Re: A bridesmaid question...

  • Are all y'all dresses the same color? because if they are y'all need to buy them all together so they can dye them together. If it is not the same color you can wait on it.
  • My wedding is in June and had my BM order their dresses by the end of this weekend from David's Bridal.  I was told the latest they would come in is May 7th.  Since the wedding is in July I would think that waiting another month would be fine.  But I agree that you should call AA to make sure.

  • Another way you could go would be to let the Bride know you are having some trouble with money this money. I'm sure she would be willing to front you the money until you can pay her back. That way you make sure you order the dress in time!  If you were my bridesmaid I'd be more than willingly, but thats JMO.

    Good luck!
  • I agree with asking AA when you need to order, and how much a rush fee is, if needed.  I'd also give your bestie a heads up about your situation, if she's expecting you to buy this month.  That way there's no expectations that are going unfufilled, and everyone's on the same page.

I would think that you could probably wait another month and still be ok, but I didn't use AA so I don't know.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: A bridesmaid question... : I don't think this is as big an issue as bridal shops would like you to believe.  They've been telling brides that forever, but I've been in several weddings where we disregarded the dire warnings about dye lots, and there was absolutely no difference in the dress colors.  For their convenience, they would rather have one order to deal with instead of a bunch of individual orders.  Personally, I don't agree that their convenience should outrank the customers' convenience.

<div>Actually, we ordered our BM dresses together and the jr BM dress slightly after (same colour and fabric) and requested that they be cut from the same cloth.... well, they didn't cut from the same cloth, though they said they would "try"... there is a noticeable difference in colour (we got a cornflower blue).. one of the blues is slightly more purply than the other... not the end of the world, i'm not going to go and find another dress, it's just annoying... so definitely order them together - do everything you can to make sure that they're the same colour... even if it might not come out like that.</div>
