  • I held back my sneezes for 20 or so years because I was afraid it would hurt my deaf ear. When I first injured my ear drum, I sneezed one day and thought I would die from the pain. For years after that I would squint my face and hold in my sneezes.

Then one day a sneeze slipped out at full force and didn't hurt my ear, so I started sneezing again. For all I know it could have stopped hurting to sneeze the very next day, but I held off trying it again for 20 years. It hurt that bad.

No english was my first language but I went to a Mohawk immersion school from K to grade 8, but in grades 7&8 thats when we began learning in english.

But its neat because after grade 8, we all went to public schools and were honors students. Mind you, there were only 5 of us, but still.

  • I'm (also) always singing, and fairly often, I'm doing it without realizing.  Shower, car, walking to or from class = singing.  I've had friends joke that I'm like a canary*; they know that I'm feeling down when I'm not singing.

*I'm not actually sure if canaries stop singing when they're sad, but roll with me here please. :)

From the time I was 4 or 5, I wanted to be a (type of) doctor.  Pediatric epidemiologist, then veterinarian.  I (somehow) ended up with a degree in Communication and Children's Literature but am now back in school for nursing.  Hello full circle.

Also, despite the fact that some people might label me as a "girly girl", I love getting dirty.  And horror movies.  LOVE LOVE LOVE horror movies.

Uh...this is hard. I've shared a lot about myself.

I know the majority of the dialoge from Home Alone and E.T.
  • I broke my left hip when I was 13 and because of that, I have horrible arthritis and have since I was 13. Also because of it, I can pop my hip completely out of socket on command and sometimes it does it when it wants to. LIke when i'm in a compromising position with my fiance. It's awkard and painful, but a neat party trick when I've been drinking and won't remember the pain the next day.

I can also wiggle my eyeballs. It's almost impossible to describe but completely freaky when I show people.

  • I know Lyss, it was a joke :)

I can remember dates like no other.  My girlfriend/hair stylist was like, what day I did I do your hair last?  Two months had passed.  I was like, "well i went to a party on the 19th and i went in a couple days before, so i you did my hair on the 17th."

I might not remember your exact birthday (if we're not close) but I will remember the month and about the time of month.  Fishy is the end of april or beginning of may.  Same with berry.  Alix is right around the canadian thanksgiving.  I want to say the 10th of october.

Re: arthritis and hips popping out. I've always had bad knees and ankles and they've both hurt me since I was a little kid. I finally connected my joint pain with weather pains, then went to the dr and was diagnosed with juvenile arthritis. My hips, although never broken, do the same thing at the most inopportune times. My big toes also pop out of place too, at awkward times. It's gross looking because when it happens, my big toe is basically perpendicular to my foot.

    Huh.

I did the same thing with reading.  One day I could just read stuff and nobody really knows how.  My mom says she thought I'd memorized all my books, so she went and bought me a new one and told me to read it to her, and I just did.

  • I'll join in on the blushing a lot group; Interesting fact: I read recently this is a sign of an over-active nervous system and people who blush easily are more likely to have migraine headaches.

Another point of random interest: The other night I fell asleep on the ground and my friends took a picture of me sleeping. In the morning we looked at said picture and realised that my arm was completely purple. It was totally horror-filled, and now she's uploaded said picture I'm debating showing it to you.

  • The first person I ever really went out with was 20 years older than me and was the head of security for the Miami Dolphins.

I've had the major bone leading to the big toe on each foot surgically broken and reset in order to alleviate and prevent bunions (they had to be removed, too).

The man who baptized me also helped marry me the first time; he was Dean when I was in college and the Presbyterian minister when my dad was there, and my mom was his secretary. And he shares our last name - but isn't related.

When I was 1.5 years old I had osteomylitis which ate a rather big hole through my femur in about 3 days.  I'm not sure if I was actually in danger of dieing, or if that's just my mom being dramatic, but she claims I could have died.

I also have a really bad blushing problem, and lately its mostly on the left side of my face, which is really weird to me. My left cheek will turn bright red, but that's all.

That's nuts! My hips make a snapping sound when I walk, and before I broke my hip, the doctor said it was because I have asymmetrical hips and my hip bones don't fit inside the socket correctly. Then I broke it and they snap and pop like no other now. Also because of that, I cannot sit still for more than 5 minutes or I lock up. I was on crutches for 9 months with bent leg, so the tendon that connects hip to knee tightened/shrank a little. I have to force my legs to stand straight...I'm 85 years old on the inside.

That reminds me: The other night I woke up about midnight from a deep sleep, and I'd been laying on my right arm and it was super asleep. I was really uncomfortable and had to shake it and make it wake up! I used to get charlie horses a lot (you know when your foot cramps up spontaneously) when I was in bed. I've heard that's from a lack of potassium, I think.
