Re: Sound off! One! Two! Sound off! Many! Lots!

  • I'll start :)

What kind of event are you planning?: Formal, Evening wedding.

What are your colors?: Pomegranate-ish red, Brown, and Green

Are you having a theme? What is it?: We're using a lot of Medieval (specifically Tudor) touches.

Have you chosen a venue? Share a fun fact about your Venue!:
We already chose the venue (two years in advance, we're nuts). Fun fact: it was the first venue we looked at, we just fell in love completely.

    Venue Pic

Have you chosen your dress? What's it like?: I have a design, but we're going to get it custom made, here's the inspiration

Fun fact: it was the first venue we looked, at we just fell in love completely.

What's your favorite thing you've picked so far?:

The Venue, but I also love my Decor inspiration! We're going to use wintery fruits to give it a cozy castle vibe.

Is your FI a chap wedding planner, or the 'whatever you say' type?: He's highly laid back about everything.  He vetoed my desire to have bubbles, but that's been it so far.

Other:  I'm really excited because I just found a pic that shows the boutonnieres I want exactly!

For some reason I think that pheasant feathers with all the flowers look wintery/medieval.

Afternoon/evening, at a rustic mountain lodge, (<-- click) surrounded by woods and near a little pond.  Ceremony outside, weather permitting, at the gazebo.  Semi-formal attire though.

Navy blue for the BMs, royal purple for him, and lighter blues as accent colorss. The venue itself provides lots of greens and wood tones.

No theme.  I don't really like themes that much.  We're not the matchy matchy coordinated type.

We get the venue for the whole weekend, from 8am Friday morning to 11pm Sunday night, so we can have plenty of time to set up and tear down, can hold the rehearsal and dinner on site, and have a Sunday afternoon get-together on location.

This (<-- click) is my dress.  It is even more gorgeous in person, and way more flattering on this size 28, 5 ft tall, apple-shaped hobbit than I thought any dress could possibly be.

The venue is perfectly suited to us both, and my dress is stunning.

My FI is moderately well involved.  He volunteered to come to the bridal show, has opinions on flowers, is designing our website, and has attended every venue/vendor meeting except the dress ones, (and has been instrumental in making several choices,) but I often have to nag him to actually do the tasks he's volunteered for.

  • Your venue is absolutely beautiful!  It reminds me of the one in the 'real weddings' section of February's "Brides" magazine.
  • What kind of event are you planning?
We had a private ceremony with a reception later that day.

    What are your colors?
    Didn't have any

Are you having a theme? What is it?
    No

Have you chosen a venue? Share a fun fact about your Venue!
We got married in downtown Las Vegas

Have you chosen your dress? What's it like?
I didn't wear a dress to the ceremony, but here is the one for the reception.

What's your favorite thing you've picked so far?
This was my favorite wedding related item

Is your FI a chap wedding planner, or the 'whatever you say' type?
I am assuming the word is supposed to be"cheap".  He wasn't, but he wasn't a "whatever I say" type.  He had just as much say in the decisions.
    I'm not good at feelings.

  • Audgie- I really like that cake topper, so cute!

I went back and corrected my misspelling, oops! I meant to say 'champ wedding planner'.  Like, does he want to help a ton, or is he more just going with the flow?

What kind of event are you planning?: (Daytime, evening, casual, formal, destination?) Afternoon/early evening, semi-formal

What are your colors?: green, yellow, and red

Are you having a theme? What is it?: I guess it's kind of got a rustic, natural vibe.

Have you chosen a venue? Share a fun fact about your Venue!: Yes, I love our venue. It's a historical hall.

Moved to its present site in 1837 by twenty yoke of oxen and purchased by the Historical Society in 1918  to save it from development, it now stands at the base of Bates Hill which was the location of the original meeting house on the edge of the Village Green.

Have you chosen your dress? What's it like?: Yes, I LOVE my dress. It's a discontinued Oleg Cassini dress

What's your favorite thing you've picked so far?: Not a thing persay but I'd have to say my guy is the best choice I've made Wink

Is your FI a champ wedding planner, or the 'whatever you say' type?: Pretty much a "whatever you say kind of guy." It can be exasperating sometimes but mostly it just means I can't throw too many options and opinions at him at once. He still visited the venue and met with the photographer and has some opinions on his wedding ring (my heirloom engagement ring came with a matching band so already chosen!)

