Re: Honeymoons

  • We are actually just going to visit some family for a few days in Dallas, Texas. Room and board is taking care so why not? I heard San Francisco is fun and lots to do depending on your interests. I wish I could go on a cruise or something but going to save and plan that for next year.
    Anniversary Vacation
  • We are going to Italy!!!! I'm so excited about this. I've never been to Europe. We are going for 10 days a couple days after our wedding.  San Fransisco is a wonderful choice.  Really beautiful there.

I've heard awesome things about San Francisco!  We were considering it, as we want to stay in the US since my FI's military orders are still up in the air so we might need to reschedule last minute (thank goodness for Southwest - no change fees!)

We're heading to Oregon & Washington because we wanted to go wine tasting and beer tasting, and didn't want to pay Napa prices.  We're really excited about it and have found some AWESOME deals by signing up for LivingSocial for both Portland and Seattle!

We plan to do a really big trip to Asia next year before we start trying for babies.  We couldn't do it this time around because of budget and potential time constraints.  Ah, well!

  • I have an uncle who lives in San Francisco and loves it there.  My parents have been out to visit him a couple of times and they have a ton of fun every time.  I've never been personally.  FI and I are doing a Mediterranean Cruise for our honeymoon.

  • I was supposed to go to Iowa, but my brother decided to have a ritzy DW 6 months after our wedding, so I can't afford a honeymoon now. Makes me sad, because we were really excited.
  • i have been to san francisco a bunch of times and i love it! it depends what you guys want to do though. Dan and I want to relax on a beach, and do some activities that we wouldn't get to do here (like surf), so we are going to hawaii.
    Happily married since 9/1/2012!

That's a real bummer that you have to change your honeymoon plans. Hopefully you can take a few days for yourself whereever your brother's wedding is held... make a mini-honeymoon out of it.

Well, My fiance has been there & I would love to see the bridge, go to the beach just sight see I guess. What are all the fun things to do up there? When does the fog come, in the morning? And if we go up there, will it ruin my time up there?

Since you're a WA local, any suggestions for Seattle?  We have a B&B booked for Walla Walla for a few days, though I'm not sure which wineries we want to hit yet, but we haven't made plans yet for our 3 days in Seattle!

  • We are just going to wing it and book a last minute deal in January to somewhere HOT!
My son starts grade 1 in September and we love the fall in this area so going away in the winter is much more appealing - hopefully Jamaica ;)

    Posted by melissasdwedding[/QUOTE]

September and October are historically the warmest, least foggiest months in San Francisco. So, you should be fine for weather.  That is actually why we picked September for our wedding date, because we knew we would have less of a chance of bad weather (although, we rarely have "bad" weather, just sometimes, it's cooler than others).

The fog normally rolls in across the bridge/bay in the morning and burns off by 10am on good days, noon or 1pm on really foggy days.

there are TONS of things to see, things to do, etc.  But, if you are looking to lounge on a beach in a bikini, this is not the spot.  The average temperature is about 65-75.  It can get to 80-85, but the breeze keeps it cool.

But, honestly, I can't figure out who wouldn't want to visit/live here???

I JUST took this picture a minute ago to add to my post.  this is a view from my office window right now.

  • Think we are going back to Riviera Maya. It was our first "real" vacation together when we first started dating (it was a family affair, both sets of parents went) It was great! We wanted to go somewhere new... but nothing is jumping out at us and we LOVED Riviera Maya!

That's awesome! When are you going? We leave to go on the 17th (getting married on the 15th) and we leave to come home on the 26th. 3 days in Banff and 4 days in Jasper. But we're flying into Spokane. Flying into Calgary was much more $$. So we're taking a 6-hour drive to Banff.

There's no way I can do a beach for a week. Too boring, and I'd be burnt to a crisp. FI is looking at his travel books every day it seems. He's so pumped!

I can't wait to take LOTS of pictures.
