Yeah, apparently this arose out of her desire to get to wear her wedding gown again because she loves it so much.  So she's going to have it shortened and wear it to her vow renewal.

I also judge the girls on weddingbee right now who are talking about how they didn't/won't add up all their wedding expenses, so they have no clue what the total actually is.  How... what?  Do not comprehend.

Yeah, I'm down in Watertown, so the evening classes in Newton are all too convenient (doesn't mean I go though).  Thanks for the heads up!  I might look into Candy's.
  • I judge the mom in my store the other day with her two toddler boys.  They were screaming and racing around the tables, and throwing their matchbox cars at things and OTHER CUSTOMERS.  The mom (when she actually looked up from what she was doing) said, "ok, guys, that's enough" in the calmest voice ever.  I'm pretty sure she did that about 8 times.  I'm all for remaining calm and not freaking out on your children, especially in public, but if that approach is not working, it's time to step it up.

I heard her say to someone else jokingly that they must be great birth control--no, lady.  I still want kids, but you better believe my children will not be out of control like that in a store without me actually disciplining them.

I'm getting a more difficult name too.  I'm going from the simplest, easiest to spell/pronounce last name to a name that popularly is mispronounced because of a semi-famous actor.  My FMIL uses her maiden name when making reservations, and I might have to do the same.

  • It doesn't happen often but sometimes people ask me how to spell my first name. I'm like really? It's common and there is just one way to spell it.

People always see T's last name and go "uh..Mr. Brad E?" or "bratty". I'm like c'mon, its Brady, just like the Brady Bunch!
  • People who don't clean up their dogs poop in public places. We live in an apartment complex - the entire lawn doesn't belong to you and your dog.

People who fail to understand the concept of turn lanes. Get your ENTIRE car in the turn lane, THEN slow down, then turn. Don't straddle the two lanes as you slow down, then finally turn your signal on one second before you actually make your turn. Wrong, wrong, wrong.

People who wait and wait to order new contacts, and then throw a shit-fit that we won't just give them a free pair of trials when they rip, lose, or give up on the bacteria-and-protein coated ones they'd been using for the last 3 months. No, this is a store, not an extension of your medicine cabinet. Do you go to the grocery and ask them to just give you two eggs because you don't feel like buying a whole dozen? You can order an entire box of contacts and put on your damn glasses in the mean time. Your poor planning is not my problem.
  • ...people who have to veer in the opposite direction they are going before they turn. Why do you need to move left into my lane to make a right hand turn? You're not driving a bus, that's a Camry and it's not necessary.

Yes! That kind of goes along with mine about people who straddle the lanes when using a turn lane. Hello! Leave the other lanes for the thru-traffic. I've seen people do that, swing out wide before making the turn. I don't know if these people are used to driving RVs or work as bus driver's during the day or what.

Also, thought of another one. People who feel the need to back into their parking spaces when there is no obvious reason for it. Especially in crowded parking lots.  It's like they think they are so important they just might have to leave in a hurry and having parked backwards will save them 0.4 seconds when they jump in their car and make a break for it.
  • She was TOO SCARED to do jury duty so she just... didn't show up?

The scariest part about jury duty for me was the subway to get to and from the court house.

Oh for the love of God.  The parties in the case she may have been seated for should be thanking their lucky stars she's too stupid and ill informed about her civic duty.

Really simple answer though:  You don't show up for jury duty, you are in contempt of court and can be fined or jailed at the judge's discretion.  It's going to be a fine unless you really piss off the judge.

  • Speaking of names, my first, middle and last name get butchered all the time. I've given up on my first name, but I think my middle name is fairly common - it's Caitlin, and most people, I guess, aren't used to it being spelled with a 'C'? I get asked all the time, "are you sure?"

    Um, yeah. It's MY name.
