Proposal story: The day of our proposal was our 2 year anniversary. I was also 6 months pregnant with our son. We went to dinner at our favorite Brazilian steakhouse (Braza). After dinner, we went to Target to pick up a bag of candy for our “movie night” at home. I got out of the car and started to walk towards the store and I noticed that I was alone. I turned around and saw my Fiance’ down on one knee. I walked to him and he took my hand. He told me that he loved me very much and that he wanted to make our family complete. He reached in his pocket for the ring box and asked me to marry him! It was so spontaneous and sweet! I will remember that day forever!

What do you and FI do for a living (optional): My fiance’ is a Computer Engineer and I am a full time mommy and student, pursuing my Bachelors of Science in Nursing. I graduate in May 2013!

How are you personalizing your wedding? I'm not very far in planning but I think I am going to make my flowers wild lillies (orange). Chris and I take trips to West Virginia for a week over the summer. He took me for the first time in 2010, I had never been that far north and I discovered my interest in traveling. Wild Lillies grow along the country roads of West Virginia. I will look at those flowers at my wedding and be reminded of some of many great memories with my fiance.

Proposal story: Well let's just say I didn't see it coming. My best friend and I planned a St. Augustine trip for a weekend. I'm thinking the whole time that it is just a vacation that we planned. Well, Friday night we decide to go swim in the pool. I grab my bathing suit and head to the bathroom to change. I came out of the bathroom and noticed that my best friend and her husband were gone. I kept repeating "where did they go?" My FI just kept laughing, while reminding me to wash my hands. I didn't understand what was going on. I washed my hands and turned back around to talk to my fiance about what was going on. He just laughs even harder. He turned around and grabbed THE box that was laying right next to the sink. I didn't even realize it was there when I washed my hands!!!!!! I guess I was too curious about what was going on and saw washing my hands as a routine procedure that meant nothing. When I saw the box in his hand I was in shock. He got down on one knee and popped the question! Everyone knew about the propsal but me. The St. Augustine trip was actually planned by my FI and best friend. Its a night I will always remember!
What do you and FI do for a living (optional): My FI works at Publix full time, working hard to get promoted to Asst. Produce Manager. I, on the other hand, work part time at Winn-Dixie haha. I am currently off for the summer but in the fall I will attend the University of Florida for my fourth year pursuing a degree in Early Childhood Education. I will recieve my Bachelor's Degree in Spring 2013 and then return to pursue my Master's Degree. I am working to become a Kindergarten or First Grade teacher. Those grades are my preference but where ever a position is open I will be more than happy to take on the adventure.

Proposal story-- I kind of ruined his plans... I had taken off work one friday and planned a little surprise getaway for us... I called him at work and asked him if he could do me a huge favor and get me something from home and bring it to me at work... well he got home to find a note on the table for him to take a shower, put on his dress shirt and meet me at ****** Hotel... he called me (almost annoyed) and told me he'd be a little late but when he did show up at the hotel he was acting all funny and he hadn't been in the door 10 minutes before he pulled the ring out and asked me!! but unknown to me he had been planning on going to the jewelers to pick up my ring that night so he could talk to my parents about asking me to marry him that weekend so he had to call my mom on the way and ask her on the phone lol and then he was just too nervous to wait til after supper lol
Oh and the ring includes the center stone fom his grandmother's engagement ring :-)

Wedding Venue/Location: We are getting married at the Catholic church I attented until I moved out of my parents house. The reception will be in my parents barn. It's an old hay storage barn so it's huge and over 100 years old

How are you personalizing your wedding?: I am having my 4 labradors out during the reception and each one is going to be in a bow tie!

Proposal story: I don't actually wear jewlery so when he had to take me into a jewlery store to get my finger sized I started to freak out (in a very good way). He bought the ring right there and I kept begging him for it out to the car to the point I was crying. He asked me in the car and said yes (duh!) and stopped holding back and actually cried since I was that happy.

