Accessory help!!!

I have an accessory dilemma!

The cause of my dilemma is my wedding shoes. They are the most beautiful silk shoes, with Swarovski crystals on the front (you can search for Benjamin Adams Scarlet shoe for a pic).

Because of the crystals on my shoes, I'm inclined to think that the rest of my accessories should be diamond (or rhinestone). This would be a necklace, earrings (I aready have diamond earrings), and a rhinestone headpiece. However, I really like the look of pearls with my dress.

So my question is, would it look weird if I wore all pearl jewelry and had shoes with crystals on them, or should I just go with diamond jewelry to match my shoes?

Thank you!!!

Re: Accessory help!!!

  • Wouldn't be weird at all.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • I can't recall the bride's shoes from a single wedding I've been to.

I think it would look perfectly fine, though I don't really think anyone will notice with a long dress. Which is actually too bad since they sound gorgeous. So I say wear 'em!
  • Hey Miss Red,

I looked at the pic of the shoes and the crystals are so dainty and so far away from your neck and eyes that they wouldn't interfere with any jewelry you decided to wear.   If you like the pearls on your dress then definitely go for it!

    Good Luck
  • I don't think it would look bad either. My dress has pearls and rhinestones on it in the beading, so I'm going with pearls too. But my veil has more rhinestones than pearls. I don't think anyone will notice the difference between your shoes and jewelry :)
  • I love Benjamin Adams! Are you from the UK? :) It won't interfere at all! Wear what you love!
  • Wouldn't be weird at all.  Do what works for you.
  • There is a lot out there too that incorporates both pearls and rhinestones if you like both.

Look at some on Etsy.  I'm also in love with a necklace on
http://www.looneymaiden.com/ that I originally found here.  It has both.
  • Your shoes look absolutely gorgeous! :-)

With that being said, I do not think it would be weird AT ALL to wear pearls. I have seen beautiful matching pearl necklace, bracelet and earring sets on ebay and etsy.

Go with what you think is great, what you feel comfortable and beautiful in.

I do not think ONE single guest is going to ask to look at your shoes and then your jewelry and make rude comments about it.

    :-)

  • Thank you SO much to you ALL for the helpful answers! I agree, SweetCheeks, the crystals are so dainty that they wouldn't be a huge distraction.

LaceBride: Thank you. No, I am not from the UK; Northern CA. I got my dress from this little boutique that has A LOT of items from UK designers. I absolutely fell in love with the shoes! My veil is also from a UK designer. Of course I can't remember the name, but I want to say Richards of London? All I know is that the company is one of the oldest in the UK in that business.

SocialWorker: Thank you! They are definitely a splurge, but I am dyeing them red and will wear them every chance I get after the wedding.

    I guess I'm going with pearls :)
  • I heart your shoes!!  Get the jewelry you love - my maid of honor who got married last year suggested to buy shoes and jewelry you love b/c that's the only thing you get to wear again!
