[QUOTE]I actually met mine online but not on a dating site. We met on Pogo Games in a game called Word Whomp, where you unscramble letters to make words.

We were both servers at a restaurant, and he was supposed to tip me out for the night but didn't have any cash at the moment.   I told him to just buy my a margarita next door after work, so he thought it was a date.  I actually was just inviting everyone but when he got there we really hit it off.
    Fun topic!

  • We meet on Match.Com.  Sent emails back and forth for a week or so. Our first date was to watch the NASCAR Sprint Cup All-star race at Buffalo Wild Wings. We had a blast, and went out again within a week. After the first date, he wasn't sure whether to kids me or not, so he just hugged me. He admitted two days later to wishing he had kissed me. To which I told him I had been hoping he would kiss me. One of the first things he did on our second date (cooking burgers and fries together at my place) was to finally kiss me like we'd both been hoping. We've been together ever since. :-D

  • We met at church. We both worked there as a/v people. I actually worked there long before he did. Took him about two years to even notice me and texted me one night on accident. The text was supposed to go to someone else. He didn't stop texting me after that. On a side note, when we went to register for our wedding, the consultant asked when we met. He gave the exact date of his second interview at the church, the day he was introduced to me. Maybe he did notice...
  • I'm gonna chime in too. We meet when we were just a couple months old. My mom's family and FFIL's family went to school together and FFIL was a guest at my parents wedding. He and my dad became best friends still are to this day! When we were really little we would go camping at my parent's cabin and we shared a bed. We lost touch during college, than my parents moved from WI to AL and my dad said he "lost" FFIL's number. I went on FB and found FH, emailed him and we chatted online for a few months. We exchanged numbers and started talking daily. He was in KS for work and when he came home over 4th of July, we ended up hooking up and did the the FWB thing for awhile. After 1 1/2 of it, I told him we date or I walk away, he said "well fluck it! We're dating now"it was the day after The Packer's won against The Falcons as they went on to their Superbowl win which is how I remember when we started dating! After another 1 1/2 yrs we moved in together and are engaged. We joke that our parents arranged this at birth.

  • FI and I were set up by a mutual friend.  I worked with a girl who met my FI at a family-friends christmas party and literally when she saw me after the break she said "I met your boyfriend, no I met your husband!" Neither of us wanted to go on a blind date and it took a few weeks to even convince me to go out with him but I finally said what the hell, I'll meet him.  So we did a double date kind of thing and we met and it was just easy from that day on.

  • I went to uni with his sister.
He was coming to visit her but as she wasn't in she got me to pick him up from the station and keep him company for a few hours.
     That was it.
  • Well, kids, let me tell you how folks met up before online dating.......

I put an ad in a magazine called Single File "SWF ISO SWM, blah, blah, blah.  I remember when he got out of his car I looked at him and his ever so gorgeous brown eyes and thought "he is waaaay too cute, this will never work."  Here we are 21 years later.  I like to think we were the trend setters and paved the way for dating sites and all the successful relationships I see here!

We were both divorced, HATED the bar scene and wanted to meet someone.  We celebrate our dating anniversary, which is September 12th, and then of course our wedding anniversary in October.  For all you girls worried about getting married on your dating anniversary, skip that and get two special occasions out of the deal!
  • FI and I met the first week of college.  He knew a girl in my orientation group and she invited him to join us for dinner.  When he showed up by himself (without the cute guy who lived down the hall he was supposed to bring with him), she ignored him for the rest of the night.  I felt bad for him and talked to him throughout dinner.  After dinner he invited everyone back to his dorm room to hang out.  His roommate had a party in there right before we showed up, bailed, and we got stuck with the write up for alcohol even though we hadn't been drinking.  To make it up to me, FI asked me if I was free the next night to make some "fun" memories.  We went bowling as a group and he asked for my number on the ride home.  We've pretty much been inseparable every since!

That's so cool! I have a friend in her 60's that met her husband that way too. I tell her it's the earliest form of online dating. Lol.

  • I met my FI on POF. It was a "Hail Mary" after having a terrible experience with the guy I dated previously (and also met on POF), and I'm glad I took the chance!
    Praying for a miracle!
  • My FI met in junior high. He was dating some other girl so even though I thought he was incrediable cute I didnt say or do anything, we were just friends. He moved to another city so we lost contact. During high school he randomly found me on ... whatever social media was popular, not sure if it was myspace of facebook. We met up one day when he was in town and since then I haven't been able to get him to leave me alone. heh, Not that I want him to.

</div><div>And I believe you are right!!  A couple of nights ago we went to the restaurant here in town where we had our first date.  We KNEW it had gone down hill, but we were hungry and hadn't been there in 2-3 years.  We had a lovely waitress, but the place just isn't the same anymore.  We used to have dinner there every September 12th, but we don't go there anymore.  Bummer.</div><div>
</div><div>Yes...we were the trendsetters.  I think his family still thinks we met on a blind date (not false) but I have told all of my girlfriends how we met.

    Love this

I met mine online.  On sort of a dating site I guess.  Not something well known though.  The first time we talked on the phone the topic of Religion came up.  I was certain he had never heard of my faith.  I am Brethren.  Well anyways he is Brethren as well  I was in shoc..  His family came to this country in at the same time and same location as mine (Lancaster Pennsylvania).  But our families have no ties because our families settled about 10 miles apart and back in those days 10 miles was like half way across the country.   But our families are so much a like.  when I met his mom it was like sitting with one of my Aunts.  Our familes coming together is 3 centuries in the making.
