[QUOTE]In Response to Re:Donation Card Placement: I feel ya, Steph. All through the end of the housing bubble, everyone and their pet gerbil were pressuring us to buy a house. When it burst and the economy went to spit, it stopped for about 2 weeks. Now, everyone's back on this kick of homeownership somehow being a mark of adulthood, and it frustrates me to no end. I get especially irritated when people a somehow act like we're financially irresponsible or unstable because we rent or b insinuate that having the money for a downpayment is all you need to be able to afford a house.

</div><div>The thing that makes me crazy, is that I have run the numbers on our target areas where we'd want to live if we did decide to buy, and taking into consideration both the cost of housing here (absurdly high, even post-crash) and the high, high, HIGH property taxes, owning a home is not cheaper than renting.  In fact, we'd be losing money if we owned instead of renting for the first TWENTY TWO years of home ownership.  I tell people this, and they look at me like I have three heads and all three of my heads have just told them to go fluck their mother.