Proposal story:

After 4 years, and no real wedding talk, He asked me to be his wife. It's a cute story, but you have to promise not to laugh. We were sitting in the living room, just watching T.V. He was snacking on some chips. He looks over at me, pushes the table out of the way, get down on one knee with funyun in hand and asked me to marry him. Its adorable, I know! But really there is a story behind it. If you know us, it's the perfect setting. It's just who we are. So he calls his mother, who tells me she has a ring that she would like for me to have the diamonds out of. It was her mothers engagement ring, an I get 5 diamonds. The next week I went to customize my dream ring with my FMIL. I only ended up using four of the diamonds, adding an emerald for his birth stone. It came out amazingly!

We technically have never had our "first date" i have a two yr old and can never get a babysitter. We are getting married in a small church built in the 1800s in Genoa, nv. We arent too sure what are colors will be but we are thinking a forest green and a very light gold. Personalizing our wedding... We are doing a few things. I found on etsy some very cute 2 sided bouquet charms, i want to get two, one with my great grandparents pic from their wedding day and on the other side a quote of love for enternity or something like that then the other one a pic of my grandparents on their wedding day and on the other side a quote of love through distance or something like that, because they were seperarted during ww2 for yrs. Also, both my engagment ring and band were made by my great grandfather for my great grandma from a diamond butterfly brouch in 1922, it was also my grandmas engagment ring. Lastly, we are doing a "last kiss before the first" where both our moms come up to give us a kiss on the cheek. The first time we were engaged he just kinda rolled over in bed and asked, but some stuff happend with his family they dont like me and it was called off. The day of our anniversry this past june i got him a promise ring. A few days after our anniversry we were just finishing playing cards and getting ready for bed and he was twisting his ring around his finger. I asked him if something is wrong and he said "no i just dont feel right wearing a ring when we arent getting married anymore and i dont want to wear it untill you are wearing yours" i frowned and told him it was ok and he should put it in the jewerly box next to mine. I went to go lock the door and get sone water, i came back and my ring was on my pillow and his on his. He said "i told you i wouldnt wear mine untill you are wearing yours, but i really want to, and i want to play cards every night with you and argue about what to have for dinner and what street to take a walk on every night" he walked me over to my pillow and i was crying and he asked if i would marry him...of course im here now so we know the answer to that question lol. David is a firefighter, and i just got out of the navy so im enjoying being a stat at home mommy ;

Proposal story It all began with me being a complete brat. I knew he had gotten the ring and at first it was only a Valentine's day gift but we decided to use it as an engagement ring. Proposal story: Matt proposed to me one night after I got off work infront of my mom and my little brother. He had the ring box sitting on the kitchen table so I could notice it, but I was so tired and just wanted to eat my dinner that I never noticed it. He just kept acting weird and had the cheesiest smile on his face. He finally showed me the ring box. When I opened the box there was a note inside that was asking me to be his wife. I thought it was adorable. He is very shy.

Interesting fact: We worked at the same company years ago, crossed paths, nothing came of that. But he found me online in 2010, only because he changed his search to include women older than him because he wasn't having much luck with the younger gals.( I didn't include guys younger than me on my search! ha ha). So I guess it's fate that he found me, the "older woman" lol . His birthday is April 7 and mine is April 10, a year difference. My dad's birthday is Jan 14 and my mom's b-day is Jan 4, a year difference too, and my mom is the "older woman" as well!

Wedding Venue/Location: Sea Gulls' Nest, Sandy Hook, NJ--- A little quaint restaurant on the (real!) Jersey shore! Ceremony on the beach, reception on the deck of the restaurant, overlooking the bay AND the ocean! I am pretty much going to be having the exact opposite of a stereotypical "Jersey" wedding. Nothing over the top! Just as Thoreau said, "Simplify, Simplify!"

Colour(s) : Navy blue, fuchsia, & hints of light blue--these are definite. The accent colors will be either grey or sand. Haven't decided completely on that yet. We are having a vamped up beach/nautical themed wedding and I want the colors to pop and be super fun!

