Monday, sigh

Re: Monday, sigh

  • I always find it a bit uncomfortable when i get wished a happy Mother's Day. It happened at Sephora yesterday and I said thanks but it just seems presumptuous.

It was a lot weirder when I was a teenager and people said it though.

    Good morning!

Now I'm glad I worked yesterday. All these stories are making me glad I was there and not at the restaurant next door. They were PACKED!

Not much this week but work. I do get to help interview about 25 people in two days, though. Not so much fun. And I'll probably have to call the people who don't get the job. Sometimes it sucks being Assistant Manager.

People were handing out flowers to "all the moms" at the market and handed me one. I felt bad saying no but I really didn't want to carry a freaking flower around with me.

I would get my fellow non-mothers a gift for Non-Mother's Day. We could even set up wishlists through Elfster, so that our friends would know what we'd want.

Spouses, significant others, important people in your life. I think there should be a nonfathers day too.
  • My furbaby got me a "Mother's Day" card.  I think H picked it out just because it was a fart joke card.  She also got me two golf lessons.  I think H helped her with that too.

DJ-  Feel better.  I'm still fighting the creeping crud, I spent all day Saturday in bed.  H was at work all day, so it kind of sucked all around.

KD- I would've kicked the phone down the aisle away from the woman.  But I'm bitchy like that.

Mehg- You're nicer than me, I would've flipped my lid.

Pirate- Reminds me about fairly soon after I got Peanut.  She had the run of the house and decided to "lose her shiit" in the living room on my parent's white carpet.  It looked like she was running around in circles.  It was NASTY!

Lol fart joke cards always make me laugh.
  • I think the idea of nonmothers/fathers day is interesting but at what point is someone considered that?  I hope you're not taking me to be arguementative, it just brings up a lot of questions in my analytical brain.

For instance-  any child isn't a mother/father.  So is it when someone is an adult, or when they get married?

So yesterday Lucy and I were at the dog park.  It was a quiet evening, the only people there was this one couple with two dogs, and a couple with a toddler and who I assume was a grandma with three dogs.  And those three dogs were horrible.  They were barking and nipping at the other dogs and making a scene and it was just obnoxious.

Anyway, the toddler was on a leash.  Which... yeah.  I wanted to make an asshole joke to the parents about how they can let the kid off the leash at the park (hardy har har) but I obeyed my better judgment.  When their dogs started acting up again, ALL THREE of them - the mom, dad and grandma got up and left, yelling at the stupid dogs and left the toddler just standing there next to the picnic table where I was sitting.  Um, hello?  Are you really assuming I'm going to watch this wabbly kid for you?  And then the little guy started kneeling down and was getting ready to put his hands all over the bottom of the picnic table and I'm sitting there hoping the parents would notice, but no.  I had to actively grab the kid and stop him from touching it.  I mean... dogs piss all over those picnic tables and this kid is just gonna be all up in it.  So glad I got stuck with babysitting duty, holyfuck, maybe you shouldn't have three asshole dogs that can't interact nicely at the fucking dog park if you can't even be bothered to watch your fucking leashed kid.

Okay that was WAY longer than I intended.  Whatever.

This morning I had steel cut oats for breakfast - I made them overnight in the crockpot.  AH-MAZE-BALLS.  I also brewed coffee for myself, which I never do.  I got to work a little early.  Usually I am rushing to hell in the morning and I am habitually late to work, lol.  Maybe I can hopefully make this a habit?  Who knows.

My 10k race is this weekend on Saturday morning... I think I'm ready, but I dunno.  I've been running maybe once or twice a week, lol.  I can run fine but I just feel like I should be more prepared.  I mostly just do BBL to exercise lately.  Meh.

    Good morning, ladies.

    Feel better NOW, dj!

Poor puppy, Pirate.  I hope she's better.

Two Day Week.  Woot!  Wednesday will be MLK holiday, Thursday will be Good Friday, and Friday will be my first day of PTO for the year.  I cannotwait.

We went out for fajitas yesterday, because I had a Groupon that is about to expire.  We got there when they opened at 11, so it wasn't crowded,  Had a nice lunch (just DH and I), then went to the nursery for more plants.  And, to top it off DH remembered it was the anniversary of our first date (6 years ago).  I don't know who reminded him, since we don't really observe it anymore and I hadn't mentioned it.  I was impressed.

We do fart cards whenever we can.  This one had a dog on the front and said something along the lines of "Mom, you're so great for putting up with all the snoring and farting this past year."  You open it up and it says, "I think we should keep Dad anyway."
  • I got my dad a card for his birthday that said something like, "Bigger is always better" on the outside and on the inside it said "Especially boobs."

That's my typical card to him. To my mom, my brother and I get cards about who the better kid is.

  • Werd.

This weekend was super busy, but a lot of fun. We had dinner with MIL and SFIL Saturday night, and it was awesome. Yesterday we hung out with my parents, then went down to see Michaels grandparents. This was the first weekend in forever that I've been busy and it was fun but exhausting.

I've got a crapton of stuff to do this week for work, hopefully I get out of my blah stage soon. Dr's appt this afternoon, so at least it's kind of a short day.

  • Morning!

I can get behind Nonmother's Day--kind of like when Carrie sent a wedding invitation saying she was marrying herself.

We had a great weekend, especially yesterday. The butterfly garden was beautiful and a lot of fun and even though we did a bunch of stuff, we just relaxed all day. I love being outside in this weather.

Today sucks since we're doing AP testing and I'm missing a crapton of students.  I have small, supplemental activities to do with the others so the missing ones don't miss critical material, but it's just so slow moving.

  • My weekend wasn't bad.  Lots of hours at work, which right now is amazing.  Any extra work is helpful since it helps us save for the wedding.  I got to spend time with my FI Saturday and that was fun.  Also my mom and I went to the Michael Jackson Cirque Du Soleil show Friday night.

This week?  Not very much.  One of my really close friends is home for the first time in a long time.  Last time she was home I wasn't.  So she gets to meet my FI and I'm excited.  I've got to apply for a second job at a few more places this week too.
