I HATE BEING AT WORK TODAY!! ... coming off of the holidays is the worst. Posted by bsn1752[/QUOTE] This!
I am not looking forward to today at all it is going to be one of our busiest days and weeks of the year.
On the bright side I am so glad to have had Friday off.
I also had to be mean in NYC. We were on a sightseeing bus, and some visitors from foreign lands would not shut up while the tour guide was telling them how to get out to the Statue of Liberty. Also, they were not the only ones wanting to know. I had to pull out my school teacher voice and yell "Hush". I did get a few thank yous for my meanness.
And, I think I am now sick. This is either the third sinus infection since Dec. 1st or it's an upper respiratory. Ugh.
That's my whine: I am back at work. Oh, this SUCKS. Work is about to become a cluster-F bomb and I do NOT look forward to it. And it just started.
January 3rd, 2010 we were on our way to NYC for a week
My coworker is back and is whining that she hosted Christmas dinner and how her son and his wife should contribute more since they make over $200K per year. Well when you tell everyone to come to your house and you must host, well that puts the responsibility on your shoulders, right? And when they ask if they can bring anything and you say no, well whose fault is that? We are going on 30 minutes of complaining about this.
FI has been sick all weekend, and reverts back to his 5 year old self when he feels bad. After asking him if he would be taking his sickly self to the doctor today, he said that he didn't want to go by himself. Really? How old are you?! You have a car and I will be at work. I understand not feeling well, but come on. I might need to swing by happy hour before I return to the sickhouse.
I guess i can B&M that its cold in here. And that I got a little bit of a lack of sleep due to FI hockey game last night, but other than that...I'm in a good mood

OMG I'm dealing with this also!!! DH was sick all weekend and has been such a baby. I fifnally gave him 2 choices yesterday, CareNow or our dr office as a walk in. He choose our doctor's office but then didn't want to go alone so I had to go with him. He has an upper respoirtory(sp?) infection and bronchitis. Now he is complaining he had to go to work today. Well if you had gone to the dr on Tuesday or Wednesday like I told you to you wouldn't have had this still. Also if I get sick I'm still expected to cook, do laundry, etc but he didn't move from the bed except to go to the dr. Boys are such babies when they are sick!!!
My B&M is that I got gasoline on my hands this morning while pumping gas and now i can't get it off my hands. Its giving me a horrible headache!!

Dana, I'm with you 110% on this. I do NOT want this sickness, and he should be praying that it doesn't come after me. Doctor= good. Sick Court= undesirable.
I also hate being back at work, especially since my FI has the day off! He was also sick all weekend. At least he tried not to act too sick! :-p Also, our light bulbs in the kitchen burned out and we can't get the new ones to work right. They are those long flourescent (sp?) bulbs. Does anyone know anything about those?

We have those in our kitchen and I know absolutely nothing. Is there a positive end and a negative end like a battery?
I'm not sure. My FI was the one trying to put them in. They would come on, but they weren't as bright as the ones that were in there previously. It is the exact same bulb, so I don't know what the problem is! We also tried two different ones, with the same results. And then they just kind of blink. Its so frustrating not having enough light in the kitchen!
Lauren, I know! It almost makes it awkward. Generally we don't have that problem. But sometimes we do. And each and everytime I don't know how to handle it.
Sarah-- Have you tried talking to one of the guys in the light department at like home depot or something? They are usually really helpful
Sarah, We have to replace those two. Eventually, we'll get around to it but I hate being in our kitchen without light. Bill wants to cook tonight and I'm wondering how he's going to know if anything is done.

<div>It's SO awkward because Chris doesn't really talk (just a "uh huh" &"yeah" here and there), and doesn't know how to give a hint that's it's time to go. I just feel bad for the waiter because we're taking up their table and they aren't getting any more money while we sit there.</div>
Sarah - Did you leave them in and on for a while? Flourescent lights can be funny and take time to "charge".. you may want to put them in and let them blink and be dim for a while and see if they perk up.
Our kitchen lights act all blinky and dim if we turn the light on and off and on again too quickly... if that makes sense. We have never had to change one though so I am not sure.

Luckily Alex actually talks, and sometimes knows how to drop hints. But we generally have dinner with his sister, her husband, his mom, her BF, AND his Grandma...so there's alot of other people there, and it makes it a tad easier. It's just awkward when everyone stops talking, and we sit there for an extra thirty minutes saying one or two things and drinking out drinks.

My dads parents do this, especially at their house, so my step mom started taking her own car because when she says she's leaving, she wants to leave- not stand at the door for another hour discussing who knows what.
Julie- That's the problem we were having. It was really hard to tell if the meat was done. We had to carry it over to one of the other lights to make sure!
Ashlee- No I haven't tried that, but its probably a good idea. I know nothing about lighting, so that would be helpful! :-p
And Tiffany- How long does it take you think? We left it on for a couple of minutes and nothing was happening. Maybe we need to leave it on for a lot longer than that?
Q. What makes the tubes in my fluorescent light flicker? A. Wiggle the tubes to make sure they are properly seated. Replace any tubes that are dark or have damaged pins. Replace the starter if there is one.
Q. How do I troubleshoot a fluorescent fixture that doesn't light? A. It's probably not the bulb, because these rarely go bad all at once. Check for adequate ground. Wiggle the tube make sure it is seated. Replace any damage lamp holders. Replace the starter. Check the switch and outlet box to make sure it is getting power.
Q. How do I check the starter in the fluorescent fixture? A. Older, delayed-start "preheat" fluorescent lights flicker when they first light up. If this lasts more than a couple of seconds, make sure the starter is seated by pushing it in and turning clockwise. If the ends of the tube light up and the middle does not, the starter is bad. Remove it by turning counterclockwise.
Cheap garbage ballasts (sometimes called "residential grade" ballasts) are more likely to do, instead of the above, the following:
1) Result in less light than is typicaly available from the bulbs - sometimes as little as half as much as they are rated to typically produce.
2) Wear the bulbs out faster than "normal".
3) In the case of electronic 2-bulb ballasts, sometimes one bulb intermittently starts dim (and sometimes recovers to full brightness) if the ballast design is poor.
2-I'm so upset! We didn't get Colleen for our cakes! We waited too late to put a deposit down and someone got her!!! I guess this is what I get for waiting after the holidays to do things.
I have yet to take my holiday days from Christmas and New Years, so I just hate being at work but I have no "swing of things" to get used to again...
I went to bed at 8:30 cause I was super sleepy from doing nothing but cleaning all weekend. I tossed and turned in our bed til 12:30am before moving to the twin-sized guest bed that I've spent the past month sleeping in. Waking up was so hard this morning.

I'm not so good with the advice... Can I interest you in a sarcastic comment?
I guess another B&M has risen for me....Vegas looks more and more realistic for the wedding. And honestly, after the dramatic two weekend holidays I've had....I think me and FI are just about ready to go to the JOP.
The heater has been running on full blast in my classroom for probably 30 minutes. It's so miserable!!!! Last year, when it was colder, it got up to 93 in my room before they finally turned off the heater.
