Attire for Engagement Party

I am struggling with what I should wear to my own engagement party. It's nothing really formal. My mother and faither-in-law are having everyone over to their house for finger foods and such. Do I need to wear white? I am a t-shirt and jeans kind of girl but I want to look good at my own party. What should I wear?

You don't need to wear white.

Dress for the formality of the party. I wore jeans to my e-party but slacks or a skirt could be fine too.

No, you don't need to wear white. I wore a black cocktail dress to our engagement party since it was a cocktail party. If your party is going to be less formal, I'd suggest a nice top and skirt or a less formal dress such as a sundress or something.
