What's happenin' Eeners?

Re: What's happenin' Eeners?

• Ok. So. I've been to Mexico, Jamaica, and the Cayman Islands. FI has been nowhere. Any by nowhere, I mean has never been on an airplane.

Top choices right now are Hawaii, Caymans, Turks and Caicos, VI. I think we would prefer beachy with a few options to go and do things. But more beach than adventure. I'd like an AI but it's not necessary, and I konw there are no AIs in Hawaii.

[QUOTE]I know what you mean, Birdie. It is hard to try on dresses and skirts that zip and button in the back alone. Whenever H goes shopping with me, I always make him do it for me. B/c if you don't have them zipped up all the way, then you can't tell if they fit properly or not. Annoying. They need somesort of helper tool for when women go dress shopping alone.

Maybe you should come up with something and patent it, Missy! :)

• And I really hate trying to try on dresses by myself.

• There was one dress I really liked, but they didn't have my size. I ended up getting the typical blue dress that I always zero in on, but it's my favorite color so whatever. :)

I'm not a fan of the AI's in the VI. Actually think AI's are a waste here.

• Well, I guess I am no help. We went to Jamaica for our HM. We wanted to go to Hawaii, but it was way too damn expensive for our price range.

I have heard a lot of good things about Turks & Caicos and when we were at the airport getting ready to take off, there were a lot of people headed there.

Well all of those sound like great options. Hawaii is where J & I are going for our HM. The nice thing about Hawaii is there are so many different things to do and see because of the variety on each island.

I only wish I was that inventive and crafty.
• If your FI has never been on a plane, I probably wouldn't recommend Hawaii because that is a long flight from the east coast. If he doesn't like flying after the first leg, it's just going to be worse for him on subsequent legs (JMO). I'd look and see what places you're interested in have direct flights from Pittsburgh.

Haha, me too. J is the one around here who would be good at inventing something like that.

• I think if you have been to Cayman, you might want to try somewhere else.
IMO- Hawaii is a long plane ride for anyone.

Yes, Hawaii is a verrrry long plane ride. But it was totally worth it. :) I am excited to go back and see a different island.

• Lynda, I have heard that as well.

Missy, I'm afraid Hawaii might stretch our budget a little much. Airfare from Pittsburgh is astronomical. Going to the Caribbean from Pittsburgh isnt that bad, though.

• DH lived in Turks and he liked it there (well not to work/live, but as a vacation destination). There are AI's there.

• Panther - we flew out of Columbus OH for our HM and the airfare wasn't bad at all, at least not that I thought.

What about Bermuda or St. Lucia? H really wanted to go to Bermuda, but with the time change/difference we would have lost a day of our HM since we only had 6 days.
• Panther, have you looked into Costa Rica at all? There are a few AI's there
• Strlz, there are literally no direct flights to anywhere from Pittsburgh that is outside of the continental US. That was my thought too.

We are considering taking a short vacation in the Fall, so FI can fly somewhere before the HM.

• It is always amazing to me how there are no direct flights from several of the larger US cities. We didn't have a direct flight to Jamaica either. We had to go through Charlotte NC.
• We went to Belize and stayed on a small island for the week. We went zip lining and cave tubing, but otherwise stayed on the island on the beach and at the pool. There are many diving spots and snorkeling spots.
• Yeah there are no direct flights from here to Hawaii, I don't think. We are getting a STEAL of a deal on our HM, but in exchange we have 2 flight changes. Ugh.

• I know France isn't on your list but Delta has a non-stop flight to Paris. The thing is, it only runs twice during the week, so if you play around with your travel dates a little, you may be able to find someplace non-stop.

If you can get him on a flight this fall though, one layover might not be too bad (depending on which airport it is).
• I interrupt this program to announce I'm drinking a cookies and cream milkshake and it's so GOOD.

You can return to your regularly scheduled program.

• We have to go through Atlanta when we go anywhere on Delta.
• Our flight to CR is going to be crazy-we're driving to Dallas to catch our flight, because it saved us almost $600. Our flight leaves Dallas at 6 am, we have a layover in Fort Lauderdale, and then touch down in Costa Rica at 11:30 am. On the way back, our flight leaves at 1:00 am, layover in FL again, and then back to Dallas by 9 am. Did I mention this is my first time flying too?
• Ok, so this is totally unrelated, but I'm watching 90210 (total guilty pleasure) and I am upset now. One of the main characters' BF just sacrificed his dream to go to MIT for staying near her in Cali. I know it is just a TV show but I hate seeing people endorse that line of thought....people shouldn't sacrifice dreams like that right out of HS. /endrant

Ugh, just as my craving starts to go away. Thanks for making me want a milkshake all over again.
• Ugh, I just don't know. I really want to pick the right spot and FI is basically leaving it up to me. We probably won't take another really big vacation for a long time, so this has to be good.

I haven't looked at Costa Rica or Belize. I have looked at St. Lucia, but ruled it out. I'm sort of eh about Bermuda. We're pretty close to Baltimore (~5 hrs), and it's cheap to take a cruise from Baltimore to Bermuda.

• Panther - we were the exact opposite. I told H to surprise me for for the HM. Neither one of us had been out of the country before then, so it was great even though I have heard some people say they didn't really care for Jamaica.
• Lynda, I'm seriously jealous of your milkshake.
