Morning

Re: Morning

  • Good morning everyone. I just woke up and don't have to be at work until 2 or 3. I'm starting a new job as stylist in a salon again. I'm excited to be doing hair again but scared I won't make much money for a while until I build a clientele. I am going to work somewhere that us supposed to get busy and needs another stylist. We saved our top teir of the cake, I ate half of it the day after the wedding and froze the other half. I'm excited to eat it because or cake was amazing.

  • Happy Anniversary toooo yoooouuu, happy anniversary toooooo yoooouuu, happy anniversary dear Adamar and JCBeeeeee, happy anniversary tooooo yoooouuuu.

We have a contract with our baker to bake us a small cake for our 1 year.  Small problem, we'll be in Key Largo.  So, do we order the cake and carry it on with us on the plane?  Or, just wait until we get home...

Today is the Colorado Rockies opening day.  It'll be a fun game.  I'm taking a half day off of work to go to the game.  Turns out some people from the company I used to work for are going to be downtown for the game and tailgating before so we'll go stop by and say "hi".

Happy Monday.  My brother posted a cartoon yesterday and I'd like to share it with all my zombie friends:

  • Mornin'.

Nebb - I hope this bloodwork goes well for you, and that you treated yourself to a little something afterwards. I hate fasting blood tests. Blah.

My cat is still sick, but is finally on the mend. I think. The vet is pissed off that I refuse to feed Eli the vet diet (which, if you look at the ingredients, is utter garbage) and is trying to push more medication on him. I'm at a bit of a loss since I'm trying to stick to my guns and feeding him a high-quality food and this vet is slamming everything I've been trying to do. It's been a long, long week of a sick kitty.

But, this is the start of another week! I'm determined to make it a good one. If I can stay awake. ;) I had one of those nights last night where you wake up every hour, on the hour, and look at the clock. I'm feeling a little loopy today from it, but hoping it passes soon. Staring at my screen with my mouth hanging open isn't a great look, y'know?

  • Bk - that's funny. I love Cyanide & Happiness. I have this one posted up on my desk at work:

  • OMG, we totally ate anniversary cake on our first anniversary.  And it tasted fucking insane.  And by insane, I mean awesome.

Easter was meh.  I mean, Easter church was great (it's my fave church service of the year!) but my mom was busting my balls all weekend and pissing me off.  Yesterday when we were all having dinner at grandmas, my friend who was PA in my wedding somehow got brought up and every time she does my mom just bashes her, because apparently they didn't get along well on my wedding day so obviously that means that my friend is the worst person ever of all time.  I took the opportunity to basically tell my mother, in front of the whole family (SCORE) that it's really rude and mean to talk shiit about my friend all the time, that I don't care if she doesn't like my friend, she's my friend, and I would never talk like that about any of my mother's friends.  And then she ignored me the rest of the day.  It was epic.

I went home on Thursday night with my sister because Ben had to work til Saturday and he was going to come after work on Sat afternoon - but he got the flu.  So I had Easter without Ben or Lucy :(

  • Good morning.  I hated our cake, so we didn't save any of it or get a new one on our anniversary.  I'd like to have as little to do with that baker as possible. My friend was going to make us a cake for our anniversary but then she got a job and moved out of state for a while.  Cake would be hard to ship from Maine to NC.

I agree with JCB on a second opinion. I recently changed my cats food, because he was constantly hungry and he would puke it back up after he scarfed it down. What I have him on now has much better ingredients, that he stays full longer and doesnt whine for food as much.
He still has fuballs that cause spit up, but not food. Stick to your guns about the food. Does he give you a reason why his food is supposed to be SO much better?

    Good morning everyone!

Happy anniversary JCB and Adamar and Sesh and Girlie and Cakemonsta and anyone else who has an anniversary soon! Our first anniversary is tomorrow, too. No cake for us, though, although it was good at the wedding. We'll get some anniversary cheesecake at Buca di Beppo instead.

Nebb, I really want to come and kick your doctors' ass. Like every day. Multiple times a day. I don't think anyone here would mind.

I'm off to work in a few minutes and then have the next two days off. Yay! My only plan is to go through a lot of my books so I can figure out which ones to sell back to work. It's kind of ridiculous how many books I have around here that I haven't touched since I brought them home.
Morning! GL w/ blood work Nebb, hopefully they can get your shiit figured out. This is my last week of work, and that's just nutso.  Lots to do!  I've been having weird ass dreams this week too, like, we went to Home Depot to exchange our lawn mower because it wasnt' working, and somehow also got an ultrasound that showed little Chewy was already 10 lbs.  Last night Derek hooked up the plumbing to the new kitchen!  So, we can now run the water, we just don't have anywhere for it to drain to.  Well, except the bucket under the sink.  Not a permanent solution.

Don't panic about a huge baby. They kept saying K was going to be 10+ pounds, I would need a C-section, ZOMG HUGE BABY!!, etc. The ultrasounds can't tell how long he is.  and long babies appear to be heaier than they are. K was 8 pounds 12 oz and very long 22 1/4 inches. His length made him look heavier than he actually was. He was a skinny minnie. Hope Chewie is the same! Do you have height running in your family?

  • Happy Anniversary girls!  And thanks for reminding me that I need to call our bakery and order a top layer for our anniversary (like BK, it was part of the contract for the wedding cake).

I had freaky dreams last night too and while I'm not certain they were zombies, they looked just like the things from I Am Legend and they were all around the outside of the house just staring in the windows.  Creepy.

September - what food is the vet trying to push?

  • Happy anniversary ladies!

My parents saved some of our cheesecake in the freezer, I think.  We didn't.  We might end up moving on our anni weekend now, so yay for celebration.  I'm in a piss poor mood today.  It's Monday.  Hmpf.

KD - I don't even watch any of those zombie shows so I have no idea where my dream came from.  I'm going to go ahead and blame SB though.

I'm not overly concerned about him being big.  All signs so far point to totally "normal", fundal height has been bang on each week and he was measuring right at 50%-ile for lenght/weight at the A/S.  Height wise, I'm on the taller side (5'7") and H is about average (6'), but my brother is tall.  I know I was 21 or 22" when I was born.

Mostly it was just a weird dream!  I mean, u/s at HD??  :P
I feel ya on the vet issue, Sept.  Our puppy was recently sick and our vet just wanted to extend his meds for another week and just.wait.  We went to a different vet who gave him a different medication and his cough cleared right up.  Can you get a second opinon from a different vet?
    Posted by jcbsjr
Sorry, jcb - I just saw this now. This is actually the third vet that he's seen. We belong to "The Cat Clinic" here in town, which has a feline specialist on staff and several other cat-only vets. It's kind of like a family practice for humans, and has been such a help in the past. In this case, they kind of all seem to be drinking the Kool-Aid when it comes to the vet-diets, and don't seem to understand my concerns about the actual nutritional value of the stuff. I mean, one glance at the labels and I'm disgusted by what's in there, so why would I feed it to my sick cat? The only vet I've been unable to see is the specialist, since she was out of town on a conference. I'm hoping to touch base with her this week to see what she thinks about this new medication/food combo. I'm sick of spending money on things to pump into him when none of them seem to be treating the actual problem.
