Attracted by the drama yesterday? Welcome!

Please introduce yourself! We'd love to get to know you!

We're generally a pretty chill group that talks about what's going on in our lives, what's for dinner and an occasional wedding update or question mixed in!

I'll start: I'm Angel, I live outside Toronto. I work with children with autism and am working on a master's degree. Most of the time when I'm online, I'm in class or avoiding an assignment.
My wedding is in September at a flower farm. Very laid back, but some elegant touches.
I love a good bottle of wine, Kevin Smith movies, my 3 cats and 2 elderly bearded dragon lizards.

Re: Attracted by the drama yesterday? Welcome!

  • Hi Angel! I just lurked the thread late last night because I was out working/house shopping with FI and my in-laws most of the day.

I also live outside Toronto (east side, in the GTA), and I am a teacher as well as a Day Camp director and the Site Supervisor of an after school program. When I'm online it's because I haven't gotten a teaching call for that day, or I have and it's for high school which allows me to be on the computer a bit.

My wedding is next April and the words I'd like to use to describe it are simple and elegant with a bit of sparkle.

I love cats but am sadly allergic; I will own a bunny one day and call it Snuggles; I enjoy a good Gin and bar lime and my Kobo e-reader. I also skate on an adult synchronized skating team and our season is just wrapping up.

  • Hello!

I am Apple. I live outside of salt lake city.
I am an admin assistant right now and currently going to school for medical assisting.
I have a really bad habit of just keeping this site up all day for entertainment.

My wedding is in june. I love books, aaand right now obsessed with game of thrones! also I have one puppy named Fiona.

  • OMG apple the GOT books are so so so so good! They are my favourite book series, hands down.

  • Hi!

I like in Eastern KY, and work in a Medical Library for the med school here. This summer I'll be starting my online masters program to be a real librarian.

Most of the time, I leave TK up in a tab and bounce back when there is a lull at work, but I also get on and read before work sometimes, since I'm home alone until I leave.

I'm an old married hag since last May. I'd describe our wedding as a shabby chic picnic, but I'm sure H would choose different descriptors.

I love animals, have an empathy problem, read most of my life, and wish I had more time to sew.

  • I don't usually post on Snarky but was certainly attracted to the fun last night.

I'm Addie. I am originally from Illinois, lived in Texas the last 13 years, and moved to Virginia this past July. I have a cat named Diablo and am currently also cat-sitting Binx for our groomswoman's partner who just had a baby last week. I'm an English teacher on hiatus and will be looking for a job back in the classroom soon. I really want to go to grad school to get my Master's to teach college, but the plan for that has changed a bit. I love Game of Thrones and am anxiously awaiting the season premiere this month (haven't read the books b/c I discovered the series first.) My 1-year anniversary is coming up in a little less than 2 weeks.

  • I did the same thing I discovered the series first but now found the books. I am in love.
    I can't wait.

I am only on the first one right now but I am moving along quick.

  • Lots of ladies going for the graduate degrees, I love it!!

Addie, I'm a certified teacher too, but the job situation here is bleak for teachers. Declining enrollment, and a huge flood of the field. So I've stuck with Behaviour Analysis. My thesis supervisor is trying to get me to teach at the college leve while I finish my master's degree (like community college in the states), so I may start that next year. But I want to wait until after the wedding, I feel like I'll be busy enough.

I was just called a "Research Geek" by a former prof, who I was excitedly telling about my thesis research. I couldn't be more proud!

  • Bunni, I've always thought working in a library would be great for me. I could easily read 12 hours a day and be perfectly happy! I've already worn out 2 Kobo e-readers since they came out.

  • Hi!

I'm "Happy". I've been married 25 years (so definitely a married old hag!) I came to TK while planning a 25th anniversary vow renewal (the party was 3/2 and was amazing). I am entertained by TK and check in from time to time.

I live in PA and my husband and I own an auto repair shop. I have 2 grown children; daughter has graduated college, son is in his 3rd year) I eaned my MBA several years ago (not easy with kids at home and full-time job!) My BS is in Elem Ed but I never taught.