How are you personalizing your wedding? Our wedding is going to be sort of offbeat. We aren't doing anything too traditional.We pretty much just want it to be a fun party with all our friends & family. I will be doing a lot of DIY decorations & favors, etc. I'm pretty crafty and know a lot of crafty people

We both are in love with the beach, and it would have been ideal to have it in Cape Cod (my fav place ever!) but most of our family & friends are in NJ, and the venue we found is perfect--very cute & beachy --just like us! We are not fancy

.We are not religious at all, but we are going to honor my mom's Jewish culture by "breaking the glass" at the end of our ceremony. I'm pretty sure we will be having a sea captain marry us! I want the ceremony to be short and sweet,not too gushy-romantic, so then we have more time to party! hehe. I haven't figured out all the details yet, but I want it to be simple yet chic and above all FUN!!! I am giving people favors attached with a donation to an animal charity I work with. The thing that is making the planning overwhelming for me is the fact that I want a simple wedding, YET want it to be unique and an event where people say "wow that was a different type of wedding!"! Also, we will be walking down to the aisle to the tune of "Praan" which is a Bengali poem that was composed into a song by Garry Schyman and sung by Palbasha Siddique. It translates to "Stream of Life" in English. We are both very outdoor-sy people who love nature and the like. There will be a lot of unique touches like that at our wedding. I want it to be anything but ordinary!

Proposal story: Going with the "not fancy" comment above, our proposal was definitely along the same lines. He said he had the ring for about a month before figuring out how to propose. He originally wanted to propose to me on the beach but the moment came earlier (I don't know why he picked this one, though!). I had just got back from a long walk w/our dogs,(ie was sweaty!), he was in his boxers. We have been living together for 6 months at this point. I was on Facebook, making fun of people I know who are planning weddings saying how corny some of the things they are doing LOL And he was like, "hmmmm". I was like " what are you doing?! STOPPP!" (in a jokey voice). He pulls out a box from behind the cable box (I told him if the cable went out I would have found it early!) and gets down on one knee while i'm sitting on the couch w/my laptop in my lap. LOL. A rerun of "Home Improvement" was on mute in the background. It was so us.

He is so sweet; he couldn't afford a very big ring so he kept on telling me how he got the most "perfect" cut diamond that is completely "colorless" and all these other specs about the ring. He says he's going to get me a bigger ring on our 1st year anniversary, whether I like it or not! He says this to the girl who wears the same jewelry for months, lol. I am one lucky girl to have been found by such a kind, sweet man.

What do you and FI do for a living (optional): I work in commercial E&S insurance and I volunteer quite a bit on the side. He has a few jobs right now. He works at a golf course during the day and also for a radio station as an event lead. He is going back to school in Sept. to get his degree in communications because he wants to go into tv or radio production. He also works for our county park system every so often. So, we are a very busy couple, and barely get to see each other!

Interesting fact: Josh and I met at his ex-girlfriend’s younger brother's wedding. Confused? Josh and his ex-g/f, E, went to college together and dated for about 2.5 years. After they parted ways, he remained close with E and her family, so much so, that 4 years after they broke up, he was asked by her brother to be a groomsman in his wedding. I've known this family since I was 10 years old, as they are my neighbors and friends. So, Josh spent a lot of time on my street (even living in their house for a while) before we even met. There were no hard feelings from E...in fact, she is extremely happy for us, and planning her own wedding 3 weeks before ours

How are you personalizing your wedding?: There is a large piano in the cocktail room, so I would like to have framed pictures of Josh and I with everyone in attendance at the wedding. We'll be having about 175 people, so obviously, we'll be doing a lot of "group pictures." We've been working on this in secret every time we see our friends and family

