Re: Open Letter Wednesday

  • Celles, thanks for the smile!  What a terrific open letter - hooray for that guy!
In Response to Re: Open Letter Wednesday : I don't think that's realistic in the celebrity-obsessed culture we live in, and as long as it's that way I wish there were more celebrities out there that didn't starve themselves, and Kelly Clarkson used to be one of them. Does it personally affect me? No, and my friend's smoking doesn't personally affect me either, but I still want to see her stop.

Celebrity obsessed =/= looking up to celebs.  Many people are obsessed, because they're curious.  Plenty of people enjoy seeing celebs fail, fall, get arrested, etc.  They are jealous of their income, worldly things, and lifestyle - but not necessarily looking to them as inspiration on how to be a better person.  They just want the mansion and all 7 cars.  Not the coke habit, string of shitty boyfriends, or paparazzi that follow them all the time.

Cac, you're right.  I totally look up to these ladies:

a lot more than I do Kelly:

One guess as to which of these looks more "real life" to me....

  • Yeah, I'd say based on the pic Amoro posted, she looks healthy- not fat.
In Response to Re: Open Letter Wednesday : Then who are these "other people" who fit into this small mold of the people that your FI thinks should just be able to easily lose weight and keep it off?  And how do you determine that Kelly Clarkson is one of these people?  Don't play the semantics game with me here.  It's obvious what you meant by that statement.  What you said was ridiculous.  You'd serve yourself much better by owning up to it, apologizing for being dumb about the situation, and moving on.
    Posted by betrothed123
I never said easily. I said something like FI worked his butt off to lose it twice. I know it's not easy for most people but a lot are still successful, and since she did it once it's logical that she could do it again, and I hope she does.

As it is, I'm sorry the way my comment came across. This will be the last post I respond to.

  • Dear SIL-

I just spoke with MIL about whether or not to tell Robert (MY husband, YOUR brother) that the dog he grew up with might have to be put down.  I know you know we decided to wait to hear from the vet because she told me you were with her.

It was NOT necessary for you to make that your facebook status KNOWING we were waiting to hear from the vet and your brother is in another fuucking state.

You CONSTANTLY piss me off with your selfish inconsiderate behavior.  Relatives should not find out ANY news, good or bad, through facebook.

Thank you for proving, AGAIN, what an ass you are.

  • FWIW - I would rather have my child look up to someone who is a little "fuller figured" but comfortable with her body than someone who felt the need to starve themselves or work out 9 hours a day to maintain their image.

  • If your douche FI lost weight twice and had to work hard at it, then he should have a little more sympathy for those who are overweight because he's been there.

  • Oh my motherfuck. Children SHOULD idolize celebrities that are a bit overweight. You know how many kids idolize stick-thin celebs and do whatever it takes to be them? That's far more unhealthy than being a few pounds overweight. Plu, I highly doubt KC is overweight, but more heavy than other celebrities her size. Good motherfuck. I'm only on page 3 and had to get that out.

  • Dear VA weather: I would really appreciate a little bit of spring instead of leaping into summer. My apt has no AC and my animals are melting, and the ac won't get turned on until it's been 90 degrees for 7 consecutive days. Please cool the eff down, at least until April 16th when we'll be out of here and have AC again.

Dear Amoro : I love you for messing with the plane guy, that is awesome :)

Dear school board: Please don't eliminate my job two days before I buy a house, that would be really really sucky. Also double please don't eliminate my father's/boss's job either, because they both have families that rely on that paycheck and the school really will fall apart without them there.

Dear Dh: Thank you so much for taking off work today to take care of me. While I know you really don't want to work anymore, and still need to use 4 vacation days in your remaining 9 days at this location, it still means a lot to me that you drove 3 hours and waited 2 hours for my root canal. You rock my world.

I have lived in Virginia for 10 years now and I believe that spring has nothing to do with the weather and you can only tell that is spring by the lovely covering of green pollen on everything!
