Too early for an evening thread?

Re: Too early for an evening thread?

  • Loops, I know what restaurant you're talking about, and I LOVE it. I never finish the tour, though. Last year I made it halfway and got the stein, which was all I wanted anyway.

    Also, hi, everyone.

  • Now I don't feel so bad for having gone through the cookies as fast as I did.
  • JK, I have not.  There's a vineyard near my BIL's apartment, and I love the really sweet wine that he gets from there (can't remember the name of course), but I haven't tried too many wines.  I will have to try the riesling.

  • GLR - It's a decent restaurant with good food for the most part.  And we got to sample the beers before shift a lot so that was nice :).
  • I don't like sweet wines.

Our friend who is getting married in Austria as friends (also invited to the wedding) who have a vineyard near Vienna.  She is setting us up for a tour.  I can't wait.  I've never had Austria wine before.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • When I think of Austrian wines, I think of sweet whites.  That being said, I'm jealous.  I'd love to tour the wineries.
  • Random - there is a marching band outside my window.

A marching band would annoy me right now.
  • A marching band outside my window would pretty much always annoy me.

Loopy, it's my go-to place during football season. It helps that there's one literally right next door to my boyfriend's apartment... stumbling distance, someone once said to me.

Are you in Colorado finally? I've been gone for so long I've missed a bunch, I'm sure.

  • Whenever I think of NO, I think of marching bands and parades.
  • Chelsea, do you have a new puppy?  Who is that adorable dog?
  • Isn't it a little late for a marching band, Lynda?

  • It actually happens more often than you would think.  The big wigs for the Zurich golf tournament are staying at the hotel attached to my buliding.  I'm assuming its for that.

<div>It's never too late for anything in New Orleans.</div><div>
</div><div>The cops are all lined up. I wonder if they are doing a second line or something.  I've seen that happen.  An entire company following the band around town.  Sometimes with floats and stuff.  </div>

  • GLR - yup.  I've been in CO for almost 2 weeks now.  So far it's going well.  I'm 1 week into my new job and I like the company.  Training is boring - lots of procedure reading.
  • Oh, that's awesome! I'm really happy it's working out for you. :D

  • I was wrong there were 2 marching bands and 6 floats who were throwing beads.

  • I've never been to NO, but I imagine that would get old real fast.
  • Parades and beads even when it's not Mardi Gras... It'd be kind of fun to live there for a short period of time i think :).
  • Gonna walk the dog to the mailbox.  Back in a bit.
  • The verdict on the Cupcake Riesling is not so good... It's a dry Riesling, not a sweet one. Bummer : Oh well, I'm drinking it anyway haha.

</div><div>I had a good time today - but is it lame that I missed being able to knot all day? </div>
  • I'm back.  Took the dogs out.  Saw another band and 6 more floats.  Crazy.

Is it lame? Probably. Would I feel the same? Definitely, haha. What did you do today that was fun.

  • Angel - I did a pin up girl photo shoot. It took about 4 hours plus about an hour drive there and a 2 hour drive back with rush hour.

Lynda - TBH That sounds awesome - but I can imagine how it could be irritating after a while lol.
  • Mmmmm dry Riesling.  If you're wondering, check the alcohol content.  It's not always true, but a general rule of thumb is the higher the alcohol percentage, the drier it is.

I just took a load of stuff over to the new house.  This is the first time I've been in it with any of our stuff in it (aside from the furniture and stuff, but that's all new so it's not really "ours" yet), and I finally had that giddy "Hey, this is OUR HOUSE!" feeling.  Now I'm excited to move tomorrow :)

Sorry, I know I won't shut up about it.  It's sort of consuming my life right now.

Your first house is a huge thing.  You should feel consumed by it, J.
  • J - I'm glad you're finally excited.
