  • Haha... nice one Fever!

And happy birthday tomorrow J&K!  Any fun plans?

  • Thanks!  Ice cream cake, my parents are coming up to visit, and we're having a barbeque.  And I get off work.  Except not really because I have to work today (normally Thurs and Fri are my days off).  But that's ok.

  • I have a picture of the movie theatre (yes they really spell it that way) in my small town with the marquee reading "Bad As$ Date Night".  I thought it was awesome.  Apparently some locals did not and made them change it.
  • I obvs. was the "Guess your age" carnie at the fair, Bethrothed.

J&K, I'll be 24 in October. I just know my own kind.

Thanks!  It would go well with my Summer Shandy, Riesling, and Syrah.  Which I will not all drink tomorrow.  I don't think.

ETA:  Was I drinking when I typed that?  It doesn't make a lick of sense and I'm too lazy to make it better.  Y'all know what I mean, damn it.

  • I did not drink beer in college. I stuck with trash can punch.

Our across the street neighbors were playing beer pong last Friday or Saturday night (I think Saturday - John was riding and came home super late, and they were back out). They were annoying.

I'm the crochety old one around these here parts.

Blasphemy! My husband works for Miller/Coors so I have to hate Budweiser products. But I hated it before I met him. Cuurs Light is so tasty. I used to drink mostly Keystone Ice in college. Higher alcohol content, same price.
  • I'm a fan of Summer Shandy. You live in Schafly territory, don't you?

  • DROOOOOOL SUMMER SHANDY.

  • Oh Beast, such great college memories...

Once we had no beer, so my friend and I decided to play beer pong with 1/2 shot vodka in each of the cups. That was probably one of our worst ideas ever...7 years later and I still can't drink vodka without feeling like death.
  • Katie... ever played wine pong?

Yeah, that's not a very good decision either.

  • AATB, wine pong? That's pretty hardcore.

Mara, coors light and natural light are the same thing... true or false?

  • Wine pong sounds as bad as vodka pong, not a good idea!

Dh and I had our fun "We don't live in dc anymore" moment the other day when we were running errands. Everywhere we went had big "Out to lunch, be back at 1pm" signs on the doors. Oh yeah, people here do things like eat and take breaks...Then we drove 10 miles in 10 minutes and it made me happy :)

False. Coors is far superior. Natural has more corn, while Coors is more rice/malt based. Miller Lite is similar to Coors, but has more hops and a crisper taste. High Life is just delicious.
But in general, most mass-produced American beers suck. Sam Adams not included.

I'm from the Milwaukee area, but I still can't do Coors.  I'll do Miller Lite though.  Not my fave, but I can drink it.

My friend's dad once went to the Yardhouse (100+ beers on tap) and asked if they had Bud Light in a bottle. It was the ONLY beer he would drink.

J&K, your town probably has a few candidates for the "blog" of "unnecessary" quotation marks:

    http://www.unnecessaryquotes.com/

ETA: My dad's girlfriend only drinks Coors Light. I don't get why you would do that if you have a ton of other options to choose from. My dad usually buys Molson or Labatt's, or Sam Adams.

Where I live, it seems like you either like Coors products or Bud products and there's no mixing. I'll drink Michelob if it's the only thing available, but I won't buy a 6-pack of it. I won't drink Bud or Bud Lite though. Ever. Bleh.
  • I like Mich Golden Light.  If I'm picking a domestic like that, that's my choice.  But I'm not a huge beer drinker anyway.  And I think Bud and Bud light are gross too.

Thanks. You just solved a family debate. FI's uncle swore up and down it was the same stuff.

I love Sam Adams. I just had their homebrew six pack. I keep trying to convince FI to perfect a homebrew recipe and submit to the contest.

H and I were in Minnesota two weekends ago, and I had Golden Light for the first time; they don't have it around here. I really liked it.

ETA: Married, H and his coworkers participated in the SA homebrew competition through their workplace. H and his partner won the company and regional round. They made this amazing hoppy, honey flavored beer and named it Jug Hugger. No, not that kind of jugs. The little brown bottle jugs of beer.
  • Yeah, it's super popular in this area.  It surprises me that you don't have it.  We drink a lot of "not really beer" beer around here.  I'm ok with it.