Happy planning and best of luck to all of you!

  • Hello :]

Im Sierra. I am from Erie, PA. I am getting married in a little over 5 months to my amazing FI. I am currently on a break from employment and working on being a housewife. I just made that up. But, I really am unemployed at the moment. Looking for something I love doing. I love to cook and attempt to bake. I hate cleaning. I am also allergic to cats, which sucks because they are so cute. I have two dogs! Bailey (shar pei/pitt mix) and Chloe (bully & terrier pit mix). They are my fur babies <3 I love watching movies & I kinda have an obsession with court tv.

  • Hi! I'm Syd

I'm NEY but have been with the BF for nearly 6 years. I live in MA on the border of NH so I'm frequently state hopping - he lives in NH.

I'm a marketing coordinator for a local company and I come on here to try and reset my brain. I love the people and the company, the but the subject matter can get really dry (all computer science stuff).

I graduated college last December (12/2011) and was supposed to start on my master's in Professional Communication this past fall, but family ish hit the fan and finances were no where close to being in order! lol Oh well, it'll happen eventually!

I joined TK during a night of not wanting to do HW

I moonlight, well Saturday-daylight as a check-out asst mgr at a local grocery store and this summer will mark my 7th year there! Woohoo!!!

And I'm currently re-reading the Harry Potter series, I'm on #3

  • Hi! I'm Maggie.

I don't typically post over here on SB but I do peruse it every once in awhile.

H and I currently live in MD. He is an HVAC technician (hoping to head over to the utility side soon) and I am a Project Management Analyst with a government contracting firm. We are die hard Ravens fans which is one of the reasons we got married in their stadium. We also love the beach and always take an annual trip to Ocean City in the summer.

We have been together for almost 11 years and been married almost 2. We have an adorable yellow lab named Gracie who we love more then anything. We own a cute townhome in the town we both grew up in. One day we hope to move to Florida to be closer to my parents and to get away from the crappy MD winter weather.

For fun, I love to be crafty and to bake. I am definitely a home body and much prefer curling up on the couch to watch a movie and cuddle with my pup then getting all dolled up to go out to a loud and over crowded bar.

Oh, and Sydaries, I am also re-reading the HP series for probably the 4th time and just started book 7 last week :)

I've read 1-4 about 3 or 4 times when I was younger and the last 3 only once, as they came out and were available in-stock (no way I was pre-ordering!). I have just been a supporter for SO LOONG and I wanted to double check on what I was pushing! Also, I haven't read the entire series consecutively so I wanted to do that! My poor 1st book is literally falling apart at the binding!

I got into HP after the first movie came out. 99.9% of the time the books are always better then the movies so I figured I would give them a whirl. It seems crazy that I have been so into these books/movies for 11 years now!

My third and fourth books are falling apart at the seams. I was able to tape up my third book but my fourth I have to read in sections because the pages came completely off the binding in 4 parts. But now I have all the books on my Nook so my hardbacks are now safely stored on our bookshelves at home.

  • Yeah, WTH, I was gone for a day and all hell broke loose!

I'm Pickle, I'm still in the planning stages of my September 2013 wedding. I live in the Detroit/Ann Arbor area of Michigan, working full time at U-M, and finishing my master's part time (graduation is less than 2 months away!). My FI, Troy, and I love restaurants and going on random adventures with our little gold mutt, Brady.

I just bought a Kindle so I am loving all of the book talk. This week has been crazy so far, but I will hopefully will be on more as things calm down.

[QUOTE]Hi, my name is Mallory. I'm a freelance illustrator and a part time worker at the local art store. H is a comic illustrator, butcher, and adjunct illustration professor. We live in a teensy apartment with two long haired cats. We're currently both saving to go back to school so he can teach full time while I take on marketing. We live just outside of Northern Illinois territory, currently. Hoping to move soon. We were married back in November. I'm a big fan of bourbon, I'm a minor foodie, and I skim a lot of nerdy stuff. We're happily childfree and our apartment is a kiddie deathtrap. I'm quite boring, now that I read this. Yeesh.

