Reils- We looked at all houses. Ranged from 1924-brand new. Everything we looked at had huge problems. Like problems so big I don't think a bank would have approved the financing.

  • There was a crazy lindsey girl for a couple of weeks.  I'm sure all the lindsey names all blur into one.  Makes me wish I had actually thought through a SN.

  • Hey y'all!

Nates are you making food for your students? I've always wanted to do that but at our school you have to give store bought.

I made Revolutionary War Cranium to help the kids study for their test and we played it today. Best. Day. Ever. The kids were sooo into it and I had such a fun time! I felt really good about how it all went.

  • That sounds fun, Sere!

  • I remember some girl had an intro post a long time ago... I don't remember her exact SN, but it was something like jumpinginthepool.  In the shortened version of her name on the main board and on the side bar in threads, since her name was so long, it showed up as "jumpinginthepoo" and it made me laugh so hard that I almost died.  It made me want to have a new screen name to emulate how that one made me feel.

It was a blast and it was cool because one of the principals dropped in and watched us play for a little while. I loved when the kids did charades. Hopefully the kids do well on their tests tomorrow!

  • Thanks, Veggie! It now lives in my husband's trunk, lol.  we need to get that taken care of.

Sere, I am! I promised snacks since they've been so good with turning in assignments and all. Technically, we shouldn't bring anything in, but they don't care.  I'll give it to them as they're walking out the door.  I'm making brownies--regular and butterscotch topped, chocolate chip cookies and the peanut butter ones with the chocolate drop in the middle (mainly for the adults).
  • Mand, for $30 I think I would give it a try to see if it made a difference. I am weird about my hair though.
  • It would be nice if he could use that as your observation.  Whenever I try something fun, I like to invite them in so I can *hopefully* get observed on my own terms.

Yay! It's great when it all comes together! I just spent $180 on stuff for my classroom, but I can't wait to use it.  I bought those dry erase cubes to use for different games and prompts, mini dry erase boards for Q&A in class, a literary terms bingo game, some stuff for the research paper, a manga version of The Scarlet letter, a rap battles vocab book--it keeps going. I want it now.

LOVE. That is a brilliant idea. The 'fun factor' really helps I'm finding. They are having so much fun and learning and don't begrudge it.

[QUOTE]I have never personally tried it but I have heard good things about the Wen hair system. Maybe that's something all you wavy haired girls could look into?

  • Reils, it doesn't scare me so much to think of spending the $30 initially to see if it works, but then what if I fall deeply in love with it and want to keep on buying it forever?  Then I'm spending $360 a year on washing my hair.  And I bet I would fall in love with it.  I wonder if there's a cheaper option.

  • I should not post as I'm getting on the phone, talk about a p&r. Nates and Sere, you both are such fun/great teachers.

  • Hi!

Wen didn't work for me. It was nice for a day and then it made my hair unbelievably greasy. But my hair is naturally SUPER oily, so I think it works much better on drier, curlier/wavy hair. AATB swears by it.

  • Gahhhh hair. It's such a pita.

I have a gift certificate for my salon that my mom got me for Christmas, and I keep putting off going because I don't know what the eff to do with my stupid hair. And then I'll have to keep going back for trims and whatnot. It also doesn't help that I haven't been to my stylist since before the wedding (I think December 2010 was the last time I was there?) because I was growing it out, and now I'm afraid she will have forgotten who the hell I am :/

  • I Nate and Con miss your faces around here. I'm waiting for GG to start I'm finally caught up.
  • My hair is so flat and oily. Its straight until you get to the ends and then it gets so funky wavy gross. It would help if I cut off the 4 inches of split ends though I suppose. I saw some DIY dry shampoo on pinterest that I really want to try.

  • Thanks, kayak :)

Organix has a Keratin product line and they're cheap.  A few people have said they work awesome.
  • Aw, Dodgers, I miss you too! I miss the boards in general lately. It's good to be back :)

  • I use organix right now, the moroccan oil line. It works alright. If I could just get a professional shampoo every day, I'd be happy. ;)

I want to dye my hair black.  But I've never had it permanently colored. It scares me.

Also, I am seriously intrigued and considering doing the oil method that J&K and others have been doing to wash their faces.  And now my interest is piqued in this baking soda & vinegar technique of washing your hair.  I need to find a time that it will be okay that my hair is oily because apparently it takes a bit to "kick in."

Hey lady, I miss you too.  I need to show you some stuff I bought.

Guys. I am so excited for St. Pat's because it's a Saturday.  I'm wearing my "Irish I were drunk" shirt.

[QUOTE]I keep hearing about the no-shampoo technique, and it sounds like it works but I am SO APPREHENSIVE about it.  Man.  I feel like my hair would be so nasty.

<div>I tried this, but I have thin fine hair. I didn't completely stop using shampoo, but I only use it once a week now. I just started using it less and less often. Everyone commented and told me it looks a lot less frizzy now. I also looks more shiney.</div><div>And, it is a lot cheaper.</div><div>
</div><div>So, if you are gonna do it, I would recommend easing into it.

This is a p&r, but I will be back in about an hour. FI and I are going to get froyo.</div>

Right? i'm hoooked already. Plus, at $7 a pop it's not bad at all.  I want to try the Vanilla Silk one next. Or maybe the Keratin, although I'm still a little nervous to do that one.

Con, I got it at Harmon. Plus you can use your BBB coupons.
  • I miss our clothes emails. I havent done much shopping. Just random tees and jeans. Nothing special.
  • I want to try the oil cleansing method too. I meant to pick up some castor oil today when I was in town but I forgot. I have worse skin at 29 than I ever did as a teenager.
