Tackiest Wedding Theme Ever!

I was brainstorming in the shower (where I do all my best thinking) about what would be the tackiest wedding theme I could think of. I thought it might be fun to see what others come up with too! Sooo, imagine..

Whats your tacky wedding theme idea?

What food are you serving?

What favors are you having?

Whats your first dance song?

What are your centerpieces?

Any other tacky decor/dress./etc.?

Here's mine:

Whats your tacky wedding theme idea?
Convinence/gas station store!
What food are you serving?
Lil smokies for apps, main course is Bugels, hot dogs, and nacho cheese sauce over Doritos, Sno balls for dessert!
What favors are you having?
A selection of travel sized items like Asprin, nail clippers, and Wet naps
Whats your first dance song?
She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy
What are your centerpieces?
Give a penny, take a penny jars
Any other tacky decor/dress./etc.?
I'm thinking instead of candle light, maybe Bic lighters for some romantice ambiance!

  • I think almost any theme besides "Wedding" is tacky. Who needs a theme?

  • W-O-W people. This thread is called "chit chat" for random stuff. Haven't any of you ever read the posts where people have questionnaires?? It was a joke ladies! I was just thinking of something fun to post on here. If anyone thought I was serious they need to calm down. My point, like RetreadBride said, was that its a game! Good lord...

But what if someone was using an aspect of that for their wedding only to have it made fun of on here? Let's say a couple loves Sno Balls as a treat, and they wanted to incorporate them. Or what if they're having a BBQ reception with hot dogs. I get that some things simply are tacky, and this could be in good fun, but it could be mean at the same time.
  • I'll play.. I am very bored at work and don't want to work...

Whats your tacky wedding theme idea?  ANY THEME AT ALL

What food are you serving? FAJITAS

What favors are you having? CHOCOLATE KISSES

Whats your first dance song? YOURS AND MINE

What are your centerpieces? HURRICANE LAMPS

Any other tacky decor/dress./etc.? NOT AT MY WEDDING LOL

  • Oh please, seriously? Hurting someones feelings because they like tacky crap. Then what about the poster who said ALL theme's are tacky. Is she hurting everyone who has a themes feelings? Have you READ the posts that were below mine original one? No one on here cares about hurting people's feelings in the least. I think that much is clear. It was a GAME. a JOKE. for FUN. lighten up.

  • Haha, I LOVE this... partly because the flamboyant side of me wants to do crazy stuff that my FI would NEVER approve of (and that I would regret if I actually did it, because it's NOT what I want) but I'm totally ok with letting my imagination fly and be ridiculous for a minute!!!! Ignore the haters... they're probably taking their planning waaaaay too seriously, you and I can have some fun!

Whats your tacky wedding theme idea?
    Jungle Theme!!!!

    What food are you serving?
Jaguar Steaks (NY Strip), Palm Frond Salad (Hearts of Palm and Leafy Greens) with Insect Juice Dressing (Vinaigrette), Coconut Drinks (out of a coconut!) and a cake with a live monkey for a topper!

    What favors are you having?
Plastic jungle animals (the kind we played with when we were kids)

    Whats your first dance song?
    Jungle Boogie of COURSE!

    What are your centerpieces?
Large palm fronds with the biggest darn flowers I can find!

    Any other tacky decor/dress./etc.?
The wedding party will be dressed in leopard print - think Tarzan and Jane style - and the veil will be made of mosquito netting. Leopard print shoes are a must! Also, the DJ will be dressed up in a gorilla suit. If we could make it an outdoor wedding in a garden, that would be even better!

haha. ok, that was fun =D Thanks for giving me a way to indulge my silly today!

A game with the potential to insult a lot of people.  The word tacky is pretty much entirely subjective.  Someone could execute a beautiful and classy jungle-themed wedding, and then come here, see LoveMuffins' post, and feel horrible about it.  And that would be your fault.

Sorry, but this one was a bad, bad idea.  Perhaps you should think your shower brainstorms through a bit more before acting on them.

There's a HUGE diff between a classy and elegant jungle themed wedding (which I've also planned) and the tacky one I just described (Tarzan groom and plastic animal favors?)... I do acknowledge the point that there is the potential to hurt someone's feelings, but the vast majority of posters on this thread - not to mention other places on the board - don't seem very concerned with that. And if someone is really pressed on having a wedding that everyone in the world approves of, then they aren't going to get very far in planning =P

Yeah, it amazes me how brutal and judgmental some people are - all the while accusing the OP of being a bridezilla or drama queen, but they expect her to follow THEIR advice on how she should handle her issues! (It makes me wonder if they'd be Bridezilla's in their own weddings if they didn't have the board where they could post and lord over other people). Granted, there are also some really <em>great</em> people on here, with thoughtful and helpful insight, but there are just as many people who just immediately start jumping all over other posters in the meanest way possible.

