Was it someone's guest? Did you know this person?  I have never heard of someone showing up to a formal wedding in jeans and a baseball hat!

I am sad to say it was one of DH's uncles who we don't know very well.  Let's just say they come from the side of his family that thinks a formal wedding is a back yard bbq where someone sprang for high end beer..... I think they really had no idea what they were getting into by coming here (they're from a hicktown in Michigan)

Ahhhh... It's been about two hours and I am a little more composed.

BP- the girl who purchased it said it was a "shimmery ivory".

I am bascially over it now.  I am obviously not going to tell her she can't wear that to the wedding (the thought never crossed my mind), I think it was more of the shock that that upset me.  I really shouldn't be surprised- she is that kind of person that screams "I NEED ATTENTION".

To add to the general wedding-wear-faux-pas discussion- at my brothers wedding some chick from my SIL side showed up in a mini skirt, black fishnet stockings and white platform flip flops.  I'm not saying their wedding was uber formal, but it was held at Penn Ryn- flip flops isn't really appropriate for that venue.

Actually, now that I think of it... who wears fishnet stockings and flip flops??

My friend wears fish nets and shorter dresses to WORK....some people find them appropriate for all occasions.

I am planning on wearing this to my rehearsal dinner and then again to my friends' wedding in June. It's more of a nude/pinkish than it looks in the picture and I was going to pair it with a colored cardigan and shoes though. But now you have me worried..

I would feel the same way.  FMIL is wearing a champagne outfit and I was annoyed at first but some of the pps are right, no one will mistake her for the bride.  Actually before I scrolled down I only saw the top of the dress and thought it was a wedding dress.  My best friend and I always joked that if someone wore white to one of our weddings we'd "accidentally" spill red wine on them.

I'm more worried about people dressing like hookers like NCV mentioned.  My sister's husband has 2 daughters from a previous marriage and one of the daughters dressed so inappropriately for their wedding, I can only imagine what she's going to wear to mine.  Everyone was talking about her and she really represented his side of the family rather poorly.  Just sayin.  I think you'll stand out as the bride no matter what...I just don't like the idea of other people's stuff hanging out of skin tight, slinky dresses.  I think you'll stand out compared to the posted dress :)  Hope you don't worry too much about this.

First of all, it's not white. second you just cant tell people what to wear to your wedding. Except of course your bridal party. Just be happy that you have control over those 8 people on your wedding day. You can't control the other 150 that are coming.

    Angel,
First off, I clarified- it's "shimmering ivory" which is pretty damn close to white
Second off- I never said I was going to tell her not to wear it.

She's not asking her not to wear it, but it DOES resemble something bridal and it's etiquette to not wear something that looks bride-ish. Angel, did you have bad day? Geez.

Angel always has a bad day.  Nothing but negativity.
