SA Wednesday

Okay, I know it isn't quite Wednesday but I am moody.  I am bummed how quiet this board has gotten.  When I first joined, I was super stoked that there were so many OMH and newbies alike to keep it nice and balanced.  It's a shame that a few had to  ruin such a good thing by bringing drama, redundant Qs, etc.

That being said, I am REALLY excited to see all the new faces in the introduction thread.  I hope we can all work to get this board super thriving (I think the new GTG will help - Go Rangers!)

PS: OMHs I still boo you though.  All of ya - cept Julie because she needs a day to celebrate without Boos :P

I likely wont be on much today and tomorrow, so much for having free time when not at work (not when your wedding is 2 days away).  I just wanted to stop by and say hi!

Oh yeah I guess I have one.  One of Matts two groomsmen called last night at mindnight to let us know he was still on a job in CO and will likely not be able to make the wedding.  Really?  Oh well at this point I guess its time to just roll with the flow.

Bobbieleigh, I am sorry to hear that.  You guys have been through so much.  But that's the right attitude--just go with it!

Kendall, I have to admit, I feel silly being the only OMH here, especially since my wedding was so long ago.  But I'll still post if I feel like I can help in some way.

Bobbieleigh that stinks, but like Stephie said, that's the right attitude to just roll with it.  I know your day is going to be amazing!

Kendall -It does stink, but I kinda get how the OMHs were feeling (drama and over the wedding planning). I miss them (thanks for checking in and providing advice Stephie!), and their advice because hearing about vendors from brides who have used them is so much more beneficial.

I hope that more of the newer knoittes and lukers start posting more :)
  • edited December 2011
Angelsong, I don't think any newer posters did anything wrong -- it was 90% the drama of a few specific posters and 10% just a feeing on their part that it was time to try something new. (I think -- just my interpretation)

Hopefully it's just a blip in the board. I like how active this board has always been, but when I think back, I don't think it's the same posters that I saw when I first got engaged and started lurking (over a year ago! eek!)

There are plenty of new people introducing themselves. In case anyone else is in the same boat as me (can't really post at work, but catch up in the evenings), I'll try posting when I do have time and see if the daily threads can get a little activity in the evening. I miss out on all the back-and-forth since I'm not on during daytime hours!

    Bobbileigh,
I found that, leading up to the wedding, if people said "Oh well, I can't" then I just shrugged my shoulders and did it myself or told myself "We didn't need that anyways".  And you know what?  I think it went off just fine.  I'm sad for Matt but at a few days before you can't do more than just shrug your shoulders.

Sorry, but lately I've been working during the day so I post at like 10-11pm at night :( booo! I try and get on before I leave though :)

I must be blind...who all has left?

    Sarah that is so exciting!!!

Oh! And for those that I'm not friends with on FB (and why aren't we??), we got our marriage license on Monday (mainly because Chris had to get his car registration renewed and it's in the same building)!

  • edited December 2011
I am so hoping Bobbileigh and I can pull everything off Friday for her FIs big surprise. Seriously, it's going to be awesome.

    Sarah- yay for single digits!

I don't really have anything today, except that I was amused at all the "Whoop"s that filled my FB feed last night, even from some non-Aggies.

    Bri: Love your pics!
    Sarah- SINGLE DIGITS!!!!

I had the worst day i've had in a long time yesterday. I called FI about it and was venting. I went over to the flowergirls house to give one of them their belated birthday present. I came home to find flowers on my bed and a mini cheesecake in the fridge. :)

Bobbliegh - I'm glad you have such a great attitude about it. You of all people deserve to just have a great day and marry the man of your dreams.

    Congrats on the marriage license!!

My mom actually said I haven't been doing anything for this wedding yesterday because I didn't help them with their guest list. I was busy and out of the house. I went bridezilla and I know I did. I've been planning for a year! This is the only thing they were suppose to do and she wants to give me attitude about it!

    Very sweet!!!

My .02 on the OMH leaving thing is it had to happen at some point. Some one said it, but when I started there were people on here who aren't here anymore. The good thing is that they all went to TN and finally made it active. If you go to the first page on the board you'll see a few of the oldest posts.
I hated the drama it was unneccessary and uncalled for, but it happened. Get a group of girls together (especially on the internet were you can't see eachother) and there is bound to be something. Hopefully this allows the new knotties to have their voices heard and we start the cycle all over again!

    I'm lurking....  :)
I think I may still offer small bits of advice here and there when I think my contribution is helpful.  I appreciated all the OMHs that helped me when I was planning my wedding, so I know how helpful it is to hear advice from those that have been there and done that.

Bobbileigh - the week of the wedding a trillion things happened and I just shrugged my shoulders and said - whatever.  :)  Try to remain as stress free as possible.

The coolest thing is that we have a bunch of weddings coming up this month. I'm so excited to see pics from Bobbileigh, Lauren, and Sarah's weddings.

And hopefully Mandaroo will pop in soon to post pics from this past weekend!

I can't even believe it's the same month as my wedding. I'm desperately trying to do 1 thing per day on my Knot checklist. So far this week, I got GM presents, sent the DJ the song list, and ordered our photo guestbook.

I have little mini-purses for my BMs, but I feel like I definitely need something else. They were very inexpensive and there's just not that much to them. Any suggestions for cute little things to put inside? I stopped by Sam Moon for the first time ever yesterday, and was completely overwhelmed. I ended up not buying anything because I was so confused.

Marie- I got my bridesmaids some really pretty earrings from Sam Moon.  They can wear them with their dresses but I also know that they will be able to wear them again after that.  I gave them to them at my bridal shower last weekend and they all really loved them!  And they are nice looking, but not super expensive!

My SA is that my manager forgot to run statements this month (the 1st of the month every month), Until yesterday and when I found out she got in trouble I got a little happy inside.

Oh..and FI just called me from the dentist, and he's going to have to have 4000 dollars worth of work done. WTF.

I'm going to try to come around more. I promise.

    Sarah - It is!!

OK mini vent time...I found out this weekend that FI's parents may not be coming to the rehearsal dinner.  They said it's because his mom is having knee replacement surgery (not that our rehearsal dinner deals with any standing), but this is the 3rd wedding related thing that she has been invited to and decided not to come (others being my shower and the bridal breakfast that my mom is hosting the day before the wedding).  I was pissed, because you would think that they would want to be there to support their son.  They haven't given a dime for this wedding (but whatever, I got over that), and they complained about not being included in things.  It's like, we try to include you and then you don't bother come.  It's a lose-lose situation.

I really let it get to me, but Chris has told me not to, it's their loss. It sucks because I think deep down it hurts him (although he doesn't say so) and that makes me upset.  All I can do is be there for him, and he knows my family is there for him 100%.

Marie - That checklist has helped me!  It's nice to check things off.  I also picked up some earrings and necklaces from Sam Moon.  It can be a little overwhelming (especially on the weekend) but they have some really cute things there!

I'm so sick of looking for a job. I've never felt more like a failure and such a disappointment.

Lauren: I totally understand where you are coming from with your FMIL. It sucks and it is their loss. :( I'm going through the start of this and it SUCKS.

I understand where you are coming from as well Lauren.  However, I do have to say it was A LOT less stressful without MIL there and we enjoyed ourselves a lot more than we would have had she attended.