  • Hello~

I live in East Nashville, hipster capital of the state of Tennessee. My fiance and I are the parents of three wonderful dogs. I work as a cancer research nurse at a phase I clinical trial unit. I spend a good part of my work day waiting for lab results to come back so I can treat patients, so I cruise TK while I wait.

My fiance and I met in February 2008 at the first anti-Scientology protest in Nashville. We started dating in October 2009 and got engaged in November 2012. We're currently in the midst of planning our covertly Buddhist wedding that will take place on October 19, 2013.

We have abnormal obsessions with aquariums, Legos, Adult Swim shows and passenger trains. My train obsession runs way deeper than my fiance's, but he has a quiet appreciation for trains. I also love traveling, especially internationally, and I've been working on cultivating a travel bug for my fiance, as he never traveled for recreation before we started dating. I've lived in Ghana and Germany in addition to three other states besides Tennessee; have studied Japanese and French extensively in addition to German, ASL, Ewe, Russian and Latin, to a lesser extent; and my major in college prior to nursing was East Asian studies focusing in North Korean history and Japanese language.

Hey guys! I'm LiLe, I live in the Poconos. I have a small cleaning service -- I manage mostly vacation rental homes and a few offices. This is a super touristy area, so luckily I am able to stay busy enough to work for myself full-time.

FI and I have been together forever! We dated in jr high (7th grade), then got back together senior year of high school. We just celebrated 10 years a few months back :)

I am soooo looking forward to getting married in 2 short months. We originally planned a private ceremony (just the 2 of us) in Jamaica for April, followed by an AHR at home in May. It just didnt feel right so we decided to marry at home, with our family and friends by our side. Since everything was already booked when the plans changed, we decided so still go to Jamaica in April and get married at our AHR venue in May. So, we are having a pre-wedding honeymoon Wink A little backwards, I know. But hey, it works for us.

ETA: Holy crap, how did I forget to mention my furbabies?! I have 2 dogs, Shottie - who is a German Shepard mix, and Bella Baby - who is a English Mastiff. I also have 2 cats, Eve and Baloo. I will not embarrass them (or myself) and tell you all their short names :)

  • Harry/Mallory, do you have a preference about how you are addressed here? You and your H have super cool jobs. Funny bourbon story: mom doesn't drink at all. She really liked steaks H made, and asked him for the recipe. I would love to have a pic of her face when he said, "I just poured a few bottles of wild turkey on it and hoped for the best." They were airplane-sized bottles, but he left that out.

Stage, that toy collection sounds awesome. Ours isn't focused on vintage: we just grab things we think are cool. Old things are cool to me, H is more excited by moving parts and such. They are mostly comic book based, but we also have a sweet train set that might be my favorite.

This weekend, H and I are going to a comic and toy convention. I hope we can find some really cool pieces.

  • Hello! I lurked through yesterday's thread of drama awesomeness last night. It was better than watching The Bachelor finale!

I'm Suzie, and I live in Chicago where I'm in medical device sales. So I tend to be late to a lot of the posting parties unless I'm working from home for the day. I try to pop in when I can.

FI and I are just under the six month mark until our wedding. We met online through OkCupid. I really thought the world of free internet dating was full of crazies until I walked into the bar for my first date with FI. We live in Bucktown and have one furbaby Simon. (well its my cat, but he is slowly learning to love him as much as he loves me). FI loves his sports and I love my reality shows so we like to fight over the remote. In doing so we found neutral ground and a new love for all Showtime series (Dexter, seriously, please don't end).

  • H's most exciting Christmas gift from me was the Marvel Ledgends Thor! Off his wishlist anyway. I also got him Excelsior, which he was totally surprised and stoked about.

