When I first came down to the US, H used to keep soda in the house, and I would drink it. I never ever had it around as a kid, so when I started drinking it that often, I would wake up in the middle of the night with the back of my throat burning like I was just about to throw up. Blargh. I still refuse to drink carbonated stuff more than maybe 1 a day, and I usually can't finish that.

That's exactly the reaction I had when I found out about gluten issues. I spent 25 years of my life thinking it was normal to feel bloated, crampy, and uncomfortably full for the rest of the day after eating one piece of toast for breakfast. I convinced myself I was overeating constantly.

<div>I spent 30 years of my life thinking that stomach acid in your mouth was normal. And that everyone had to sleep on an incline. And that everyone was inches away from vomiting at least once a week. And that drinking soda made them feel like they were dying.</div>
I had to be tested for GERD before I had sinus surgery a few years back. She wanted to make darn sure what was irritating my throat was drainage coming down and not reflux coming UP. It was not so pleasant. And I didn't have it. So, had my sinuses roto-rooted. Also not so pleasant, but effective.

J, I mean, soda is delicious and all. It's almost worth it sometimes. From a fountain though, not a can or bottle. Fountain doesn't make me feel quite as schitty.
Sesh, Try it with an "N" Noelle is hard to alliterate without using narcotic or narcoleptic.
