Anyone stay at any of these Maui resorts?

We're looking at either the Hyatt Regency, Sheraton, or the Ritz-Carlton. Let me know if you've had any experience with any of them!

We stayed at the Ritz.  It was heaven.  The Ritz is the most luxurious of the 3.  I have a review and pics in my bio.  We chose it because it is in Kapalua which is very secluded and quiet and it is the only resort in the area and has its own beach--not like the Hyatt and Sheraton which are on a resort "strip" along with the Westin.  That being said, the beach is small (as well as a 5-minute walk) so if that is a big draw for you, you might prefer the Sheraton or Hyatt.  You will also need a car because there is nothing to do in Kapalua except stay at the Ritz (although honestly, I think you need one no matter where you stay).  We had our luau at the Sheraton which was swarming with families and kids and we didn't think much of the looks of the place, but alot of people love it.  Also the town where they are located is really fun with lots to do.  However, we were still able to enjoy that part of town and still also have the quiet seclusion of Kapalua.  So it's definitely a matter of preference.
  • We stayed at the Sheraton, and we liked it- GREAT location. Our TA got us a free upgrade to an oceanfront room and it was totally worth it with the balcony and view, this was an iphone pic from our room. Sunset was amazing too.

  • I love the north-west area (Kapalua) - it's more wild and rugged, and definitely less overrun by tourists. It's also closer to Honolua Bay which has great snorkeling, and the Olivine Pools, which are a fun time if the surf is down.
  • I just got back from the Ritz in Kapalua last week! It was absolutely amazing- absolute luxury! We spent 10 days there, and we didn't want to come home :) I will be posting my honeymoon reviews in the next couple of days, which i will go into detail regarding our experience there, as well as all of the other things we did in Maui. so look out for that!

  • We stayed at the Hyatt in August - we were upgraded to the regency floor with an ocean front room.  The room was a little outdated, but the view was amazing.  The place was just extremely crowded for our taste.  You were basically sitting on top of your neighbor at the pool and there were lots of kids, which isn't exactly what we were looking for on our honeymoon.