This is only the second year of this one, and it seems to be growing pretty fast. I'd say there will be a few hundred attendees, and they have some surpisingly big names for such a young con. Lando Calrissian, Chewbacca, Lurch, the SIlver Surfer, most of the original Power Rangers, and Margo Kidder are going to be there. There are also several comic book artists. I'm geeking out a little, because this is so not something that happens anywhere close to this area.

I think ours (or at least mine) comes from a weird nostalgia defect in my brain. Like, "H! Someone is selling this action figure, I need to save Cap from a drooling little sister who will color on him!"

Now that i think about it, I'm glad we did our renters insurance online.

  • I've introduced before but I'll do it again.
My name is Shan. I've been engaged for....3 years? We have been together for 4.5. I currently am a Registered Nursing student and I will graduate in December of this year. My wedding is June of this year, FINALLY! I have a 6 year old daughter from a previous marriage and we have two adopted furbabies. Wilson the mini schnauzer and Millie who we think is a maltese/shih tzu mix (or that's what the vet says). I also have man cat that we call Mr. Zoey (the shelter said he was a girl, and then we got him "spayed" and turns out...he's not, try explaining that to a 4 year old) so we just threw a Mr. on the front of it :).
I lurk quite a bit and I post when I need to vent and don't know where else to put it at.
    Great to meet you all!

My name is Emily, I go by Em.
I live with my FI and our puppy dog. We are looking to move to a new apartment soon, unfortunately.
I work in pediatric kidney research. I'm going to grad school for public health and health informatics. Woohoo.
Our wedding doesn't have a date yet, we are waiting for the craziness of moving and graduations to settle down. We have been together 8 years so I'm not pushing to get married in the next 6 months. He is more particular about the wedding than I am so I'm leaving some of the logistics up to him. I do know that it will be in Maui on the beach, with dinner/reception overlooking the ocean. Oh! And my one requirement for a venue is that they have an outdoor firepit for the evening.

  • Hello everyone! I've only wandered onto this board a few times, but I'll introduce myself :) I live with FI in the Baltimore area. We've been thinking about getting a dog, but it just isn't the right time as I'm hoping my career will start soon! I just graduated with a BA in Arabic. Our wedding is in October at home and we are going to Hawaii for two weeks for our HM! I love Harry Potter and fondly remember waiting in line all night at Barnes and Noble multiple times to get the newest book. I've been working on reading #1 in Arabic, but I get lazy sometimes and just go back to the English version :-D I'm currently trying to figure out the logistics for a weekend trip to FL to go to Harry Potter world since all our vacation time is used up by our honeymoon.
  • The drama was the best thing I've read in a while ...

    You know me - jenny.

Teacher, living up north with FI, getting married in August. I am divorced and have two kids; DS will be 13 next month (he lives with his dad and I miss him so much it breaks my heart), and DD just turned 10. She lives with us, and FI is amazing with her.

We have Chicot the husky, Lily (aka Lily-Bean) the terrier mix (she looks like a perfectly formed, miniature golden retriever), Maddy the cat (who will make the official move this summer. He's living with FI's mom right now). I also have a border collie-lab mix named Henry that is staying with DS.

Love GoT, can't wait for the premiere. I've read all the books except for the last one so far, and have also worn out a kobo. I bought a playbook to replace it, but haven't gotten to download anything yet. As a junior high teacher, I do the scholastic book orders, and now have a box full of YA lit to read before I put it on my classroom shelf!

I LOVE snowmobiling, cross country skiing and snowshoeing, but am really a summer girl at heart. I love to travel; and two years ago I decided that I wanted to go to Cuba, so I did. Alone. Hopped a plane and spent a week among strangers in a foreign country. It was awesome.

I used to work for a fashion designer and managed her bridal salon. Wrote a book that's being considered by a publisher.

Not really an exciting life story, but it's mine!

He works out of state, and I've got a lot of free time on my hands that I'm not used to since I"m on a career hiatus, so I'm afraid you're stuck with me if you choose to be on TK much.