  • Your dress is beautiful! I especially love the veil.  It's probably very good that your guy is your favorite thing! Mine I could take or leave. (haha)
  • Yeah, I love my dress (and the veil was a MUST demanded by my mom and sister, lol) but the whole idea of actually being married to him is my favorite. Also, I just remembered how to PIP (duh) It's been kind of a long week Tongue Out

oh, please do! mine were his grandmother's. They're from 1954, I believe. I haven't resized the wedding band yet but my engagement ring about blew my mind when he gave it to me- I had no idea he had it, never saw it before, and there he was on one knee in the middle of the woods, y'know?

And he apologized for not polishing it beforehand?? (This was taken the next day, before re-sizing/polishing/whatever else, lol) Silly man. Laughing

I had no idea either, until he sang a song he wrote for me, and ended with a spin that brought him down on one knee.  The inscription inside what will be his wedding band is from his great-grandfather's wedding in 1921.

I love your response about your FI.  I wish I'd thought of it.  It's just too big and obvious a thing, that I never thought of it as part of the wedding planning.

  • I think it's so sweet when the engagement is a suprise. Ours came out of a long talk about what we were planning for our futures, so it kind of just happened, then we made a trip to my hometown so he could ask my dads permission, then I picked out my own ring.

    I love this post :)

What kind of event are you planning?:

We are having our ceremony in an apple orchard in the late afternoon

Our cocktail hour in the patio and garden following the ceremony

And our reception inside the ballroom

    What are your colors?:
We don't really have any set colors. The colors that will be present are shades that you would see in a wildflower garden with main accents of lavender.

Are you having a theme? What is it?:
Our theme, put simply is a wildflower garden with a rustic/vintage feel.

Have you chosen a venue? Share a fun fact about your Venue!:
Our venue is Perona Farms, which is in Andover N.J. Here is the website: http://www.peronafarms.com/

Fun fact: Our venue used to be a running farm!

Have you chosen your dress? What's it like?:
I love, love, love my dress. Here it is:

What's your favorite thing you've picked so far?:
    My FI :) Lol
Well I guess we picked each other..

Is your FI a champ wedding planner, or the 'whatever you say' type?:
He has just as much say as I do.

  • What kind of event are you planning?: Mid-afternoon 3:00pm ceremony

What are your colors?:   Blue, Orange ad Grey!  We will have FI in an ivory dress shirt with a blue tie and grey vest and grey pants... bridesmaid dress is blue and we'll be using orange and ivory flowers.

Are you having a theme? What is it?:  Not really a theme, going for an intimate and elegant feel... (We're only having 7 guests) - Our parents and Fi's daughter who is the maid of honor....

Have you chosen a venue? Share a fun fact about your Venue!: yes!!  It is a bed and breakfast that is in a beautiful mansion built in 1869.  It is stunning and on the national register of historic places. Ceremony will be in the garden.... after the ceremony - we will be having dinner at restaurant with a private dining room.

Have you chosen your dress? What's it like?:  yes, Alfred Angelo 2100... ruffled tiered bottom, gorgeous bling at the bust with a unique neckline..

What's your favorite thing you've picked so far?:  My chocolate and vanilla diamond wedding band and our matching tattoos that we wanted to have for the wedding pics and forever

Is your FI a champ wedding planner, or the 'whatever you say' type?:  FI has been involved in everything from day 1.  He is wonderful!!
  • What kind of event are you planning?: Early Evening, Semi-Formal

What are your colors?: Black, White, and a Clover Green

Are you having a theme? What is it?: We don't really have a theme. I like to say it's going to look elegant, and maybe a little old fashioned. Most people expect it to be Fall themed because it's in October, but I'm just not a fan of leaf decorations! Tongue Out

Have you chosen a venue? Share a fun fact about your Venue!:
Our ceremony venue is outside in a community garden. I'm hoping the trees will be blooming with color! The reception venue is pretty standard.

