Show me your timeline!

I just decided to add on a 4th hour to my reception....timeline needs some help. Plus I don't want to forget anything.

Would love to see some extra-detailed and amazing examples!

Thanks!

Re: Show me your timeline!

  • By timeline, do you mean the order in which you want things to be done, like bouquet toss, cake cutting, etc?
  • Here's what we did: Arrived at venue 11am Hair and makeup for 3 people: start @ 1pm Photogs arrive/detail shots: 3pm Bridals and getting ready/bridesmaid shots: 330pm Groom & GM shots: 415pm Ceremony: 5pm Second Line: 520-545ish Family photos: immediately after 2nd line Mingle/cocktail "hour"/buffet started First dance & father daughter dance: 730pm Cake cutting: 830pm Toasts: 915ish? Not sure as it wasn't planned Reception end: 10pm We did a day after shoot, otherwise would have done our formals right after the 2nd line.
  • Yes, the order detailed as Queen Jane listed above (thanks, btw). Trying to figure out how to fit in the bouquet/garter toss, dances, speeches, cake cutting etc while leaving plenty of time for lots of dancing and not messing with flow too much. Most of the timelines I've found online account for a seated dinner, which were not doing.
  • I am not sure if this will help as we are not doing a lot of the items you listed above, but here goes:

    11am - work out
    noon - eat
    1pm - shower
    1:30pm - make-up/hair for 2 BM starts
    3pm - make-up/hair for me
    4pm - photographer/videographers arrive
5pm - depart for City Park
    6pm - ceremony
6:30pm - pictures of just the 2 of us & cocktail hour starts
7pm - our dance and food is served
    7:10 - father/daughter dance
    7:15 - Groom/MIL dance
    7:30 - Eat!
7:45 - speeches (BM and MOH)
    8pm - Rebirth Brass Band starts :-)
10pm - busses pick up and take everyone to FQ
    10:30pm - 2nd Line from Jackson Square to Lafitte's
    11pm - Pub Crawl!
    12am - photographer/videographer leave
  • No that's really helpful...we're doing a second line after the reception, and trying to figure out where we'd like to end up....Lafittes is a great idea! Do you mind me asking how many guests you are expecting?

Good to hear.  We are starting our 2nd Line at Jackson Square, walking along the Uptown side to St. Peter, hooking a right on Bourbon and then end at Lafitte's (about 6 blocks).  We are expecting about 120 guests.  Good luck :-)

Melissa, I'm glad you scheduled time for eating after working out... I wouldn't have thought of it, but am adding it to my schedule.
