So I have a groupon for a haircut and color, and my appointment is tomorrow! Yay!
I just need help deciding what to ask for. I don't get my hair cut often (last appointment was August 09, no lie) and I've NEVER gotten it professionally colored, so I'm clueless.
So this is me, taken last September:

My hair is blonde and pretty much one length (an inch-ish longer than shown here) with remnants of side-bangs. I have horrible split-ends from neglect and overuse of the straightening iron.
I don't want to go too short, but other than that, I'm open to all ideas.
Also, I can choose between all-over high-lights or all-over color. I have roots showing from an at-home coloring job last fall.
Go!

[QUOTE]I think you would look awesome as a red head, especially with those waves.

Good call Panda!! I concur.

Ekath - It's about average thickness, and naturally wavy bordering on curly. I have frizz issues, though.
[QUOTE]Oooh I love the idea of red hair, but I don't know if I have the nerve. I've never been anything but blonde! Ekath - It's about average thickness, and naturally wavy bordering on curly. I have frizz issues, though.

[QUOTE]I love red hair, too! The picture Panda posted is very pretty. I'm blonde, Elle, and I dyed my hair red. The stress is over shortly after you do it. It does take a little getting used to, but then you'll love it! At least that is how I felt about mine. The only issue with red is that it can fade fast. I would expect the color to last longer if it's done at a salon, though.

Yeeaaahhh... I've heard stories about blondes going red and eventually ending up with pink hair due to fading. My hair doesn't hold color that well in the first place. Once I dyed it a dirtier blonde than my natural shade, and within a few weeks it was basically back to normal. This scares me, too.
Am I being overly-dramatic?
But I really think it would look good on you. It was just the first thing that popped into my head when I saw your pic.

I don't think you're being dramatic. I was nervous the first time I dyed my hair red. Like I said, I think this color should hold better because it will be professionally done. I always use a box dye, because I'm cheap. You could try going with an auburn color. It should fade pretty naturally. And if you absolutely hate it, you can remove it with stuff called ColorFix from Sally Beauty for $13. You can PM me if you have other questions about going from blonde to red.
I do think red would look FANTASTIC - I'm also a fan of warm auburn:
[QUOTE]I agree on the red. I do recommend not going too dark though! A girl in my class just went red, and then she wore a green shirt and it looked like she was a poster child for an elf casting. But I think with your complexion and color of hair now, it should look really good :) Especially with the cut that Panda posted! Can't wait for pictures!

Hahaha! Thanks for the warning.
Also, thanks Allie and Cate for chiming in.
I think I'm just going to ask the colorist what she thinks about red. If she doesn't seem to think it's a good idea, I'll just go with a dark blonde/light brown.
Also, I mentioned this thread to FI, and he doesn't want me to go red. That kinda makes me want to do it more.

Haha... I love you for that! My guy knows better than to offer his advice on my hair color or cut. I'm stubborn as an ox, and will happily do something drastic just to prove I can!
[QUOTE]Remember, if you don't like it you can always redo it. Whenever I ask fi if I should redo my hair, he says "whatever you want". Then when I do it, he always says "I liked it better before". Gah! I can never win with him so I just do what I want. :)

Why can't men just say what they mean? BF does the same thing all the time. I asked him the other day if I should go blonde, and he said "Whatever you want", and then texted him as I was picking out a color and he was like "I like it the way it is now." Someday, I'll shave my head and buy a pink wig just to annoy the crap out of him.

BUT DO THE RED!

Wow....you look EXACTLY like this girl who went to my high school but graduated like the year before me. That's insane. I mean you're almost identical.
ETA: I went red this summer and loved it, but be warned (from me, a cosmetologist in training) it is a very hard color to keep up. It may require retouching every month because it fades extremely fast, especially if you shampoo it every day! I highly recommend in investing in a quality shampoo like Redken, rinsing your hair with cold water, and NOT shampooing every day. Trust me if you wash it every day, it WILL fade fast.
I think it will look fantastic on you, but I just want you to know how much the maintenance is. I wish someone would have warned me....I loved my red hair but alas money was low so I had to go to an easier color. :(

Thanks for the warning. Also, that girl at your high school must have been really pretty.
