Biggest Fear?

What is your biggest fear for your wedding day?

Mine would be getting the flu or some other uncontrollable illness. I have a sliding hiatal hernia which causes horrible reflux - so I feel kinda nauseated a lot of the time - but I'm terrified of ending up really sick on my big day and not being able to enjoy it at all.  I don't even care if other things go wrong. I just wanna be healthy enough to enjoy it!

Re: Biggest Fear?

  • That it will be extremely hot or rain for my outdoor wedding/picnic, that I will trip or do something equally stupid.

My reception is at a weekend long concert of local bands that benefits a local child with cancer. We are good friends with a lot of the band members of the different groups that are playing. I am scared they are gonna drag me up on stage in front of about 500 people. I was pretty nerve racked when my FI proposed to me in front of about 100 on stage for another event.

  • I have Guttate Psoriasis. It is not always present but it comes after I have a bad viral infecton like strep throat. It appeared its ugly head right before my sisters wedding but with wonderful help from my derm and some great meds she gave me, it was almost not noticable during my sis' wedding. Now I am freaking it will happen a few days before my big day......and the nightmares I keep having about them are not help! ;-)

MeliMel, is it something that happens more often with stress? Maybe planning ahead for some pampering for yourself and getting the meds ahead of time will make you worry less about it.

  • It can be caused by stress but mostly viral infections.....if I see anyone sick in the next few months I am definitely running from them!  ;-)

But I like the idea of pampering myself....it'll be a good excuse to use towards FI....'honey I gotta go to the spa today and spend money on a massage and all the works to make sure my psoriasis doesn't act up.'       hehe
  • does taking airborn to boost your immune system help?  I swear by that stuff.  I am a substitute teacher and take it every day during cold/flu season and while I am working in all the elementary classes for sick teachers, surrounded by sick kids, I never get sick.  Just a thought.  I hope we all stay healthy!

Mine is rain. I am having an outdoor ceremony and outdoor lawn games at the wedding. Though I would be upset about not being able to have use of the lawn games, there would still be dancing so I wouldnt bew too upset. What would really bother me is that the back-up plan for the ceremony if it rains is to stuff everybody inside my reception place...but not with everybody at the tables (though I will fight for that if it rains)... they want to squeeze all 120 guests onto the dance floor which is a tented deck. I've seen pictures of another bride who had to do this... and let me just tell you, VFW's had nicer looking ceremonies. This would really upset me if it were the case.... but I'm trying not to think about it

  • this probably sounds strange Hope it's not to much TMI, but my biggest fear is my period.  I picked the 4th to avoid it completely, and within the last several months my cycle has been changing and now I think I might be on my period for the wedding--which isn't a huge deal, except I get such bad cramps and headachs and some other pretty bad side effects that even with meds I am pretty miserable for a few days
  • I am terrified that no one will show up. My family  likes to RSVP but never show up :(

april I started the 17th and I thought, yeahhhhhh I'm safe.  may I started the 31st and only lasted three days.  I even took a couple preg. tests that's so weird for me.  Now I don't have a clue.  I am taking a ton of vitiam c (i read on a pp somewhere that vitamin C will help start a period early).  I hate not knowing what's going on lol
  • I also hope I don't feel sick in anyway.  I also have reflux that can just make me miserable and there are no "trigger" foods to avoid in my case.

I am also hoping for no rain since we are at a park for the ceremony (in a building), but it's a 200M walk from the parking lot and I want pics out in the park.

I am also hoping I didn't plan too much at once because I have the wedding in which we need to leave the venue before 11:30pm, then I am competing in a triathlon in the morning that we will need to leave home around 4:45am for.  Then, we have a flight to catch that afternoon that we will need to leave home around noon for.  I'm a bit bummed I won't get to open my gifts until our return.

As far as "getting your period" talk.. I was worried about this because I am right on par to have it for both the wedding and part of the honeymoon. I have read (and obviously talk to your doctor about this first) that if your on birth control you skip the last week (the 'sugar pills') and start on a new package and you'll skip your period and it doesn't heighten your chances of getting pregnant. Some women still spot slightly or have cramps or whatever normal symptoms you get during the time... but for the most part you skip it. That's what I'm going to have to do because for the last 6 months I have had it the last week of the month... and the wedding is August 25th.. oh joy! lol

  • My biggest fear is health/physical ailments.  I woke up with very swollen eyelids one morning 3 weeks ago, and 2 weeks ago, I woke up with swollen eyelids again and broke out in hives (on my face!).  It's never happened before! My doctor said it could be an allergic reaction and/or my eczema flaring up.  She prescribed me prednisone, so if it happens the week of the wedding, I should be OK with medication, but if it happens the morning of, I might not have enough time to fix it!

