom and one dad to make one kid?"

Hai Jill!

• And I'm sorry I totally P&R'd that. I became totally entranced in THIS blog. I'm completely fascinated by this girl and her story. She shops on like $25 for two weeks worth of groceries. Not because she wants to, but because she's literally poor. Then she cooks (what appears to be) delicious meals and blogs about them.

• I know Edie. I'm reading about her $25 shopping carts and checking out what she buys each time. She's just feeding herself, but I can't imagine for much more than that I can manage to feed just H and I.

Oh I know, no worries ;)
Hopefully Walker will be recalled in June and it will all become a moot point :)
• Edie I know how that feels sometimes. We actually don't eat out a whole bunch, but when we do it can be $30-$40, and I can buy many ingredients for more than just one meal with that money.

• Evening all, FI and I are watching episodes from last season of True Blood. I freaking love this show.

I haven't looked at anything more than the titles of those articles, but holy crap. Really?

I just got back from the grocery store (again). I discovered that tea has 0 calories. How did I not know this before?!? So I got some truvia type sweetener and "mini-moos" (10 cals each) so I can have some low calorie British-style tea! Yum!!

And wtf to those articles. If anyone needs to be "punished" for single parents households it's any dads that just up and leave. That's just crap. I mean - are they going to penalize widows too??
• pokepoke I buy non-fat greek yogurt and mix it with a packet of truvia and some vanilla extract. Voila, vanilla greek yogurt without all the sugar.

That's awesome : )

I have issues with the texture of yogurt. It just grosses me out. Does greek yogurt have the same sort of texture? I've heard it's a little more firm.

It is a little more firm actually. I liken it to sour cream, but don't know if you have a problem with that texture too. I actually substitute it for sour cream all the time.

I don't have a problem with sour cream at all. I use fat free sour cream when I make mashed potatoes : ) I'll have to give it a try!

I usually get the Chobani brand. You can get a small individual sized container to try so you're not stuck with a bunch if you don't like it.