Proposal story: One evening in July of 2011, Josh told me that he had been hungry for a good steak, and he had made a reservation for that Friday at Butcher & Singer in Philly. Throughout the week, and especially on Friday, I had a feeling that he was going to propose (we had been together for 4 years at that point, and it was no secret that I was ready for a ring). He picked me up that night, and we took the drive down to the city. Josh is generally a quiet guy, but he was even more quiet that night in the car. He was also taking deep breaths and sighing a lot. So, by that point, I had a very good feeling about my assumption. We got to B&S and had the most delicious dinner of my life. We were there for several hours, but by the end of our meal, there was still no ring. When we finished our dessert, he paid the check, and we got up to leave. So, at this point, I thought, "Ok, I guess I was wrong...no proposal tonight." We got into the car and I called my mom to tell her about dinner. While I was chatting with her, Josh drove around a couple blocks, and then pulled up to a hotel. I looked at him, and asked, "What are you doing?"...thinking maybe he had to go to the bathroom or something. He told me that we were going to stay there that night. I absolutely love staying in hotels, and it's not atypical of us to get a hotel room for a night, so this wasn't completely out of the ordinary. So, he got out of the car and grabbed our bags from the trunk (I was planning on staying at his place for the weekend, so I had an overnight bag with me. He packed his own bag and hid it in the trunk so I wouldn't see it and get tipped off). We walked into the Radisson, and he went over to the front desk to check-in. At this point, I remembered that I had my amazingly-delicious lobster leftovers that I wanted to eat the next day. "I hope they have refrigerators in the rooms," I thought. So, I went over to the hotel clerk who was checking us in, and I asked just that. She told me that they didn't have them in the room, but she could have one sent up, and she asked me if I wanted her to do that. I said, “Yes, please.” She asked again, “Do you want me to send that up now?” Again, I said, “Yes, please,” and held up my leftovers, as I proceeded to tell her that I didn’t want them to go to waste because it was so good. Again, she asked, “Now?” Not understanding why she kept asking me, I looked at Josh, who just said, “Yeah, send it up.” Well, little had I known that Josh had driven down to the hotel earlier that day, checked-in, went up to the room, scattered rose petals around, and prepared for the proposal. He had shared his plans with this hotel clerk and arranged to go “check-in” with her later that evening when he arrived with me. So, while she was pretending to swipe his credit card, I was asking her for a refrigerator, and she was probably thinking to herself, “This girl is about to get engaged, and she’s worried about her leftovers.”

We thanked the woman and headed to the elevators. When we were walking down the hall to our room, it finally hit me again: This might be it! He’s going to propose! (I was so wrapped up in securing a safe place for my lobster that I hadn’t thought about again it until then.) Josh handed me the key, and I opened the door to find rose petals scattered around the room and a card laying on the bed. I read the card that he had written and when I turned around to face him, he got down on his knee and asked me to marry him! Even though I had been waiting for this moment for 2+ years at this point, I didn’t know what to say except, “Oh my God…Oh my God…” After I clarified that that meant “yes”, he placed the ring on my finger.

Two minutes later, there was a knock at our door. Yup – it was the refrigerator! I was so overwhelmed at that point, that I just wanted to hide. So, I went into the bathroom while Josh answered the door. I heard Josh greet the woman, and then I heard her say, “Oooh…did you do this?” referring to the roses all over the room. Josh told her that he had, because he had just proposed to his girlfriend, and he apologized, saying that he would clean it up. The lady, who at this point, had wheeled the fridge into the room, said, “No! This is beautiful!” and they continued to talk for a few minutes. Thinking that it would awkward if I waited much longer to come out of the bathroom, I emerged and joined their conversation. The woman was so sweet, as she chatted and asked questions about us, crying and giving us hugs. After a few more minutes, we thanked her as she left, congratulating us once more. Ten minutes later, she arrived with celebratory drinks. Whenever we tell this story, we like to say that the woman at the Radisson was the first to know about our engagement.

