Mascara that doesn't flake?

I have deep set eyes, heavy lids, and LONG lashes.  My personal Holy Grail is mascara that won't flake and leave raccoon eyes that comes with one of those spiky plastic seperating brushes.  Regular mascara brushes just stick my lashes together so after one coat I look like Tammy Fae.  I have tried every drugstore brand and am moving on to more expensive stuff, but after spending $27 on Doirshow and having the same problem, I am a bit miffed and scared to waste any more $...so what really works?

Re: Mascara that doesn't flake?

  • i understand  ur pain :) my lashes are long and iv had  that same problem i use dior iconic and nars is a great option but we warned Nars requires a great waterproof makeup remover to get it off :) but it will stay put.
  • Have you tried waterproof formulas? I have flaking problems only when I don't use waterproof mascaras. (To make it easier to get off at the end of the day, put a layer of non-waterproof on first.)

FWIW, I know a few ladies have had problems with DiorShow. A higher price tag does not automatically equate to a better product.

I like Bare Escentuals' waterproof mascara. I find it really doesn't flake or smear -- I've absentmindedly rubbed my eyes and still not had raccoon eyes.
  • Neither have the comb brushes, but my personal faves are Blinc Kiss Me Mascara and Imju Fiberwig.  Both are more like painting your lashes and I've never had problems with smearing with either of those.  FIberwig has little fibers in it that attach to your lashes, making them appear longer.  I love using Blinc with Fiberwig over that for added length.  The new Givency mascara with the ball on the end is pretty good too.  They can all be bought at Sephora.

I had problems with the DiorShow as well.  Luckily, Sephora accepts returns!  I would have been hot had I been stuck with that tube of junk!

  • I love the new Nars mascara, but it honestly takes days to remove (and my eye makeup remover is awesome...). Lancome mascara is really great and I've never had any problems with theirs. Try the "Definicils". It comes in waterproof, but the regular one is great too. For a little more drama, Lancome's "Fatale" is really cool, but you have to practice with the unusual wand.

i use "Kiss Me Mascara" - they call it a tubing formula becuase it cases lashes in little tubes. Its waterproof, and i like it alot
  • my fav is the Supernova mascara by Fresh.  it has conditioners and strentgheners in it, so your lashes stay soft, instead of getting crunchy and flaky.  i have the same issue with deep set eyes and long lashes, and have tried just about every mascara in the game, from when i was a makeup artist.
