Just a fun topic of conversation, by no means meant to insult or offend. What are some wedding styles, traditions, etc. that just rub you the wrong way? Not even necessarily considered "tacky," or against etiquette. I'll start:
Gloves. I HATE the way long, white, satin gloves look on a bride. It makes me think of an old 19th century wedding and just bothers me.
Now you go.
Re: Wedding Pet Peeves
Another pet peeve: I hate it when the couple is introduced as Mr. and Mrs. John Last Name. Same kind of thing as man and wife with me, but worse! (For that reason, I can't ever imagine myself addressing an envelope as Mr. and Mrs. John Last Name). Etiquette be darned, it's just not happening on an invite I send out.
Hehe.

Right there with you.
I hate dances like the hokey pokey and chicken dance at weddings. I think it's lame.

I have to admit, I'm all about the Cupid Shuffle and Cha Cha Slide. Are those passe now?
I *personally* and can't stress that word enough - don't enjoy formal weddings. I've attended several where I felt like I should be meeting royalty and have a minimum salary just to attend..just not my style.

<div>That's interesting - I get what you're saying but if you can't be formal on your wedding day, when can you be?</div>

<div>I like gloves on certain brides, with certain dresses, in certain weddings. I've thought about wearing them to mine! :D</div>
GPB I HATE gloves too! They make me think of Cinderella..like really you're not a Disney princess.

<div>Why does everyone hate these so much - I'm not big on HP, but chicken dance is sort of old-school fun. </div>

<div>I am wondering the same thing...</div>
I agree with the long gloves, I think it's dumb. I also have a thing against colored wedding dresses. If it's a formal wedding, then I think the dress should be white (or off white, or ivory). I'm mostly talking against those pink dresses you see on SYTTD. I have an issue with those for some reason. Also the see through wedding dresses- the ones where you can see your stomach through the sheer fabric. Save it for the bedroom, please.
I also have an issue with ceiling drapings. I get that if you have the money, then I guess go for it, but I just think it's a waste of money. No one is going to remember if you had a ceiling draping or not. I don't know, I just think it's too expensive for what you're getting. Some fabric on the ceilng for a few hours while you have a party. Seems obsessive. But, I'm not a fancy person.
My favorite:
Can you find the bouquet?
I hate pushy people who practically force you to do the money dance, and do it more than once...or make a comment if you only give/have a small bill. I don't ever carry cash....and I think it's kind of tacky. That's what showers and gifts are for. The last wedding i was in did this, and it was just terrible.. Soooo not gonna happen at my wedding

<div>I hate the money dance - that is so tacky - people are already spending money on your shower gift, wedding gift, maybe an outfit, maybe a hotel stay. Then you're going to hit them up for money during a dance where everyone's watching you - TACKY!</div>
I think dancing down the asile isn't unique it's lame.
I hate cake smashing. ::shrugs:: Just my preference. I think it looks mean, rude, and disrespectful.
And the knife against the neck photo op- Don't like that either.
I absolutely hate buck/stag and does. The fundraising ones. I know they're super popular where I am but I just can't stand them.
I dislike headtables with the entire wedding party being put on display. I don't get it, I just don't like it. And I don't like the reasons people use to justify why people should have them (uniformity, photo ops, etc.). Same with matchy matcy bridesmaids. I absolutely hate buck/stag and does. The fundraising ones. I know they're super popular where I am but I just can't stand them.

Great minds think alike ;)
I had a conversation with my friend about this today, so those two things were at the forefront of my mind with wedding talk aha.

I had to google this- <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stag_and_doe" rel='nofollow'>http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stag_and_doe</a>
Gosh...I wouldn't like that wedding tradition AT ALL! It's worse then a money dance!!
Lovely photos Lunar!
Oooh, I also hate the money dance. And so help me, if I get married and my husband smashes cake in my face in front of everyone, I would be SUPER mad. (Boyfriend knows this is an unforgivable offense). Lovely photos Lunar!
Posted by becunning2
I told Andrew I would go in the bathroom and cry is he smashed cake in my face. I'll probably spend HOURS getting my hair and makeup done to look beautiful for him...and photos...
I would be devistated if he did it. It just seems so mean!
ETA: Besides- if Andrew wants to play dirty with cake...it should be naked in the bedroom. Ha.