Until then, I'm going to be very careful with what I eat & only eat foods I know I'm not allergic to, and avoid any new skin products (and keep my fingers crossed that I don't have any problems with my makeup trial!).

I'm also afraid of falling or running into something and hurting myself--and this is a totally reasonable fear--I once broke my leg on vacation! :(

  • Mine is rain. We having our wedding and reception at an outddor venue. I am also scared that everything won't flow right. I'm too cheap to hire a coordinator.

  • I"m not on birth control because right after the wedding my FI and I want to start trying for a baby (we're no spring chickens).  He's 40 and I'll be 34 right after the wedding and I don't want to wait much longer, so I just have to deal with what mother nature is going to throw my way I guess...but if anyone has suggestions to try along with the vitiam c, please let me know.

I will likely be having my period on the wedding day too (boo!) But honestly I'd rather have it then than during our two weeks in Italy.

My biggest fear would probably be an illness for me, FI or a close friend/family member. As long as everyone is there I will take whatever comes our way, even extremely hot or rainy weather! Our ceremony is supposed to be outside but if it rains or is super hot we can do it inside. The reception is inside too.

My skin has been jacked up lately... ON MY FACE!. I've got ezcema on the lefft side of my face that suddenly showed up when I moved to California. If that wasn't bad enough, when I went back to NYC for a visit, my face broke out into hundreds of tiny bumps all over my face! I looked like a braille dictionary!

So far, that's subsided, but now I have something else going on with my face now.

How is a photographer supposed to make you look beautiful if your face won't cooperate? And my mother insists on pointing it out every time she remembers. UGH!

I actualyl do this, all the time. I take ortho tricylclin (actually, enpress the generic) on a 21 day schedule , so I take it consectuively for 3 months and then stop and get my period. I've been doing it for years.
If you are considering doing this for your wedding START now. so that you have two months to build this up, because at first you will still spot!! So you need to start this month and next. Actually, my dr said its totally fine and healthy and i've had a few dr's opinions on it- so i love it, i get 4 periods a year!

My biggest fear is being sick. It hrow up when i get anxious so i had to get a prescription of an anti anxiety that i can take half a pill of a few hours before i get ready (i took half of one before my shower, which is only 12.5 mg and isnt NAYHTINg but its a mind over matter that i took it)...or eating something bad and getting sick

my friend went for sushi on thurs before her saturday wedding with her wedding party and they all got food posioing. the groom threw up outside of htechurch

the bride was hte only one not sick because she decided she wasnt that in the mood for sushi and only had a few pieces.

Not to disgust everyone, but the health board ended up closing down the place because there was rat droppings in the food.

They bridesmaids took shifts taking naps in the bridal suite, or thorwing up and tending to the bride.

this is also a big fear of mine. My FMIL is in charge of the rehersal dinner (which is at a park) and keeps waning to make mac salad and other mayo/dairy based foods.  I"m BEGGING her to stick with stakes, corn and potatoes cooked on the grill and a veggie tray.  I can only imagine my sensitive stomach with iffy mayo products and stress...ugh.

  • My biggest fear is that ever since I had my first son I get cysts all the time. I also have wicked denditive skin to bug bites. So this past month I got bit on the eye lid and my eye swelled up so bad I couldnt open it. Then as soon as that went away I ended up with a cyst on my eye brow that made my eye swell right back up. By the time that went away I had a huge black eye from all the swelling. I am so afraid that Im going to have something freakish like that happen again right before the wedding and Im gonna look like a monster!

  • Mine is also illness.  Over the last few months I've had a nasty virus, and several stress related symptoms... tummy in knots, migraines, etc.  My brain isn't stressed but my body is!  I just want to feel my best so I can enjoy the day!

I am in the process of adjusting my period in this way right now. I thought I had calculated it all 6 months ago, but turns out I miscounted, and with no intervention my period would have started ON the wedding day. For some people this might be ok, but I have PMDD, and I will already be a blubbering mess, so to get my period would really make me a crying fool. I talked to my Dr, and she said exactly this. So, though I should have my period right now, I am adjusting so that I will get it a week before the wedding, and then I won't get it again until we return from our honeymoon. There is risk of spotting etc. but my dr. said the pregnancy risk does not increase, and usually this adjustment is successful. Praying she is right!

  • My biggest fear is my family drinking too much and causing a big scene. Its happened before... my and Fi's families are so different, that I know they would talk for decades if there was drama. I've already had an individual talk with every person in my family, and i really hope they take it seriously.

Beyond that, I worry about getting a migraine or tripping!