Proposal story: Andrew and I always went on a nice fancy dinner before he went back to school (started dating the summer before our Junior year of college). He joked about it for a while and I caught on to things. So the night of August 16th, we went to this really nice but little Italian place (my favorite kind food) . On the way to the restaurant he was fidgety and some what silent. Once we got there we got a bottle of wine and an appitizer to split. We ordered our meals and just started talking about everything and anything. After we finished dinner he started talking to me. He told me that I am the only girl that he knows that would stick by him with everything that we wanted to do in life. (he was going into his 2nd year at law school. which meant even more time apart and we didn't talk much since he was studying all the time.) he said that he couldn't and wouldn't love any one the way that he loved me. At this point i forsure knew it was going to happen. he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I said yes. I looked around and it was like no one saw what had even happened. The watier came back and asked if we just got engaged and we said yes so he told us to pick a desert and it was on him. We called and sent texts to every one we know! Greatest feeling ever!

Proposal story: It was February 13th, 1998, and we were at my apartment. I'd just sat down. He got on one knee in front of me and popped out the engagement ring. I don't recall how long that took, but here we are 14 years later and going strong!

We both had reservations about getting involved with another coworker (we'd both had previous relationships with people we'd met on set and worked on numerous shows with, and it can get ugly if you're not careful). So, when we met and started hanging out together we insisted on just being friends and were very casual and platonic for the first 6 months of our "relationship" but everyone around us and our families knew there was way more happening between us than we were willing to admit. How are you personalizing your wedding? Our theme is a Vintage family gathering. Our venue is a beautiful restored Victorian mansion, which we will have all to ourselves the entire day. Our ceremony will be in the upstairs parlor/library and our reception and cocktails will be downstairs in the dining room, front parlor/bar and the private outdoor varanda patios that wrap around the house. We plan to fill the house with tons of flowers and furnish with all our family photos (mostly wedding photos) from over the years to transform the venue into a truly personal space and give the feeling of a family home. Plus, I come from an Italian family and my Mom and Aunts are making sure I have the full spread of desserts and Italian cookies on display (along with the cake, of course!). If you're Italian you'll know... cookies are a big deal when it comes to weddings!

My FI says 'let's take a picture,' the cue for my friends to take out their cameras. He then got down on one knee in the middle of Times Square to propose. How are you personalizing your wedding?: Our wedding will be pretty traditional. However, we're going to make the theme an eclectic mix of all the aspects of our relationship. There will be a plethora of nods and references to summer camp (where we met, started dating, got engaged). We also take road trips and are addicted to trying to see all the national parks, so there will be references to that as well. And baseball. If Rob couldn't have baseball incorporated he'd probably dump me (not really, haha).

Proposal Story: Courtney and Rob brought their new puppy Griswold to explore the trails of Camp Talooli on the lightly snow covered morning of December 17th. Talooli is a very special place that not only brought the couple together, but has introduced them to some of their best friends and created many fond memories. Innocently enough, Courtney thought that the trip would just be hiking around the lake in the freshly fallen snow. At the covered Wishing Bridge, over the inlet stream to the lake, Rob told Courtney he had a question for her, took the ring box out of his pocket, got down on one knee, and asked her to marry him. Courtney delights in telling the story of Rob proposing at the Wishing Bridge...Rob contests this version maintaining that he proposed at the beaver dam adjacent to the bridge...I guess it is for the audience to decided whether true romance is found above at the wishing bridge or the beaver dam below. Proposal story: We have been talking about getting married a lot for several months now, so I knew it was coming at some point in time. We had planned on going out of town last weekend and I thought in the back of my head that we would be picking out a ring together, as this is what we’d talked about doing as for as shopping for the ring. I never would have thought my FI would have gone ring shopping on his own, but he did and picked out a wonderful ring! I was at his house that night as we were going to cook dinner. Once he got home from checking cattle, he came over to the couch where I was watching an episode of Friends. We always joke around and have a good time together, so he came over to the couch and was jacking with me, just being quit the pest. I noticed he kept one arm behind him while doing this and kind of wondered in the back of my mind what that was all about, but didn’t want to get my hopes up. I covered myself up with a blanket so he would leave me alone and when I took it off of my head, he had the ring box out and asked me. It’s probably not exactly romantic in some peoples mind, but it was a proposal that was definitely ‘us’.