The only fun fact I have about my venue is that when we went to look at the reception hall they were setting up for a different party and they had a cage with a stripper pole inside set up on the dance floor. Man, I should've stayed for the party!!

Have you chosen your dress? What's it like?: I have not. I know what style I like, but I will decide for sure as my dress appointment is coming up in 3 weeks!

What's your favorite thing you've picked so far?: My favorite 'thing' is actually a decision I made last weekend at a bridal show to have mini-cupcakes for dessert instead of a big cake. The place we're using has over 50 flavors to choose from and I'm excited to offer my guests more than one flavor to taste.

Is your FI a champ wedding planner, or the 'whatever you say' type?:  FI will definitely share his opinion with me about things, but in the end it's always "whatever I want". It's kind of frustrating!
    Wedding Countdown Ticker
  • What kind of event are you planning?: Traditional saturday evening semi-formal... what I think most people think of when they think wedding (although the bridesmaid's dresses are short, and hopefully not ugly).

What are your colors?: Purple and green, maybe with little touches of silver and white accents in places.

Are you having a theme? What is it?: no theme other than the color scheme.

Have you chosen a venue? Share a fun fact about your Venue!:
Yup. Getting married in our hometown in FI's church, and reception is 2 towns away in a restaurant/supper club. Fun Fact? Um... because the banquet room wasn't big enough on it's own to hold 200 people, there's a divided section that can be opened up to the rest of the room, but it's on a platform, and I intend on putting all the kids up there for a special "kids area" to get them out of everyone's way.
(Here's a kinda crappy picture of the venue)

Have you chosen your dress? What's it like?: YES! I just bought my dress 3 weeks ago, and I love it. Here's a pic.

What's your favorite thing you've picked so far?: Well there's my FI, there's the dress, there's my cake topper...

Is your FI a champ wedding planner, or the 'whatever you say' type?: FI can actually be a pain. We're doing a LDR, so I need him to do a bunch of stuff that I can't do over the phone (I will give him credit, he picked out our venue all on his own, with some help from our moms). And so he's always either asking a ton of questions of me or trying to get out of doing things. I feel like I'm constantly nagging him. But then, when I do manage to get things accomplished without him, he turns on me, and says "But you never consulted me" or "But I had an opinion about that". Well then, why didn't you tell me?! It's very frustrating. And then there are some things that he's just hopeless about... right now we're in the midst of a spat because he wants to wear a white tux, and that's just... ugh. But there's not much I can do about it. So, is he a champ? Not exactly, but he's a good sport and he does have opinions. Sorry for the mini-vent.

    I'll add a question:
(If you're doing it) What's your "Something Old, new, borrowed, and blue"?
My something old will be my grandma's wedding ring tied to the stem of my bouquet
New can be anything- for the sake of the rhyme I'll say my dress
Borrowed I don't know yet- I'm hoping to borrow jewelry or hair accessory from someone
And blue I want to put our wedding date either in crystals on the bottom of my shoes or sewn into the lining of my dress (thank you pinterest).

Are you having a theme? What is it?:
~No specific theme but we want a whimsical, fun, unique wedding.

Have you chosen a venue? Share a fun fact about your Venue!:
~ We have chosen a venue called Regency Garden and a fun fact is that it has the same lights in the trees as DisneyLand :)

Have you chosen your dress? What's it like?:
~ I havent decided on a specific dress but i do have a few options, probably wont order for a few more months.

What's your favorite thing you've picked so far?:
~ Our colors is my favorite thing, it has allowed for my mom and sister to use them for our engagement party decorations and SCORE we have a bunch of decorations for the venue that I wont have to stress about doing closer to the wedding :)

Is your FI a champ wedding planner, or the 'whatever you say' type?:
~ My Fiance is a champ wedding planner, before we got engaged he said he didnt want to be one of those guys that just walks in on the day of and hasnt made any decisions, it has turned out pretty well

  • What kind of event are you planning?: Evening semi-formal

What are your colors?: Red, White & Black

Are you having a theme? What is it?: 1920's

Have you chosen a venue? Share a fun fact about your Venue!:
T-Plex in Detroit, fun fact is that it was Henry Ford's first Model T factory and it is now a Model T museum.

