[QUOTE]Aaliyah was a semi-popular singer in like the late 90s maybe? I think its A-lee-ah. That's also one of the top rising baby names in the US, like top 50 maybe.

You are right about the singer and the pronunciation of her name, but I was told they are pronouncing it differently.  I think that is what I don't like about it because it sounds like they are saying a liar.

<div>Hollis. The first Hollis I ever knew was female, and the main (female) character in a book that I quite like is named Hollis. But it really is a boy's name, and I don't think I want to saddle my daughter with that.</div>

[QUOTE]My favorite bloggers kids are named "Archer, Fable, Reverie, and Boheme" (I think it's Boheme, whatever, they call her Bo) I like the name Archer. Fable is a little much for me.

Girls gone child ftw! Love those names. At least she's a writer so she can get away with crazy names. <div> :) </div>

[QUOTE]Meadow is a girl.  I think I'll one up that ho and name our baby Pasture.  Or maybe... Lagoon.  I also have a former classmate who named her daughter Kinlyn.  Barf.

  • What gets me is that these ridiculous parents with the crazy spellings/y obsession get all up in arms when you don't pronounce their kid's name correctly.  I mean, you are the one that set up little baby EmiLaallisaasa up for a lifetime of name-woes, don't blame me.
Also I remember when Gwyneth Paltrow named her daughter Apple I thought that was the stupidest name ever, but it seems that there is a comeback of crazy nature names that hippies in the 60's gave themselves.
