Are you sure they're even going to be able to make it?  That's cutting it awfully close. Regardless of pumping, I would not have brought my newborn to a wedding to be around lots of people and germs, no matter how close I am to the bride.
Posted by sucrets4
Well, pretty sure. My sister will be there for sure and she's the one due closest to the wedding day. My other BM will be due about 3 weeks before the wedding, so i think she will be ok. FSIL will have about a 1 month old and my other friend will have an almost 2 month old. Either way i'm sure they will all make it to the ceremony. Worst case... they may only be at the reception a short time.
• I would still be prepared for the possibility of them not making it.  ESPECIALLY your sister.  Especially so close to your date, and having a section.

Expect to weigh 13 pounds greater than your pre-pregnancy weight after birth.
Expect to have heavy vaginal discharge (sorry guys) for several weeks after birth. This may require changing a heavy pad once every few hours. (Tampons are not recommended for 6-8 weeks after birth)
It is recommended not to take your newborn out in public until 2 months or more time has passed.

Someone refresh my memory...who's the Donna Von...??  The woman that's famous for designing the slimming wrap dresses?

ETA: NM, I found her, and her dresses are $600.  I remembered them being expensive, but not ridiculous.
In Response to Re: 40% of my bridal party is preggo!! : OK, OK... all joking aside.  I think you should just let them choose off the rack dresses in a specific color.   They have enough on their plate already than to stress over how big/small they will be after they give birth. (BTW I took a little offense when you put it into those terms hence the time machine suggestion).  Also you want your BP to be comfortable, and for your pregnant BM's this may mean a dress from a maternity store.  And ditto to all who are suggesting that they might not be able to attend your wedding after just recently having a child.
Posted by kodakitty
I'm confused as to what i said that offended you.
Was it about them needing to shop for a smaller size dress for after they deliver? but i didn't know how much smaller?

Thanks! This is helpful!
• I know they won't be pregnant for your wedding but nearly all of my friends/family that had babies felt more comfortable in some of their maternity clothes for a month or so after delivering. Your BMs may still feel more comfortable in a maternity dress. Have you looked for lines that offer maternity options?

Have you talked to these girls about if they think they would still be in your wedding? They may not want to be but I know my SIL and all of my closest/dearest friends would still choose to be in it...if they could. But maybe before trying to figure out do-able solutions, you can ask their plans.

• I'm not sure if this is typical for all C-sections, but when my sister had hers she was in a quite a bit of pain for about 2 weeks, and needed help going up and down stairs, etc. because of the staples. I'm sure not everybody takes that long, but be prepared for the slight possibility of your sister not being able to make it, just in case she's in pain or uncomfortable. You don't want to go on thinking "She's 100% coming!" and risk being super disappointed if she doesn't :-)

You have a point, i'm totally fine if they would prefer maternity BM dresses. I'm mostly concerned with the colors over the styles and i want them to feel beautiful and as comfortable as possible in what ever they wear. If they decide to get maternity dresses, then i will probably go with all the girls choosing their own dresses. That will probably be easiest.

and ya, i actually didn't get around to asking them until after they already knew they were pregnant saying i know you already have a lot on your plate, but....
and they both said of course!! :)
• If they are due late June they are still very early on though and have no clue what their bodies and emotions will be doing. I'm not saying cut them or anything, just try not to put too much pressure on them to be there if they are feeling like crap 2 months before and mentally prepare yourself for the possibility of them not being at the ceremony or reception at all.

I bet reality will be different than what they think will happen with a newborn, though.  Do any of them already have kids?  Because you just don't know what it's like until you've had one.

I actually don't know what's "typical" either, but this is her second child and she had a c-section with my neice also and was up and about in a few days to a week. Not to say that that will be the case with this baby, but i'm hoping for the best.

I was going to say this.  Pretty much word for word.  I mean hell, I've committed to doing things a week ahead of time and then the day gets there and I don't feel like it.  And I'm not even pregnant or have a newborn.  Or any kids.

Well yeah, you have to get up and around.  You don't have a choice.  That doesn't mean it wasn't uncomfortable.

Well if it's any indication, my 30th birthday party was about 5 weeks after she had my niece via c-section and i wouldn't have been able to keep her from being there partying it up with me! :) but like i said, i'm hoping for the best.
In Response to Re: 40% of my bridal party is preggo!! : " but they won't be pregnant for the wedding. So they'll be smaller, but who knows how much smaller"-   This was the comment that I felt was a little flippant.   I think that your BM's have much bigger things to worry about than what dress size to fit into for your wedding.  I thought the comment made it sound like size was all you were concerned about.  As the thread progressed, I understand that this is not the case.   I really do think the best solution is let them decide what type of dress they will feel comfortable and best in after having a child.  And they might not know this until after they give birth.
Posted by kodakitty
Well dress size is important when you're buying a dress. I could give a sh!t how big or small they are, but it would be nice if they could get dresses that fit them. and maybe i should clarify...we will be shopping for dresses while they are pregnant. They obviously won't be able to try on the dresses for size, because on the wedding day they will be smaller than they are while pregnant, but how much smaller? who knows? i don't care, it would just be nice if they were able to choose a dress size.
• Look around for dresses while they're pregnant. But let them buy them off-the-rack AFTER they give birth. There is no way of knowing how their bodies will change (or even if they will change significantly at all by your wedding) after birth. That way if they are incapacitated by the wedding they won't have bought a dress needlessly. But if they do want to be in your wedding but don't have time to go get the dress you can go pick up the one they picked out before.
• Well, you seem to have all the answers.

Since they already have kids, then they should know what to expect more than internet strangers do.