I really do appreciate it when I see posters who disagree, but who do so respectfully and politely.
Thats what gets me! I have posted really serious questions on here and I get attatcked by the judgment police who troll the board waiting to pounce on people. They don't care about peoples feelings. Its not like I posted something in a mean-spirited way or with any malicious intent. I have seen other silly posts and questionnaires on here like "whats the most annoying thing about your FI?" things like that, that are meant to be silly and fun. This was not intended to say " i hate these ideas and anyone who has them is horrible". If someone wants a jungle wedding than go for it! But like you said there is always a tacky way and a nice way. <strong>And I REALLY don't think tacky is that subjective. Some things are just awful and tacky, no two ways about it</strong>. Sorry for offending any brides who love Sno Balls or plastic jungle toys!
    Posted by SheenaNash1
Tackiness is a matter of personal taste.  You may presume that your tastes are universal, but I promise you that they're not.  I personally feel that pickup skirts and tulle anything are "tacky", but I'm not going to make fun of another bride for using them, and then belittle her hurt feelings by saying, "Well, that's what you get for liking tacky crap."

I would have hoped that we all moved past stuff like this in the fourth grade.

  • I completely understood from the get-go that it was meant to be a game.  But as I said in my first post:  I didn't find it to be a funny game.  That's all.  People have a different sense of humor.  That's why some people (like me) love The Office, and others just don't see the hilarity in it that DH and I do.

Play your game.  I don't care.  I was merely pointing out that I didn't think it was amusing.

  • I DARE any bride on theknot to post something like "what do you guys think about my gas station store themed wedding?" and NOT get about a thousand posts from all of you saying how TACKY it is!! Honestly, I've seen tons of posters on here calling out one bride or another on things being tacky. Is anyone going to sit and say things like a cash bar or mini skirts for bridesmaids or a honeymoon registry aren't tacky? No. So you can babble on all you want about tacky being subjective, but at a certain point its not.

And I said it before and I will say it again, look at the posters who said that ALL themes are tacky. Who's jumping all over them about offending every bride who ever had a themed-wedding??

Let's all take deep breaths and realize that if people can't just get imaginative and play along with a silly dumb game and get offended by it then they probably aren't mature enough to be getting married in the first place.

I stand by my OP, it was meant for fun, its not offensive.

Okay. . untwist the panties. . .you've got to realize (and I'm saying this in a non Bitc-cha-saurs way) that you're on the internet and people are allowed to say what they want and voice their opinions.

Obviously, many did not like this idea. Don't get so offended over it. You're telling people not to get offended by the game, yet you're all huffed up because they don't want to play your game.

Try reposting another type of 'game' if you want and I'm sure many will love to join in.

For instance. . 'The Person Below Me' always gets conversations going. . or 'Never Have I Ever -wedding related' . . .there are many others. This particular one just did not work. Im sorry.

But honey, by telling those that could get offended by calling some ideas 'tacky' inmmature and not ready to get married. . you sureeee are doing a lot of finger pointing and protesting yourself.

Seriously, just pick another game and all will be well in puppy kitty land. I promise :o)

  • Naw, I'm all good over here. I just think its funny and bizarre is all. And you are right, it is the Internet and that does mean that people will argue just for the sake of arguing, which is what seems to be happening here. There will always be the girls who like to play Devil's Advocate just for the sake of cause a stir. But, when all is said and done it wasn't offensive so no worries on my end.

  • Well if the original post didn't do the trick, I got a HUGE kick out of this thread. It's funny to me that if people don't like a post they comment that they don't like it. Who cares honestly? If you didn't think it was funny, move on. I thought it was clever personally. I imagine some of the women on TK sitting on their computers, waiting for people to post only to pounce on them. Ugh, please. Good point, by the way, about being concerned about hurting people's feelings, since I'm sure no one on this thread has ever been rude or inconsiderate to any other OP with the intent on doing so. It's quite obvious that was not the OP's intent. Get over yourselves.

I agree with Sheena. I'm sitting at work (bored to death) and stumbled upon this thread. All I can say is wow. lol.

The one thing that I don't understand about the knot is how mean everyone is. Previous Posts said that it's like people wait to pounce on people. I have completely 100% seen that before. It amazes me at how irrational people can be on here.

In my mind, if you didn't like the game, thought it was silly, etc. then just click back and don't post anything. Why was it necessarily to call her out.

It's funny to me that the most dramatic threads get the most attention. Everyone is waiting for someone to complain about the Future Mother In Law just so that they can tell that person how selfish they are for complaining about her. Oye.
