What's on your Christmas list?

Re: What's on your Christmas list?

• YOU ARE NEVER TOO OLD FOR CHRISTMAS.

This was Christmas morning last year:

• Damn, the Fishy family does Christmas right.
• Okay, those pictures made me cry. I haven't seen that in so long. Even before we moved here because I hadn't been able to have Christmas with my family since I was 23.

[QUOTE]I am 30 years old, and my brother is 32, and Santa will still come to my mom's house Christmas morning and fill our stocking and leave us our Santa presents in the santa truck. No shame in the Fishy house.

YAY!! My mom even uses special wrapping paper for Santa.

• Santa still comes to my parents' house too - especially this year. He'll go to DFW and he'll go to Richmond as well. Most of his load will be dropped in Richmond, though. But we all have stockings in Texas, too, and they'll be filled.

I want some Huggable Hangers to make my closet neater. I do not think I want them in this neon yellow color, though.

• Manda, is that a le crueset dutch oven?

If so, GET IT. If your H doesn't come through, buy it for yourself or as a house present. I bought one for H a few years ago and it is awesome. The best and worth every expensive penny, imo.
• Dang, Fische! That's what ours used to look like. The number of presents (maybe not the total monetary value, but the number) has dwindled in recent years due to our increased interest in technology.

My mom used count (sometimes even had numbers on the boxes) the presents, to make sure that we each had the EXACT same amount.

Do you guys take turns or is it a free for all?
• I thought dutch oven had more to do with farting under the covers than anything. I am wrong, apparently. :)

Mom totally uses Santa wrapping paper too. And all the presents from Santa get covered in white lights.

That's exactly how we do it, too. That's how we know if everyone got the same number.

It takes a long time, but what else are you going to do on Christmas?
• I'll tell ya, that the special delivery for Liam was a plate that said "Santa's Cookies" on the top and "love, Liam" on the bottom.

Santa wrote a note in the card that told Liam to talk to his dad, uncle, and aunt about what kind of cookies he liked because Santa always loved what we left him and Rudolph.

I love all of the Victoria Secret bags in the pic.
Looks like Christmas at my house for my kid and my nephew. FI says I spoil them but I love giving them stuff so I can't help myself. I started shopping in May this year. I never had Christmas like this so I give it to my kid as much as I can
• Growing up we used to all get a present from under the tree and then open it up at the same time and then show it off. Now with T and J we open one present at a time and take our time, video taping the entire thing.

I'm REALLY excited for this year. I know Jocelyn is going to go crazy with excitement. She has already been talking about being scared of Santa but that she was going to try really hard to sit on his lap and tell him she wants a Dora Camera. We'll see.
• One year we forgot the milk and cookies, and Santa left us a nasty note asking where his damn cookies were.

I guess I was just sad about Christmas last year. I was in Tennessee with Matt's family, in lieu of my mom's house in Massachusetts. They don't do Santa any more and have a free for all gift opening. My mom sent presents there for me, but it wasn't the same. This year Matt and I are splitting up for Christmas, so I can spend it with my mom, stepdad, and (one) brother. It'll be nice.

Aw, that is just so adorable. Son finally gave up his belief in Santa this year; it's bittersweet. He figured it out earlier, but he just really wanted to still believe, ya know? A few weeks ago, we discussed how cool it would be if there really WAS a Santa, but it's also cool to be the grownup and in on providing surprise and a special thing for the little kids. So now he feels all grown up about it.

I think daughter is in the same place - she knows, but she's not quite ready to give up on her Santa believing. They're both getting great gifts under the tree this year, so it'll be a fun Christmas.

• Even though my dad is Santa (like really), we never did a huge Christmas. I never felt neglected or anything, it was more about spending time together. But then H and I got together and they go ALL OUT. It honestly makes me feel uncomfortable because I've only gotten them 1 or 2 things. H and I only do a couple of things, but that's because we're poor lol. I mean, I just can't afford to do more for them, but they really enjoy having a big blow out. I guess I'll just deal with it for a couple mroe years. I don't think we're goign to go all that out for our kids either. I mean it's fine if the grandparents do, but I want to teach them what my parents taught me.
"In the old days my ass would be in your back yard picking cotton, so excuse me if I don't put much stock in how f*cking awesome the old days were." -Nuggs
• OWN - that is bittersweet! I think kids figure it out earlier and earlier these days. Poor innocence is lost young. I had 2 older sisters so I think I was probably 5 when I figured it out. I never said anything - not even to this day to be honest. My mom always said, if we didn't believe we didn't get presents. So she never had to have a Santa talk with us. :)
• I do not remember when I stopped believing in Santa. It must not have been a very traumatic experience.

It's a Le Creuset buffet casserole. Good for stove top AND oven. Shallower than a dutch oven. I had one, but I did something very bad to it and the interior porcelain came out.

My family is like that too. It makes it hard as a poor young adult. I feel like I should get them as much as they get me, but I dont have the same kind of cash flow. I try to tell myself they aren't expecting as much from me because I'm just starting out.

My brother and SIL asked if it was ok if we just made something like banana bread or something like that this year instead of buying presents for each other. We said that sounded like a great idea since we'd probably both just be getting each other gift cards anyways. They would kind of cancel each other out.

A kid told me when we got off the bus stop and were walking back to the sitters. I ran and cried the whole way back. I still had suspicions though, so my bubble didn't completely burst until my parents sat me down a year or two later and told me that not only was Santa fake, but so was the Easter bunny!!! I can still feel my heart breaking...
• I remember when I quit believing. It was when I was old enough to realize that Santa had the same (very distinctive) handwriting as my mother. Then she tried to feed me the line about being Santa's helper, and I was all, "yeah, right, lady."

We kept on getting Santa gifts for a long time though, usually family stuff like a board game for everyone to enjoy.
