Second guessing

First I second guessed my wedding dress. I made the mistake of trying on another dress after I found MY dress, and it confused me sooo much. I was ready to sell the dress I already have and buy the second dress. Glad I didn't! I love my first dress.

Now, I'm second guessing the bridesmaid dresses and our entire color scheme. I know I can't change it of course.. but after continuously looking at wedding pics and seeing SOOO many beautiful dresses and looks, it's making me wish I would have went a different route. Maybe I just need to stay away from wedding magazines and wedding pics, lol!!!

Please tell me I'm not alone..

Re: Second guessing

  • First rule of wedding dress shopping:

Once you find your dress, stop looking.  :)

I do admit of sneaking peeks at a few more dresses after I bought my dress, but they were always few and far in between.  I looked at dresses maybe 3 times since buying my dress almost a year ago.
  • I'm doing the same thing. Not with MY dress, because it's perfect, but with the bridesmaid dresses. I wish we had gone with different shades of pink, or a lighter one, or something.
  • I will say, that I went to a salon and only found 3 dresses that I even remotely liked. First dress, no way. Second dress, I thought it was the one. I had the alterations lady come over and discuss what we would do with it, etc. When I was ready to go I decided to try on the third dress since we were already there. Once I tried that one on, I completely forgot about the other dress. I bought it. I have never had a single regret or second thought about Dress #2.
That being said, I think it's very common to go through doubts, and I think what adds to that is going all over pinterest and blogs and seeing what your wedding *could* be. Don't plan your wedding to be beautiful on a blog, or to get repinned on Pinterest. Plan what YOU love and what feels right for you. You will kick yourself in 10 years if you did everything just because it was trendy and not you.

Omg.. you hit it right on the nail. Pinterest and blogs are exactly where I'm getting all of the "ideas" that I wish I would have done in regards to bridesmaid dresses, colors, flowers, etc etc. You are SO RIGHT.. I'm getting caught up in all this and feeling like everything has to be beautiful and perfect, picture worthy, pin worthy, envy worthy, blah blah I'm nauseating myself just thinking about it.
Thank you so much for putting it into perspective. I need to ground myself a little more..  we decided on our colors, dresses, etc because WE loved it.

    Thank you again. :)

Yeah, once you make a decision, you have to stop looking! We just found a new place, and I kept looking at ads for other rentals, and it was just driving me crazy. Same thing with the dress.

I am having a tough time deciding between two dresses... but I think I've made my decision. I have decided to stop asking other people because EVERYONE has a different opinion. But I know once I get the one, I'll be wondering about the other. But this one just FEELS right!!

See... you're DEFINITELY not alone. We want this day to be JUST right, and sometimes we have to realize that when we've narrowed our choices, we get to the point that either one will be great, but it's soooooo nerve racking!

    Ok... what's Pinterest?
