Wedding Dress Shopping!!

Today starts my weekend of wedding dress shopping with my Mom!!  I'm getting really excited.  Tonight we are going to The Hope Chest Bridal Store in Ham Lake.  Tomorrow morning we are scheduled to go to Dena Marie's Bridal in Roseville and Sunday at noon we go to David's Bridal in Maple Grove!  I was hoping to check out the Wedding Shoppe in St. Paul since I've heard so many people find great dresses there, but they are booked out for weekend appointments until the end of February!  So, I'm thinking with 3 different bridal shops I will be able to find something I love.  But if not, I will try to visit the Bridal Shoppe during the week when they are less busy.  Do you think my Mom and I will get burnt out bridal gown shopping this weekend with 3 different appointments in 3 days?  I hope not.  This could be interesting!!  lol  I'm very excited and determined to have a great time so I think it will be totally fine.  My Mom has been super supportive during all of the wedding planning so far.  I think this will be a fun weekend for us.  Wish me luck!!

Hi! I just commented on one of your posts on our Oct board! Glad to see you here too!

It really depends on you and your mom weather or not you will get overwhelmed. I did 3 appointments in 1 day when I was looking and was totally fine with that - but I know that would have been too much for some of my friends. For me it allowed me to compare all the dresses easier because they were fresh in my mind. My case is a bit different than most brides though because I tried on over 100 dresses and went to about 9 shops....most girls don't do that :).

I ended up buying my dress at the Wedding Shoppe but I found it at Bellas Bridal Boutique. Once i found my dress I called around to see which shop would give me the best price and the Wedding Shoppe had it.

If you are on a roll and want to fit in another.  Brides of France doesn't require appointments, you can just stop in.  Sometimes theres a line to try on, sometimes not.  It's a great shop, they're super nice, and some great dresses too.  check them out if you have time!  There's two locations, one in uptown and one in Edina.  Good luck!

I had a bad experience at Dena Marie's Bridal shop. I had an appointment and They were not friendly and did not help me at all picking out dresses or helping me try them on. I ended up leaving 10 mintues in. I have also heard others having the same issue. I got my dress at Our Shop in Stillwater. They were very nice and extremely helpful!

Oh no!  I hate when businesses don't take make clients feel welcome.  Its so frustrating.  I'm sorry to hear you had a bad experience there!

We actually had a good experience at both the Hope Chest and Dena Marie's.  Both places were very helpful and friendly.

And...guess what... I found my dress at Dena Marie's today!!  When we first walked in, they had a sale rack outside the door.  We glanced through it and found one we (my  Mom and I) liked so we brought it in to try on.  Our sales lady helped us pick out a large variety of other dresses as well in the "not on sale" section.  lol  The sale dress was the first one we tried on and my Mom teared up right away!  It was awesome.  We tried on all of the others they brought out for us, and narrowed it down to 3 but we ended up going back to that very first one and that was it.  We bought it.  It fits me so well!  I will need to have the length shortened and also have the straps shortened, but everything else fits perfectly!  Now I just need to make sure I don't gain any weight.  lol.  But here's the best part - we only paid $199!!  I'm so excited.  We got such a great deal and it is a great dress!  I can't believe our luck.

The sweetest part of the day was when my Mom and I were in the dressing room trying on all these expensive dresses, my Mom tells me she plans to buy my dress for me.  What a great gift!!  (and then I go and choose a $199 one - lol)  Oh well.  I got my Mom a great deal too I guess.  lol
