Another Target Registry Post...

In some ways I wish I would have listened and not registered at Target, but at the same time I love their stuff, I hate BB&B, and I felt Macy's was too expensive. So while we have 2 other small registries at myregistry.com & Williams-Sonoma, most of the stuff is at Target.

I went in today to buy a baby gift off a registry for someone else and printed out one of my own so I could see if I registered for the right color of this blanket I added online a few days ago. I then realized that about 20 items (mostly a line of kitchen utensils) had been discontinued. Of course it didn't show up as discontinued online.

So I ended up having re-registering for a bunch of stuff, and when I checked it online this evening it is a mess. Most of the old discontinued stuff that I deleted in the store is still there (and mixed in with the new stuff, so I have no idea what is what) and there is some other random crap  on there too. If I ever deleted anything off the gun in the store, it made it on the registry. I've had to delete some items 3-4 times before it would finally go away. I've had to really keep on top of the dang thing in the past for weeks or it just goes haywire.

So now I'm worried with their crappy registry updating and craptastic return policy we are going to end up with a lot of non-returnable duplicate gifts. I'd be fine with store credit, but they wont even give that. I feel like it is rude to ask guests for the gift receipt, though I may add a note about the confusing kitchen utensil situation online--otherwise people will literally end up in the correct aisle looking for a line that no longer exists.

Anyone else have problems with any of this? Should I add a note about the duplicate items?

Re: Another Target Registry Post...

  • I've been having a few problems with my Target registry also. First of all, when I got home from registering at the store, I looked online and there was a bunch of stuff that I remember zapping that wasn't on there! Then, I looked at my registry online today and there was some stuff "fulfilled" that I didn't even register for. There are 8 towels fulfilled when I only registered for 4 and they are a different color! I don't really care since they are only towels, but now I'm wondering if I'm going to receive duplicates of other things. My other registry is Macys and I haven't had any problems.
  • We had a Target registry and had zero problems with it so I can't comment on that aspect but I urge you to take a second look at BBB.  Many of their things are not more expensive and with the amount of coupons that go around for that place I get a lot of things cheaper at BBB than I do at Target.

On top of that they are very registry friendly.
  • I'm registered at Target and BB&B too.  I don't hate BB&B, but they are much more expensive for a lot of kitchen items.  I compared similar items when I made the registries and Target was cheaper almost every time.
I haven't actually had any problems with Target's registry yet, but we started getting a few gifts in the mail the past few weeks and the packaging sucks.  My friend  told me there is no option online to add gift wrap or a card.  The only way you can tell who it's from is the name and address billed to on the packing list.
BB&B has nice gift boxes and a card inclosed.
I don't know why the gift wrap would matter unless you are opening everything at a shower, but not being able to put in a card is so stupid.
  • Macy's can be expensive, but I feel that there's a sale or coupon every other week. I think in the end, the stuff at Macys is price comparable, and you also have the option of some higher-end stuff.   I've had excellent experiences with the Macy's registry, both purchasing for others and monitoring ours.

And yes.  By "monitoring" I mean "stalking".  Please don't judge. ;)
