NWR - Do you take your ring off to sleep?

Ok so I just thought I would ask if you ladies take off your rings (wedding and others) to sleep.  I didn't until the other day when I somehow scratched the crap out of FI while we slept.

So rings on or off?

• I usually take mine off when I am home, and put it on when I leave the house.  But I obsessively apply lotion when I am at home.

• off at night... love the feeling of putting it back on every morning. :)
• I take my rings (I have one diamond band and my engagement ring....getting another diamond band as my wedding band and will wear all three) off as soon as I get in the door.  I have a ring stand where they always go.  I cook all the time, have three crazy dogs, and I tend to smack my ring into things.  One of my dogs is emotionally special needs and sucks on my hands and mouths (not bites but runs her teeth along my hand) my hands.  While diamonds are the hardest substance on earth it is still possible to scratch them or even crack them if pressure is applied the wrong way on the cut.  Not to mention I'm terrified she'll somehow swallow the diamond!! So no once I'm in the house my rings are off....
• I leave it in front of my jewlery box. My fingers have a tendency to swell at night, so it is easier to take them off before bedtime.
• My ring is usually the last thing I put on before I leave in the morning, and also the last thing I take off at night.  I just throw it in my nightstand drawer with all my other crap, though.

Yup, I only take it off for messy cooking/baking, showering, and working out with weights. I like leaving it on at night because otherwise I might wake up and think its missing.

• I take my engagement ring off to sleep, though I'll probably leave my wedding band on. I should really stop doing it though, because I've left the house without it several times and it drives me crazy.
• I take it off to sleep and shower. I keep it on my nightstand in a little box. I toss around a lot when I sleep and I've scratched my face before when I've worn rings while sleeping. Don't want a nice red scratch on my face the next morning! Smile
• I used to only take it off if I was weight lifting, but now it's currently at the jeweler being fixed after losing a stone, and they told me to start taking it off when I shower and sleep. LAME. I'll have to find somewhere special to keep it, I used to take it off when I showered but then I'd forget it and I'd be sad :(

• I wear it all the time, except to the gym. When I go to the gym I leave it in my ring box (that it came in).

I feel like I don't wear my rings more often than I wear them. Like others have said, cooking, cleaning, showering, sleeping, working out... all these things are with the ring off. Plus I wash my hands a bajillion times a day, and hate the feeling of water between my ring and my finger, so if I'm home for the day I leave it in the box. Posted by beatlesgirl25
This is also me totally.  At night, I put it in its original ring box on my nightstand.
• I used to take it off to shower and do dishes, because it was too big.  Now that it's sized I never take it off.  I can remember my mom telling me that once you put it on you only take it off for your wedding day and then never again.  She passed away 4 years ago and I'm using her ring, so I can't imagine not having it on all the time.

• I take mine off to shower and do dishes, and when I lift at the gym.  That's pretty much it for now.  During the summer, I take it off when kayaking, and esp for hiking, bc my fingers do swell up in the heat.  Other than that, nope.
People who take it off to work out-- where do you put it? I usually go straight from work to the gym, and there is no way I'm leaving my e-ring in a locker, so it stays on. I do leave in there if I shower though and I get really nervous, even though I belong to a very nice and pretty expensive gym, so the ladies there probably have fancier jewelry than me anyway!

I have a small wristlet I take with me to the gym. I keep my jewelry, keys, debit card, ID and gym card in it. It goes right on the machines with me.

• I take it (and all rings) off when I sleep.  It goes on the ring holder, which is on top of my bedside nightstand.  I sometimes rest my hand on my face when sleeping, and would not want to cut or scratch myself.

<div>I leave mine on the watch band. I used to swim and there was no way that you work out with rings on. Plus my ring is huge, and it will go flying off if I get over excited and talk with my hands. At night I stick it in the ring box, but I do take it off pretty much as soon as I get home, I don't like to cook with it on, I don't need my ring to smell like garlic forever. </div>

• I take my ring off for EVERYTHING!  Sleep, shower, washing hands, lotion, cooking, working out, etc.  I talked to my jeweler and he recommended that i do NOT sleep or shower in it because we may not realize it but it wears our rings out.  Also, my ring stays super shiny and I don't have to get it cleaned as often!
• I do take it off to sleep, but I have a jewelry armoire that it goes in each night. My fingers are always swollen when I wake up, making it very uncomfortable to have jewelry on... I leave it off when I get in the shower in the morning. Otherwise, it's on.

• Yes, I take it off when I go to bed. My finger feels all sweaty if I don't. :/
• the only time i take my ring off is to make meatballs.  ground beef stuck in prongs = yucky.
• Ok!! I'm one of those mommies that had a nurse that wore her ginormous e-ring when she checked dialation!!! It's not the greatest feeling in the world. Please please please remember to check what ring your nurse is wearing.

I wear mine all the time, with the exception of messy cooking or some major cleaning with bleach or other cleaners.
• I only take it off when I'm applying lotion or working with chemicals, and I have my fiance wear it on my pinky when it isn't on me.

also, Nebb - SERGIO!
• My ring rests in the Simon G. box it was presented in the night he proposed.  All other jewelry rests in my jewelry armoire or on top of it...depends how tired I am:)

I would hope not! ;)

I take my ring off for sleeping and occasional other things. But if I don't leave the house, I might not wear it that day.

• I only take my ring off for doing messy things and anything I think could hurt the ring or myself while doing it. Gardening, painting, lotion-ing, etc. I'll do the same with my wedding band.

This.  And when I'm in a body of water (swimming, scuba diving, etc.).  It's just asking to be lost at that point.

I actually take it off and lock it in my glove box when I'm on scuba trips (not getting stolen that way) so it doesn't get lost when diving, moving the campsite, cooking, etc.  And I don't leave it at the campsite anywhere.  We actually have a little wooden box for them for our rings and such - my dad's idea.
• At first I was too afraid to take it off EVER when we were first engaged.   I couldn't even sleep because I was SO aware of it and my mind would start racing about the wedding etc.  I hardly slept the first two weeks of the engagement.

NOW I have to take it off because it's cold at night so it gets loose and twists around.  It goes in the jewelry box.
• Yes, I always take off my rings when I sleep.  I also take them off when I clean, cook, do laundry, etc.  And sometimes I just take them off at home when my finger is feeling claustrophobic.
• Not only do I take it off to sleep, but I don't even wear it to work haha

Ditto - because my ring is white gold, and the less time in contact with my skin (the ring will yellow), the better.
