How long did you wait.

Re: How long did you wait.

  • We dated for almost 2 years and then it will be 10 months later that we get married!
So we will have known each other for less than three years before we get married!

  • He asked me out on a date on 8/25/10.  Spent the next month getting to know him before I said he could date me.  We had our first date on 9/24/10 and after a few weeks we knew we were meant to be.  We are waiting until after March to announce our engagement due to personal reasons but we're getting married on 9/24/11, one year to the day of our first date.

I know it seems fast and there are probably a lot of skeptics out there, but we are both confident that God brought us together and that we have His blessing.

  • 7 years 11 month and 23 days after the day we met he proposed BUT I was 19 when we first dating so it was little different for us because we were so young.

I feel like we've been married all these years anyways. Its different everyone.

  • Our first date (semi-blind date - had never talked before) was on Sept. 3, 2009. We got engaged Feb. 13, 2010 so were engaged 4.5 months after we met and started dating. (He bought the ring at Thanksgiving and asked my parents at Christmas by the way.) We moved in together May 1st and will be married August 5, 2011.
All together, we will have been together just shy of 2 years when we tie the knot!
  • Wow!  Adam and I must be on the fast track.  We were engaged 7 months after we started dated and when we marry next month we will have been engaged for 7 months.  So a total of 14 months all together.

We just figure, when you know you know and we didn't want to wait too much longer.  We knew God brought us together and we wanted to be with each other forever.
  • My fiance and I got engaged at 6 yrs. 5 mths. We started dating March of 2004. We will be married almost exactly 8 years later in March of 2012 :)
  • My fiance and I dated 4 years before we got engaged.  Our engagement was only 7 monthes though.  So we will be married in just over 4.5 years of our first meeting!  =)
  • Engaged at 10 months
Will be married at 1 year 8 months

When you know, you just know!
  • I was engaged on my 40th Birthday October 11th, a few weeks shy of our 3rd year dating.  Now we are 3 months away from the big day.
  • Got engaged at about 1 year and 2 months after we started dating.
We'll have been together for about 2 and a half when we're married.

  • Started dating: 11/24/99  (High School)
    Engaged: 10/2009
    Living together: late 7/2010
    Wedding: 5/2011

2 years of that was long distance, 6-8 hour drive depending on how fast and what time of day, and ~9 months of that was a short break, though niether of us dated anyone else.  Just had some personal issues of my own to work through.  By time I announced via text to everyone I knew most were congrats, took you long enough as it had been 10 years almost of being together.

I wanted a spring wedding so it was either do it really quick or take just over a year.  Glad didn't try to rush it, I'm stressed at times as it is.  Not sure how some of you plan it in under a year.

  • Well I was given a promise ring, a solid gold band that we engraved later that day, on the day of our first year together. Then a year, two months and twenty days later, (on my birthday), he officially proposed with an engagement ring. We're getting married on the day of being together as a couple for four years so my engagement will be one year, nine months, and ten days long.

    Engaged Aug 10

We are high school sweethearts and wanted to finish college before getting engaged. We were wanting the wedding to be May 2012, but the finances are causing us to push it to May 2013. So we got engaged after 4 years, 7 months and will be married after 7 years, 2 months.
  • I think that you can never put an amount of time on it. I think that it doesn't matter if it is 3 months or 3 years, it is all based on what you and your man feel and you can't compare it to any other relationship..you know?

My fiance proposed to me after a little over a year of being together and we have been engaged for almost a year...and by the time of the wedding we will have been engaged for 18 months.

Good luck and don't rush anything because you don't want to hurt any feelings ;-)
  • Engaged: 4 years almost to the day.
Married: Will be 4 and a half years since I first met him=)
  • We were dating (but living together for most of) 6.5 years before we got engaged.

We'll be married 1 year after our engagement.

Most of our reason for waiting so long is that we were teenagers when we met, and wanted to get school/homebuying done first. So here we are :)

  • My fiance and I dated for one year when he popped the question. We planned a 2.5 year engagement to make up for that time, we moved in together a couple months after getting engaged. :)
  • we were best friends for 2 years, were a couple for 6mos then on my bday he proposed. when we get married in Aug we will be engaged for 1.5 yrs.

The thing is - and we both didn't know it - while we were just friends we were both already in love with each other. We worked for the same company (where we met) and I think both of us were worried the other would think it would be awkward. When we finally "hooked up" he told me that he's been in love with me for over a yr and has even pictued us being married....so since I was feeling the same, I was really hoping the ring would come soon! I even think he bought it before we were a couple because when I asked how long he had it before asking he said "quite some time"!