Have you chosen your dress? What's it like?: I haven't chosen my exact dress but I have a very very good idea of what I want and it is pretty simple.

What's your favorite thing you've picked so far?: I think my venue is my favourite thing I've picked, just because it's so unique and goes so perfectly with the theme I'm trying to pull off.

Is your FI a champ wedding planner, or the 'whatever you say' type?: I'm planning most of it but I run everything by him, he's had some good ideas and he wants input on everything, he just doesn't have the gumption to do all the research.

  • What kind of event are you planning?: It's going to be a very small, formal, evening wedding. Ceremony at 4ish with dinner following.

What are your colors?: Fall colors - dark red, dark orange, and black for the main colors with splashes of yellows and greens throughout (probably in my bouquet).

Are you having a theme? What is it?: Well, I don't have a technical theme, but I guess you could call it fall-themed. Also we're going to have some splashes of dragonfly things throughout for personal reasons (the dragonfly represents my dad who passed away when I was young). However, I don't really know if fall and dragonflies go together (I think that's more spring), so we're going to limit the dragonflies.

Have you chosen a venue? Share a fun fact about your Venue!:
We did find a venue and put a deposit down, but we're actually second-guessing whether we want to get married there or not. It's a small little chapel who only devotes 1 hour and 15 minutes to the wedding, pictures, everything. I don't really want to be rushed, so we're thinking about looking somewhere else.

Have you chosen your dress? What's it like?: I have not chosen my dress. It's still way too early.

What's your favorite thing you've picked so far?: I have this beautiful dragonfly hair clip that my FI got me for Christmas this year. It's my something blue. :)

Is your FI a champ wedding planner, or the 'whatever you say' type?: My FI is definitely helping me plan the wedding. He wants a say in everything, and we're debating whether he's going to go wedding dress shopping with me. It's his wedding too, so I'm glad he's helping me plan for it. :)

Sunflower Yellow, Horizon Blue, and White!

Are you having a theme? What is it?: Well... I'm doing picture frames and memories. So there will be pictures of us and our families/memories all over the reception.

Have you chosen a venue? Share a fun fact about your Venue!:
My venue is a lodge in Black Forest... and fun fact it is actually the contracting building for a house development! Bt it's super nice, and its also super cheap!

Have you chosen your dress? What's it like?: I secretly have 2... 1 is SUPER princessy, and the other is flowy and sexy!

What's your favorite thing you've picked so far?: probably... my flowers. I love them! that and my decorations

Is your FI a champ wedding planner, or the 'whatever you say' type?: Bit of both. He says he doesn't care, but if I don't include him he gets upset!

  • What kind of event are you planning?: (Daytime, evening, casual, formal, destination?): A typical semi-formal evening/nighttime event. Not sure on the timeline but the ceremony will probably be late afternoon or early evening, then a cocktail hour, dinner and of course dancing!

What are your colors?: Aqua and kelly green :-)
Here is a terrible mock up of the colors I made on polyvore:

Are you having a theme? What is it?: Not really, no.

Have you chosen a venue? Share a fun fact about your Venue!:
Yes! It's amazing. It's the Profile Event Center (Mpls). It's sooo pretty. It came highly recommended from the ladies on the MSP board :-)

Here's a pic.. we are thinking of doing the full draping package so the walls are all white, not red. The lighting can be changed to pretty much anything!

Have you chosen your dress? What's it like?: Not yet. I'm looking at halter or v-neck styles because that's what I've liked most out of the ones I've tried on! Here is my favorite so far:

What's your favorite thing you've picked so far?: Our reception hall! I just love it :-)

Is your FI a champ wedding planner, or the 'whatever you say' type?: I have to push him to make decisions sometimes. I asked him over and over if he was sure about the reception location because he didn't seem to care. So finally I was like "ok, I'm booking this ASAP. Yes or no!"

New Question: (stolen from a post) if you're doing it, what's your something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue? Not sure yet. New is easy since my dress will most likely be new. I might borrow jewelry (maybe something old!). Since blue is one of our colors, I'm sure I can find a way to incorporate it!
